Good place to stay to drop your gear and sleep, not great to spend any length of time in. Good things:Generous bedroomsSuper easy and helpful communication with ownerWell heated (had to keep it on almost constantly though)New bathroomsGood location to navigate Dunedin on foot or by carFunctional Wifi Photographs wellBad things:Personal products left on the windowsill and under beds for us to find.Lamps for decoration as not all could reach the wall plugAll linen was tired, old and either stained or falling apart.Large staining on the lounge was not pretty.Kitchen is not functional, missing a bunch of utensils, no pantry, tiny fridge. No dining table or any tables to put things on. Yes you can eat at the breakfast bar, but only 4 at a time so boardgames are out of the question.Everything felt cheap, with no attention to detail for function.Nowhere to 'unpack' clothes, rickety wooden rail only holds one small bag, everything had to go on the floor.Curtains where damaged and falling down, not great when people can see right through the windows from the street.Super tight space in fence to pull into driveway, again, poor design. Kitchen floor is lumpy, possibly a trip hazard.Laundry 'cupboard' could seriously use a clean.

Hi Laura. My thanks for taking the time to write a review and we're really sorry if this was your experience as this is absolutely not what we want. We did reach out to you to check if everything was ok, and you told us things were fine with the exception of a few things you felt were missing from the kitchen (tongs, peeler, glad wrap) - so we were a little surprised to read this review which includes many aspects that we disagree with entirely - and are happy to write as such here. This is important to us as your review forms the basis that other guests make a decision on, but we are happy to respond and allow our future guests to check your claims for themselves. (1) Regarding items left on the windowsill and under the bed - we ask our cleaners to take photo's of the property after each clean. I have reviewed these photo's and can not see anything on the windowsills other than a decorative plant. the photo's do not show under the bed - so please accept my apologies if something was overlooked here - I have passed a message on to be sure this is checked thoroughly. (2) We have double checked - all lamps can reach plugs and are functioning fine. (3) We rent our sheets from the same firm in town that supplies hotels. This ensure fresh, crisp, clean linen every stay. We have checked the duvet covers and pillow cases and did not note any issues. (4) Agreed, there is a makeup stain on the couch that we have not been able to remove despite our best efforts with multiple different approaches, apologies as we have not had an opportunity yet to coordinate a professional clean. (5) We have checked over thoroughly, and believe this kitchen to be well stocked. We were able to find tongs and a peeler, and whilst there was not glad wrap, we do supply tupperware containers to store your leftovers. The fridge has 145L capacity and the freezer has 52L capacity. (6) Agreed, there is no dining table, though we feel the pictures show this. We supplied 4 stools for your group of 4, and there were 2 additional stools in the cupboard. We agree the dining is one of the limitations of this space, but feel it is represented in our listing. (6) There are storage racks with 2 shelves and hanging space in each bedroom which are suitable for unpacking your clothes. Agreed that they are not ideal for leaving your suitcase on - we will look into whether we can add some additional luggage racks to cater for shorter stays where it is less convenient to unpack everything. (7) Curtain damage was noted by our cleaner following your stay (not prior), thought it was minor - there were a couple of hooks that had come detached from the rail, though they did not affect functionality as they were not at the ends of the curtains. This was rectified already before this review was received. (8) There is a huge sliding wooden gate to access the property - which slides very easily. When open, there is about a 3m gap to pull into the property which is more than adequate for any size vehicle. If the gate was partially closed when you arrived, then my apologies, but this is easily corrected. (9) We have assessed the kitchen floor and found one minor slight dip near the dishwasher - however would not regard this as anywhere close to a trip hazard. We believe this was likely caused by water damage from the dishwasher as some previous guests did not use it correctly - we will monitor to ensure it doesn't become any worse. (10) We have also assessed this, and aside from a bit of washing powder on top of the dryer (which has long since been cleaned up), feel the space is in good order. I can only apologise for anything here that you felt was underwhelming in this space, however having checked over everything in your comments, still feel confident in this space. We hope that our future guests can take this response on board and assess for themselves. We have a team available to assist should there be any issues, and always encourage our guests to reach out during their stay so that was can address any concerns if they arise. Wishing you all the best for the new year ahead.
