Bright and charming cabin on the Cabot Trail overlooking St. Ann’s bay.
Situated on a hillside overlooking the historic St. Ann’s bay, the Old Trail cabin is conveniently located just 5.5km from the start of the Cabot trail and the Gaelic College. A great spot to start or finish your Cabot Trail adventures! The cabin is designed to feel as open and airy as possible for a small space. The bedroom has a queen bed and the loft has a single bed. Kitchenette has coffee maker, toaster, mini fridge and microwave. All amenities needed are only 15 mins away in Baddeck. - Please note that there is no oven/range in the cabin however there is a Bbq for your use.
The Old Trail cabin sits just off the original Cabot Trail. The old road is now a walking path that leads to the Lewis mountain multi use trail.
Enjoy the beautiful views of the bay from the porch or living room while unwinding after a day of adventure. Cell phones do work there and it has high speed internet. Although it is encouraged that screen time be replaced with socializing, games, star gazing and good old fashioned getting outdoors.
A short walk up the paved road is a lovely beach which is accessible through the Macleod pioneer cemetery.
There is a outdoor fire pit, please check to be sure a fire is permitted, simply google “NS burn map”
Plenty of local sights, hikes and activities all within a five to fifteen minute drive. Including kayaking, restaurants, fishing and waterfalls.
Things to note about the cabin. You can drive a vehicle right up to the door, but it is a bit steep and a little tight. But not to worry if you are uncomfortable with it, there is ample flat parking 50ft away. Due to its location and the ladder stairs leading to the loft, the cabin is not wheelchair accessible and anyone with mobility issues should also be aware of these obstacles. Please be aware that there is no oven/range in the cabin.

We enjoyed a short stay in this sweet cabin with incredible views. Perfect and cozy for our family of 3. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed some lazy time on the screened in porch. Saw an amazing moonrise over the water.
Only stayed one night but was happy. It was clean, getting in was easy and had a nice view of the water, especially from the firepit but unfortunately there was a burn ban in place. Recommend!

Loved how it felt in the middle of nowhere but it was still close enough to everything you may need.

Very charming place near the water, unfortunately the second bedroom only had a single bed not a double and we were 4 adults.
What a beautiful place! The cabin, located just 15 minutes outside of Baddeck, is clean, cozy, and comfortable. There's room for a child or extra guest in the loft, and the kitchenette has everything you need. The view is spectacular, the hammock up in the birch trees is so comfy and peaceful, and there's a fireput to enjoy in cooler seasons. We were so sad we didn't have longer to stay. A blacksmith did a lot of beautiful work on the interior, and the artwork is tasteful and thought-provoking. Very tastefully decorated. Can't wait to come back!!

Wonderful accommodation. We enjoyed a wonderful evening away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very clean. Pls note the website says the location is 50770 but it’s 50778 so that was a bit confusing.
