About this property
Cumberland Street deluxe apartment No1
Summary:
This is the ground floor apartment of a recently refurbished Category One listed building located in the historic Warehouse Precinct of Dunedin. For the engineers it has a double hand riveted I beam imported from Scotland running through the middle of the main room. The high ceilings give it a sense of space and depth. All windows are double glazed and while located on the ground floor it is surprisingly quiet. Enjoy the quality cotton bedding and relax in your inner city sanctuary.
The Space:
The floors are a white polished concrete with a quartz stone chip providing interest and designed to give a connection to the industrial heritage aspect of the building. An information piece is also provided describing the history of the place.
Guest Access:
It has a very fancy electronic key system. If you get locked out I can open the door remotely from my cell phone anywhere in the world.... It is like magic :-)
The Neighborhood:
The neighbourhood has been completely revitalised in the last 10 years. This area was the industrial hub of New Zealand at one stage. I believe it has one of the greatest concentrations of heritage buildings in NZ.
Getting Around:
It is really handy to everything. About 15 - 20 minutes walk to the Hospital and University, 10 minutes to the octagon. I guess you could also say on the gateway to the Otago peninsular where there is some of the best wildlife NZ has to offer.
Go for a cruise on the Monarch. It is well worth seeing Dunedin from the water as well as the wildlife of the heads.
Other Things to Note:
Lots of good coffee and breakfast cafes around the corner - 4. A wine shop selling quality vintages next door (talk to Paul to fix you up with a good drop). A organics / vegan / gluten free grocer next door (directly behind). A great pub one block away (magnificent ceiling) and a new restaurant one block North. I haven't tried it yet. My wife also had an awesome pan pried fish (gluten free option) across the tracks at the harbourside restaurant also within walking distance.
