About the host
Hosted by Judy Quick
I am a native Texas girl, and have spent much of my life living in the Southwest. I love the mountains of New Mexico, as well as the ocean and beach lifestyle of Southern California where I have another home. My educational sales company allowed me to have a home in both areas as I covered at one time 6 states--California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. I still own my educational sales company today where I represent K-12 textbook and technology publishers in New Mexico and Southern California. I love meeting new people. I have worked hard...love to decorate and entertain, and love to host people in my homes. My goal is to make your stay the best experience ever! I guess you can tell that I like to stay busy!
Why they chose this property
In 1998, after searching in New Mexico for a place to call home, a publishing friend told me to check out Placitas! While in town on business on a cold, snowy January day, I decided to drive out to the historic village and take a look for myself. I was hooked from the minute I drove down the road and through the mountains!! I bought this property because of the amazing Sandia Mountain views, the peacefulness, and tranquility, and because of the majestic wild horses that also call this area "home." The fact that the property was located at the end of a one lane road--thereby offering total privacy was another important factor. I decided right then and there that I would buy the last two parcels of land so that I could own everything at the end of the road...6 acres. Everything about this place seemed to fit! I could hardly contain my excitement!
What makes this property unique
I fell in love not only with the breathtaking views of this home, but with the Santa Fe style architecture. I had never experienced such warmth in a home from the brick floors, to the Viga & latilla 20 foot ceilings, to the Kiva fireplaces, adobe walls, niches, and skylights that flood the home with all the New Mexico sunshine! Then, to top it off the village is home to over 300 wild mustangs! What a majestic sight to see them freely roam around the property. I have a herd of 11 horses that visit the property quite frequently. You never get tired of seeing them! There is so much wildlife here. It is not uncommon to see jackrabbits, bobcats, and an occasional bear. In fact, while I had guests visiting, we were able to watch a bear cub as it rolled around on the ground before it lumbered off. There are so many birds and I never tire of their serenades.
