This is a very nice and newly remodeled cottage near the lake. We took several day trips to places nearby including Boston, Martha's Vineyard, and Plymouth-all a short drive away. We also enjoyed just hanging out at the house, playing cards and games. The kitchen is well stocked and the bedrooms are comfortable. It was perfect for our family.
I didnt get to spend much time there but what i did was a great spot. I was getting married this last weekend and was a short drive to the venue. We didnt get to enjoy the lake area because the hurricane weather coming through but it looked like it would be great to enjoy for the summer. The bed was super comfy and i loved the decor.
The property doesn't match the description on VRBO. There is NO hot tub, no umbrella over the patio table, no front outside lighting except at the END of the driveway doesn't help when entering/exiting the front door in the dark! The sidewalk in front of the house needs repair. The "August" app didn't work, a TV in the bedroom didn't work, the host did replace the remote of another TV because that one didn't work. It was nice to see our family and friends who live in the area, but it was disappointing that the rental wasn't ready for guests.
I'm very late in writing this review, so my apologies!
Pre-Arrival:
We decided to do our family vacation in Massachusetts this year, since our family had never visited the northeast and my kids and I are big history buffs, so it seemed like a good place to go. This was the first time using the VRBO platform, and between poor reviews of the platform on Reddit, and many stories of host's double booking and the platform not supporting guests, I quickly became worried about our trip, and this was exacerbated by the very few reviews this property had.
These concerns were completely unfounded, although the one issue we had was slow communication through VRBO’s messaging system, which also freaked me out (please note, Nicole always responded through VRBO, but it would sometimes take a couple of days). However, once we arrived at the property, and I actually called her, she was available everytime we called, and responded to texts very quickly. I gave 5 stars on communication because the issues were on VRBOs messaging system, and me insisting on doing everything through the app. This is really the extent of the negatives for our stay!
The House, Location, and Amenities:
The house was definitely on the smaller size, if I were to nitpick, the photos make it look bigger than it is, but there's still plenty of room for our family of 5 and a little Chihuahua.
Even though it's a smaller house, there was still plenty of room to lounge around in the evening and watch TV, there's a prop
