This property is truly beautiful and incredibly tranquil. From the moment you arrive, you feel surrounded by peace, the grounds are well-kept, the scenery is stunning, and the atmosphere is calm and inviting. It’s the perfect place to unwind, relax, and enjoy nature.
What an incredible Casita. The views from all the windows are spectacular. It is very quiet there. Just the birds singing. The vineyards are so lovely and it was nice to see the fall colors starting. The owner George is very easy to communicate with and his staff is helpful. A peaceful stay in a beautiful place.
Great home on a great property. Outstanding views of the lake on one side and rolling hills of vineyards on the other. Host Ghee was great. We highly recommend.
We were looking for a quiet place to relax. This little casita was definitely perfect. Enjoyed the amazing view and had everything we needed for a nice relaxing weekend! Enjoyed a hike and walking through historic Columbia. Owners were very friendly and welcoming! Enjoyed pickleball on our own private court! Would definitely return!
Beautiful location and had all the amenities we needed for a very comfortable stay. Communication with the property manager and owner was very easy and quick. Very kind people.
We loved our stay at this beautiful "Casita". The setting, architecture and appointments are stunning. This far exceeded our expectations and our need for a quiet place of respite. And the owner was very attentive to our needs. We felt like honored guests.
We just loved the beautiful lake and vineyard views and how peaceful it is up here. The casita is well equipped and very comfortable. Hope to come back some time
We enjoyed our stay at the Casita. Perfect for three friends (one on the sofa bed). The views of the lake and vineyard, refreshing pool and friendly property manager, Bruce, all made our stay a perfect getaway. Buck, the dog was a bonus, we enjoyed visiting with him! Would highly recommend.
This Casita is a must stay. Great little house with all you need to enjoy a relaxing getaway. Bed and linens were very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. Best part by far was the living room / patio with views out to the lake. Truly a fantastic spot to sit with a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the view. George and his caretakers were very friendly with good communication.

Spectacular-breathtaking
Our visit to the casita at Villa Vallecito Vineyards was everything and more. The views were beautiful. The quite was needed and the weather perfect. Bogart was a pleasure to have pop in every once in a while especially since we were missing our little fur baby. This is a perfect getaway location to wind down and just enjoy life. We are hoping to enjoy this lovely property again soon.

We had a great time staying here. The Kaseeta is located on top of the hill, overlooking a rose for one side and vineyards on the other. It was the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. Loved all the hummingbirds feasting on the trees and plants right next to the house. Very convenient to all of the gold rush towns of the area. Big trees state park was one of our most enjoyable locations while we were here. Only update we’d suggest is the TVs, but with views like this who needs a TV?
My husband and I just spent a week at The Casita, and words will not do it justice.
My husband travels extensively throughout the year so our personal downtime is absolutely precious to us. We average about 6-8 rentals annually, with a week at each stay. With that said, we've developed a discerning eye and a list of criteria needed for us to fully unplug and recharge for the next quarter.
The Casita easily became one of our very favorites! So much that we just squeezed in a shorter stay for the following month 😊
Everything from the drive to the location, the vicinity to local shopping, restaurants, wineries, and hiking trails is ideal. The communications with Kirsten, the Estate Manager; and George & Birgit, the Owners was cohesive and immediate. The love and care the Owners brought into this property is palatable. It’s one thing to have a view, it’s a whole other level to feel the energy of Kindness and Grace.
Thank you to the Klaus Team for a memorable stay. We look forward to seeing you next month.

The location of the property was excellent -- gorgeous views for miles and very isolated (in a good way).
However, we encountered a number of disappointing unforced errors with this property: running water was not always available (my only shower in four days was in a trickle of cold water); the pool was not open during posted hours, but when I asked to have it opened, we found it to be incredibly dirty; several lightbulbs in the house were burned out; many screens were in disrepair (and the bugs at night are considerable); the property alarm went off in the middle of the night (twice), which was not at all restful.
There were a few minor annoyances too: the ice machine / water dispenser in the fridge did not work (we had to buy a bag of ice) and there were no oven mitts (we had to use bathroom towels to handle hot items).
We did love the location and property, but these small things really detracted from our stay. All of these issues are fixable, so I hope this constructive feedback is helpful to the property owner / manager.
We'd be happy to return, but only if we were assured that these issues were addressed.
Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback!

Stunning views and beautiful property, but overall disappointed
First off, the cottage was beautiful, well appointed and super comfortable. The views were world class and the check-in was super easy.
But two issues though. One, they dropped the ball on a hot Saturday. They advertise access to a pool, and clearly give the hours starting at 11am. My gf and I went to enjoy the pool on a hot 100+ degree day a bit after 11. It was closed up and covered. We called twice but no one answered so we made alternate plans for the day. The property manager did call back and opened the pool, but alternate plans were already in motion. How can you forget to open the pool on a 100+ degree Saturday when you have guests? It happens though.
The other issue was more bothersome and a little unnerving. Some creepy guy on a quad drove up past the cottage three times. Dark hair, mustache, ball cap. 30’s. Keep in mind the cottage is away and off by itself, and there is no ‘accidental’ driving by. Don’t know who he was, but it seemed stalker-ish.
Beautiful quiet location with a panoramic view of the reservoir and vineyards.

About the host
Hosted by George Klause
Our family of six lives in Southern California . We purchased this beautiful 60 acre property with 11 acres of vineyard in 2020 after we fell in love with Calaveras County. Currently we are selling our grapes to local wineries and and renting out the three houses on the property for VRBO.
Why they chose this property
The charming rolling hills with big oak trees and the vineyards reminded our family of the wine region in Austria, which is where my wife is from. The stunning lake views with gorgeous sunsets and the tranquility of the property makes you never want to leave.
What makes this property unique
Natural beauty at very season of the year, abundance of wild life including a plethora of wild birds, mediterranean climate, closeness to Lake New Melones, perfect place to stroll through vineyards, gorgeous pool, hammock overlooking the lake and peaceful tranquility
