About this property
Secluded 19th century Farmhouse with mountain views
Mayunsook Farm has been cherished by our family for seven generations. Once a working dairy farm, providing our family with a retreat from their careers as industrialists (owners of the Arnold Printworks, now MassMOCA) in nearby North Adams. This large house and 43 acre property, lined by a brook on one side, a river on the other side, and filled with acres of fields, will provide as a great accommodation for family vacations, weddings, retreats, reunions, or a quiet getaway. Outside: The large back porch (facing West) is full of rocking chairs and has a wonderful view over the upper field to the green mountains beyond. This is a great place to eat lunch or dinner, watch for deer and other wildlife in the field, catch an amazing sunset, or witness the power of a lightning storm. The front porch (facing East) is a wonderful place to eat breakfast as the sun rises above the facing mountain to warm you. The fields are maintained by a local farmer, but we mow a path around the edge of the field leading to the river. Walking through the field can be a serene and meditative experience as you stroll through the grass or a loud and jovial experience as you take the inner tubes down to the river for swimming and tubing. The immediate lawn surrounding the house is perfect for lawn games, sleeping in the hammock, chilling around the firepit, swinging on the rope swing, swinging on the swing, playing in the brook, and hosting a wedding or reunion. There is ample parking on the lawn for many cars. Across the street is a 250+ acre mountain with a one-mile loop trail for your use. The trailhead is just across the street from the driveway and the trail is marked with white circles. Inside: The dining room, lined with ancestral photographs and wall paper, contains a large dinner table perfect for family get-togethers. Adjacent to the dining room is the living room, with high ceilings, large windows, a working fireplace, and farmhouse decor, this room is a great place to play games, work on a puzzle, and converse with family and friends. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make wonderful meal. Between the kitchen and the dining room is a mudroom, where you can store all your jackets and shoes. There are three bedrooms, a full bath with a shower, and a half-bath on the first floor. The Playroom, next to the dining room and adjacent to the half-bath, has a double bed and a twin bed. GGMa's Room has a double bed and is adjacent to the full bathroom. Adjacent to GGMa's Room is her Sitting Room, which has a twin bed. The Sitting Room is a great option for families with young kids Upstairs: The Lavender Room (facing North) is at the top of the stairs and has a queen bed. Down the hallway, Grandpa's Room (facing Northeast) has a queen bed and a private half-bath. Adjacent to Grandpa's Room is Grandma's Room (facing East), which has a queen bed. Across the hallway is The Down-The-Stairs Room (facing East), which has a queen bed and a twin bed. This is a great room for kids. The Rose Room has a queen bed and another small bedroom (The Porch Room) with a double bed. The Rose Room may be a great option form families with young kids. The first full bath is accessed from the hallway and is accessible to the Lavender Room, Grandma's Room, and the Down-The-Stairs Room. The second full bath is accessible to the Rose Room. These full baths have antique clawfoot tubs but no showers. Weddings and Events: We have hosted many beautiful weddings and a number of family reunions. Here are the additional fees and requirements: 3 night minimum stay Additional $100 for every 10 guests (100 guests limit) You cannot use the house for the wedding or reception because the structure cannot support that many people. This means you might want to rent a tent. Any of the outdoor space can be used. Wedding guests cannot use the restrooms because the septic system and well cannot support that many people. This means you will have to rent a porta potty, which you can locate anywhere on the property. There is space for parking in the field, but we ask your guests to carpool and limit the number of cars parked on the field to limit the impact on the soil and grass. Please inquire further if you have any questions.

We had a great time on our recent trip to Berkshires. It was due largely in part because of some excellent and charming accomodations at Jeff's family farmhouse. Our large group loved the farmhouse's layout, old world charm and beautiful property.
