About this property
Te kāinga maunga - where mountain time begins
Welcome to Te Kāinga Maunga—our mountain home on the edge of Blackheath. Two storeys, four bedrooms, two cosy lounges: one for firelit chats and board games, the other for movie nights and kids' retreats. A modern kitchen flows to the back deck, where the BBQ, pizza oven, and garden invite slow evenings under the sky. Just a short drive to Evans Lookout and the village—this is where mountain time begins.
This two-storey retreat is perfect for families or friends, with two bedrooms and a living space on each level. Downstairs, you’ll step into a welcoming sitting room where leather armchairs and a glowing fireplace invite long chats, lazy board games, and quiet moments with a good glass of wine.
The semi open-plan layout flows easily from the lounge into a dining space that seats six, then through to a thoughtfully designed kitchen. There's plenty of room for group cooking, casual snacks at the island bench, and the joy of preparing meals together.
French doors open out to the back veranda, where a large outdoor lounge, Weber BBQ, and hammock create a dreamy spot to unwind. Just steps away, a wood-fired pizza oven awaits—grab your favourite toppings from the local deli and fire up an Italian feast under the stars. With minimal light pollution, the night sky here is dazzling and unforgettable.
Beyond the deck lies a sprawling garden and soft lawn—perfect for kids (and grown-ups) to play while others relax and watch from the veranda with a drink in hand.
Downstairs also features the master queen bedroom and a double bedroom, along with a freshly renovated bathroom that includes both a bathtub and separate shower. For convenience, there’s a separate toilet too.
Upstairs, sunlight pours into the second living room, making it a cosy, sun-warmed space by day and a comfy movie zone by night. A huge leather couch, large TV, and peaceful vibe make it perfect for binge-watching or for kids to retreat while the grown-ups chat downstairs. If you need to work while away, there’s a spacious desk and monitor ready for you—no pressure, just peace.
Two more bedrooms are tucked upstairs—one with a queen bed, the other with two king singles—plus another bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink.
There’s off-street parking for two cars, and plenty of street parking if needed.
Te Kāinga Maunga is perfectly positioned for both adventure and relaxation. Evans Lookout is just 3km away, offering sweeping views over the Grose Valley and access to the iconic Grand Canyon walking track—one of the finest hikes in the Blue Mountains. Govetts Leap, a local favourite, is 5km away and magical at any time of day.
Blackheath village is blossoming with charm—browse unique boutiques, enjoy incredible food at Ate or Osteria 2785, or sip something special at Side B or Frankie & Mo’s. If you’re in the mood to stay closer to home, the excellent Blaq Restaurant at the Kyah Hotel is just 500 metres from the front door.
Whether you’re here for the walks, the views, the food, or simply the stillness, we hope you find the same magic in this mountain home that we do.
