Our stay on French Pond was lovely. The house is cozy with an updated kitchen and bathroom, and the game table was a nice surprise. The foliage on the pond made for a great view. The town of Henniker was fun to explore and take walks along the trails. It was a great New England Fall getaway. Our hosts were also very responsive to questions.
Wonderful little place right on the pond! Amazing views and peaceful location! Our family of 6 stayed recently for a little trip. Kids loved fishing off the dock and catching the frogs. Perfect amount of space to relax, grill on the deck, watch movies, play pool and enjoy time together. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to take the kayaks out, but I know that would have been a great activity we would have all enjoyed! Would definitely stay again on another visit!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re so glad to hear your family enjoyed the stay and made special memories by the pond. It sounds like the kids had a great time with fishing and frog catching! Hopefully on your next visit you’ll get a chance to take the kayaks out too. We’d be happy to welcome you back anytime!
What a beautiful cabin on the lake. The house was about 10 minutes from Pays Peak which was our ski destination. The owner of the property was wonderful to work with from the original booking to check out. She always responded right away and made us feel very welcomed. The house was immaculate and we just loved it. Highly recommend this property to anyone.
The charming home is very remote and private. Updated kitchen and bathroom providing all amenities you could want. Comfortable beds, but master is very tall. Although the living area futon seating provides extra sleeping options, they are not the most comfortable for sitting/lounging. A softer chair or two would be welcome. Lovely deck for lake watching. Frogs aplenty!
The property was just as advertised. Secluded, remote location on a peaceful pond. We barely saw another person from the property. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch and watching for wildlife - herons, loons and otters with the sounds of various birds and frogs. It was just what we needed for the two of us to disconnect and relax. You are in the woods - so prepare accordingly. Bugs were not a problem for us on the deck but when walking I found a long sleeve with a hood was helpful enough that I didn't need bug spray. The pond is better set up for kayaking / paddle boarding than swimming. The shoreline is covered in lilly pads and is a bit slippery and mucky - so not inviting to wade through but great for all the wildlife watching. Short drive to Henniker and Hillsborough for a few dining options - though a lot were closed when we were there despite Google listings saying they should be open. Sounds like we were there during their summer break week.

Upon entering the house, there was a slight moldy smell, possibly from the washer. The view of the lake was nice, but couldn't enjoy it due to the fact there was no paddle boat. The provided kayaks also didn't have seats in them... The owner told me that the renters before us broke it. Had we known this we would have stayed elsewhere. The reason was to enjoy the lake and we couldn't We were charged a lot of money for a place we could not take full advantage of. If a renter breaks something, they are charged for it. Wondering why it couldn't be replaced with said charge. Sorry. Won't be staying here again.
We recently were married in Hopkinton - we stayed here for four nights as the wedding location was prepared and afterwards to visit our family that lives in Contoocook. We absolutely loved the spot, it was perfect and the hosts were wonderful and responsive when I had to text them about something. Would stay here again!
The exterior - deck, patio, dock - is rustic and enjoyable. The gas grill was a plus, (just needed to light it manually.) The pond was quiet and peaceful. (The nearby campground is a little noisy, but only briefly, and only Saturday nights.) The interior is very clean and modern, minimally furnished. Beds are good and the bed linens fresh and crisp. The kitchen is lovely, as are other modern touches.
The privacy and the resident loons could not be beat. Communication with host Inna, before and during stay, was excellent. She is super responsive!
It is a really nice cabin, well furnished, modernized (even with AC), nice porch and small patio. The pool table was a nice unexpected element. The kitchen supply of dishes, pans etc is a bit sparse (no potholders!), but overall no complaints. The lake is lovely and quiet. We love the resident loons! The whole area is great. We hope to return sometime.
