It is a journey to get here from TX, but it was exactly what we needed. Fresh air, nature, and wildlife abound. We awoke to chipmunks chasing each other and then off to the Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls. It ate up a whole day with hiking and sand. We came back at sunset and saw 2 elk and 20 deer. It was such a great experience.
This home is nestled in the wonderful and captivating scenic beauty of the San Luis Valley of Colorado. It was a restful yet invigorating antidote for the corruption of big city stress and the curse of boring vacations in some hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very elegant cabin in the woods. There are so many enchanting places to visit nearby, and then, return to a beautiful home that was very comfortable and possessed its own allure. The hosts were very thoughtful to provide everything for our ability to have a home cooked meal and a great night's rest.

Cabin in the Woods
We loved your cabin in the woods!!! The space is cozy and the views are spectacular!! We were snowed in 60", but still had all the amenities of being in town. We greatly appreciate you checking in on us through the days of bad weather. Always felt safe and looked after. This will be our home away from home from now on!!! Consider us lifers!! HAHAHA! Couldn't have asked for better!!!

I thought this was good alternative to staying in Alomosa and going to sand dunes, but it is only for those who don't need wifi or service for texting- only unclear phone calls with one bar of service with T-Mobile. It was a beautiful Cabin but the 30-40 min drive on a dirt road each way in and out was brutal on our van. There are wild animals all around and no fishing or anything to do nearby- 1 hr drive to any activities besides a fishing friendly lake (40 mins). We got stuck with no wifi the whole time and it was not able to be fixed during our stay. Ants in the bed in one room crawling on one of the guests 2 nights... no refund offered for inconveniences.

Hi Vanessa, we’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the cabin! We’ve followed up with the homeowner about your feedback, and they want to share the following:- The ant situation was addressed the next morning as soon as someone could get over there, though occasional pests like ants or flies can appear in a mountain setting despite our prevention efforts.- As discussed during your stay, the internet outage was caused by a damaged main cable, which couldn’t be repaired at the time. They received compensation for the inconvenience of not having internet access.- The listing and pre-arrival details note the property's remote location, limited connectivity, and reduced cell service. While it offers a peaceful, off-the-grid experience, we understand it may not be ideal for everyone, especially those needing strong internet access. We’re grateful for your feedback—it helps us continue delivering the 5-star hospitality we’re known for.

Peaceful cabin stay
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming cabin that perfectly provided comfort and relaxation. It was Nestled in a serene location and provided a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The cabin itself was beautifully equipped with all the amenities one could need, especially in the kitchen. I was delighted to find a nice selection of coffee, teas, and even hot chocolate—perfect for cozy evenings. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible wildlife. I was fortunate enough to see elk, coyotes, chipmunks, grouse, and even a bear just outside the cabin. Each sighting was a reminder of the natural beauty surrounding us.I also enjoyed exploring the nearby Sand Dunes and having dinner at the Yacht Club in Cuchara, but honestly, some of my favorite moments were simply spent on the deck. Sipping coffee while soaking in the peaceful surroundings was the ultimate way to relax. I can't recommend it highly enough!
