About this property
The Geode House by Stay Waiheke
Summary:
An architecturally designed sanctuary of calm, The Geode House is a retreat made for slowing down, reconnecting, and settling into the rhythms of the island. Thoughtfully crafted and beautifully finished, this award-winning home is a place to observe, reflect, and relax.
The Space:
The Geode House is a serene, design-led retreat crafted for rest, connection, and quiet moments. Surrounded by native bush, the home opens to peaceful outdoor spaces, soft natural light, and carefully considered interiors that make the experience feel both grounding and luxurious.
This property is also award-winning, recognised nationally as Winner – 2023 Living Space of the Year (Home of the Year – Interiors) and Finalist – 2023 Home of the Year (Architectural).
Inside, the home is warm and inviting, offering a full kitchen, dining area, and a relaxed living room centred around the wood-burning fireplace for cooler evenings. Large windows frame the surrounding forest, keeping the house connected to nature throughout.
There are three beautiful sleeping spaces:
a king bedroom,
a second king bedroom,
and a queen sleeping nook with a screen divider just off the dining room.
The main bathroom sits at the heart of the house, with a second toilet located off the laundry for convenience.
Outdoors, a cedar hot tub and generous deck create a peaceful spot to unwind, listen to native birds, and enjoy long slow evenings in the bush.
Bed configuration:
Bedroom 1 – King bed
Bedroom 2 – King bed
Bedroom 3 – Queen bed with screen divider (off the dining room)
Guest Access:
Guests have full, private access to the home, deck, outdoor hot tub, and onsite parking.
The Neighborhood:
The Geode House sits in a peaceful setting close to some of Waiheke’s most beautiful natural areas. Whakanewha Regional Park is only minutes away on foot, offering bush trails, coastal forest, estuary walks, swimming spots, and native birdlife.
A short drive brings you to some of the island’s most loved vineyards and breweries, including Tantalus Estate, Te Motu, Stonyridge, Wild on Waiheke, and The Heke, each offering their own take on long lunches, craft beer, wine tasting, and relaxed outdoor dining.
You’re also within easy reach of Onetangi Beach, Omiha, and the cafés, shops, and eateries of both Ostend and Oneroa.
Getting Around:
There is easy parking at the property for guests who bring a vehicle.
Regular bus services run between Onetangi and the ferry, stopping near all major wineries including The Heke, then continuing through to Oneroa Village and the Matiatia passenger terminal.
Taxis and rideshares operate island-wide but can be limited during peak times.
Other Things to Note:
The property operates on rainwater tanks, so guests must be mindful of water use, especially in summer.
Minimum night requirements apply year-round (7 nights mid-December to mid-January, 3 nights on holiday weekends, 2 nights at all other times).
Interaction with Guests:
Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8:30am to 5pm.
For life-threatening emergencies or urgent property emergencies such as fire, guests must call 111 immediately.
For all other urgent after-hours issues, an emergency number is provided in the arrival instructions.
