Schoolhouse: Dog-friendly, Large Yard, near Purina, Wheelchair friendly

Originally built in 1884, the Pikes Peak Schoolhouse has been thoroughly modernized for your comfort while keeping design elements from its century plus history.

The name of the schoolhouse is after Pike's Peak in Colorado because the schoolhouse was built on the highest point of Section 11 of the Northeast part of the Union Township when the area was platted. But more importantly, the vantage point gives a panoramic view of the countryside.

THE SPACE

Located 2-1/2 miles from Washington city limits to the north and 2-1/2 miles to Union city limits to the south, Pikes Peak Schoolhouse is in Missouri countryside and less than an hour from St. Louis and only 20 minutes to Purina Event Center.

The Schoolhouse is a one level little house with 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom (handicapped friendly). It sleeps a total of 4 people and is dog friendly.

The open great room has extra tall ceilings, large windows, and a comfortable sofa.

The full kitchen has everything you need except the food to make your own meals, including place settings, pots and pans, wine glasses, and both a Keurig and a regular coffee maker.

Made from reclaimed wood of the old schoolhouse, the king size bed is made with crisp white linens and has a view out the front overlooking the countryside.

And the bathroom, well, guests have commented that it is the best shower ever. Extra large in size and has a handheld shower head, bench, and ability to roll right in for extra accessibility.

OUTDOOR SPACE

The covered front porch is a country delight especially for the sunrises. The side yard is a large grassy area bordered by tall shade trees for your doggies to play.

LAUNDRY

Full washer and dryer available for your use, located in the bathroom.

PETS

Dogs are welcome with prior approval. Please note that the county requires that you keep your dog on a leash outside the property and we require that you clean up the poo in the yard. There is a $25/night dog rate plus tax per dog.

If you are coming for competition at Purina Events Center, please contact us for approval of multiple dogs and a special dog rate. The dog rate applies to ALL dogs on property, even those you choose not to bring inside the home.

PARKING

There are 2 parking spaces right outside the entry door and a flat entry. There is also parking for a large truck or trailer with prior approval.

NEIGHBORHOOD

Pike's Peak Schoolhouse is located on a paved country road that occasionally has bicyclists. There are homes somewhat nearby, but you can't see them through the trees.

The schoolhouse has a shared driveway with the owners who live way down the lane and into the woods. You may or may not see them except when they're on their way out to play a round of golf or mowing the lawn.

SECURITY CAMERA

There is one security camera facing the parking area.

GUEST ACCESS

The home as well as the porch and yard are all yours to enjoy. The shed/garage and the barn are not available to guests.

- Rate is based on 2 people, there is a $25 per night / per person rate for additional guests

💳 Credit card must be on file in case of damages. We will send you an email to authorize a $1 hold after your booking is confirmed. This hold begins 3 days before your arrival and is released 3 days after departure if there is no damage, no excessive cleaning needed, and no house rules are broken.

🚗 Drivers license will be required with our signed guest agreement after you book, along with a selfie holding your photo ID

🆔 We will perform a Guest ID verification securely through our payment processor after you book. The main purpose is to make sure no one has stolen your credit card and used it without your permission.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

You can purchase travel insurance for your reservation! The standard policy covers quite a few reasons for cancellation and applies to your whole traveling group.

Note that all new reservations have the option of purchasing a Cancel For Any Reason insurance policy besides the standard travel insurance policy. You can purchase this when you make your reservation with us, and the insurance is automatically connected to your stay.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you cancel before 30 days of arrival, you receive a full refund of your deposit, less a cancellation fee. If you cancel within 30 days of arrival, there is no refund.
