Wonderful Apartment

Wes was a wonderful host who provided helpful information to make our stay easy and comfortable. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. We enjoyed exploring the property, and my husband and kids loved being able to pop over to the pond to fish whenever they wanted. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet Getaway

This is the perfect place to stay for a quiet getaway. Everything is updated and the house is fully equipped with everything but food for meals. There is plenty of kitchen space to cook a great meal. The owner is easy to reach and very helpful. The house is within 25 minutes of Ithaca and all it has to offer.

Graduation

It was sweet moment 'cause it was our child's graduation. But also last time at Ithaca. Especially I will miss Wes's place and his beautiful art works. It was second time to stay and it was perfect place for 4 of our family. Large enough to spread out. Has large kitchen to make anything. Only we had problem was cellular reception ' cause we have AT&T. If you have Verizon you will be fine like my mom. Wes was great host. Always ready to help. Thanks Wes for your great place.

Amazing kitchen!

Comfortable cabin, spotlessly clean, kind owners. We came for our daughter’s Cornell graduation . I was able to make two full dinners for seven people in the large and well equipped kitchen.

Truly a peaceful retreat

this is a beautifully done apartment , located at the end of a very quiet road you may be abit worrried about your choice, don't be; this is a well kept and equipped home. It is an easy drive to Ithaca and Watkins Glen area. You won't be disappointed.

Cozy and Comfortable Loft Apartment

The Raven Barn Studio "Roost" was a perfect and affordable base for our family vacation as well as for conducting college tours for our daughter in the Ithaca and Finger Lakes region. The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, nice stove and refrigerator and washer and dryer for convenience. Our 13-year-old son will always remember his unique sleeping arrangement in the loft that's accessible by climbing a ladder. As our daughter and I are aspiring artists, it was an added bonus to be able to take a peek into the ceramics studio below and also see Wes and his wife doing their beautiful mosaic work at the Science Center in Ithaca. We are very grateful for the opportunity to stay here!

The owner Wes is delightful. The property is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable.

The interior has a comfortable modern-rustic feel to it. Everything you need is there from a landline phone to stocked linens to kitchenware. Nestled in woodlands, it's incredibly quiet with the exception of hearing beautiful songbirds, though with the windows closed you can hear a pin drop. My favorite part was sitting at the breakfast table next to the window, opening the windows, and listening to the birds and watching them by the tree by the bird feeder. Delightful! This place has a well-thought out layout and amenities. One thing to note is on our drive there we took a bumpy road - I believe it was Brenda Lee Rd - which is fine for AWD vehicles. There is another route to the house that is better maintained taking South Danby Road to John Howland. It is worth the extra 5 minutes or so and you can take this route anywhere.

Nice secluded place.

Our family was visiting Cornell. Little farther place from Cornell but secluded place & we felt very safe. Has very nice kitchen & total 3 comfortable beds. Had TV with Tivo, we were able to watch NBA final. We hope we will stay this place again when we go back to Cornell.

Peaceful, quiet forest retreat

We very much enjoyed our 2-day stay. Wes welcomed us, and provided us with local information. The apartment was comfortable with lovely views of the surrounding forest. Walking around the paths and trails on and near the property amid the full fall colors was a highlight of the trip.

Fun, clean, and cozy property in the woods.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. We walked the woods of the property and exploring the accessible gorges of the Finger Lakes region. The property is a short and pleasant drive from Ithaca. We brought food from the Ithaca Farmer's Market and cooked every night at the Raven.

Comfortable apartment in a lovely wooded setting

We stayed at this apartment over a long weekend while visiting our daughter in Ithaca and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect -- nestled in a peaceful forested area that's only a short drive from Ithaca. The apartment is nicely furnished and spacious, and the kitchen is especially well-appointed. It also comes with DirecTV and Wifi for your media needs. The owner Wes is very friendly and he met us personally to show us around. If we have the chance to go back, I would definitely hope to stay here again.

LOVED IT! IN THE HEART OF MOTHER NATURE!

We "lucked" out to find this treasure for our 3 day symposium at Cornell. What a wonderful place, sure would have enjoyed more time to truly enjoy the area and this property. Wes was great. Wish I had a kitchen like that at home, wow! It was inspiring to see the entire unit under solar power as well. Clean, cozy, comfortable, love the in floor heating in the bathroom.. It was a nice drive to unwind from all the lectures from the university. We looked forward to just grabbing some groceries and heading "home" to enjoy the space. Highly recommended! Looking forward to visiting again and staying longer. Thanks for everything Wes, it was GREAT! Next time we look forward to checking out the mosaic studio downstairs.

Beautiful place to stay with everything you will need

This is a tastefully decorated and clean apartment in a beautiful location with easy access to Ithaca. We had a longer stay here than expected due to a delayed house closing in Ithaca and had everything we needed for myself and 2 children to live very comfortably. The kitchen is well stocked and has high end appliances, there's a washer and dryer and a modern bathroom with plenty of towels, toilet rolls etc. The area is quiet with a lovely adjacent pond yet is easy to get to Ithaca (approx. 20 mins). We especially enjoyed visiting John Thomas Steakhouse and Dolce Delight (great coffee, pastries and pies) on the way into Ithaca , as well as Buttermilk Park for hiking. The cost of renting this apartment was very reasonable and was of much better quality compared with Ithaca rentals. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Place!

My wife and I spent 3 weeks in this beautiful brand new (mint condition) apartment. The cabin is located off a quiet road right near the Danby State Forest, perfect for our time away from the city but still only 20 minutes to the center of Ithaca. The apartment itself is a cozy and spacious lofted apartment with brand new state of the art kitchen appliances. You can look out the windows or sit by the pond in the back for wildlife, birds, or the peaceful sound of the wind rustling through the trees. Wes and Corbit were incredibly gracious hosts and had everything we could possibly need for our long stay. We LOVED it here and were very sad to leave but hope to return very soon!

Relaxing, Clean Get-Away, Family Friendly

Great get-away for any couple or family to enjoy. Has everything you need in a very quiet/secluded location , yet only a 15 minute drive into Ithaca. We stayed here for over 2 weeks with 2 younger children and they loved it as well. You won't be dis-appointed with your stay. The owners are very kind and helpful.

Cornell visit and camp

We stayed here a few days before and during a camp our daughter attended at Cornell. The drive to campus and town is pretty, easy and quick. The owners (who are just plain awesome) gave us some great tips on restaurants, a grocery store and things to do while in the area...as well as some of their honey that I wish we could have brought back with us. Great size kitchen, living room, heated bathroom floors and washer and dryer were all treats for us...and everything was very clean and well kept. It was just so relaxing vs. staying in town as we had on our past trips to Ithaca.

Excellent Apartment， highly recommended。

Our family of 4 stayed in this apartment for 4 days to attend my son's graduation. It is about 20 min drive to Cornell University. The apartment is spacious with kitchen, living room, one double bed, one single bed and a loft, with washer and dryer, free Wifi and telephone for domestic calls. The owner is very nice and sent message to arrange our arrival one day before our travel. The place is clean, very quiet and private. We felt much better than staying in a hotel and have recommended to one family of our friends.

Lovely Property

Stayed here because our son was graduating from Ithaca College, very comfortable, clean, lovely, open kitchen, Wes was on site as we arrived, 2 caveats: 1) if you cook, beware the glass hood over the stove, it's positioned just at a height that I (5'5") & my husband (5'10"), clunked our heads on it a couple of times ... weird height.... 2) we're from NYC so maybe we're a little hyper security aware..., while the main door downstairs to enter can be locked, the door adjoining the owner's studio cannot be locked from the inside .... again - a little odd. One final comment, the owner's studio is downstairs, and while albeit it was brief, someone was doing some work (drilling? hammering?) rather early Sunday morning which was a little startling - what's the level of quiet anyone should expect during a stay anywhere? All things considered, we found our stay more preferable than a hotel and would stay again - highly recommend, go with eyes open !

Great house

The place is newly built , we loved the open space architecture and it was well equipped with all utilities. Wesley the owner, was very helpful and kind and also gave us some fresh delicious honey he harvested the day before. We enjoyed hiking around the house to see the ponds and beavers. This place is a great place to spend a time out of home in nature , its surrounded with ponds and wood and very very quiet and isolated. We have 2 kids ( 5,7) and they enjoyed it very much.

Wes & Corbit settled at the end of Howland Road in the early 1970's. At that time the road was a narrow one lane dirt road; there was no electricity and they needed to ford a small stream to get to their building site. After retiring in 2013 from Cornell (Corbit) and healthcare (Wes) they built RavenBarn at the entrance to their property. RavenBarn provides a modern apartment for weekend guests and longer visitors, and a ceramic studio where they explore the art of mosaic and tile making.
