About this property

Great two house compound, inground pool, great privacy

Delightful rustic intergenerational or multi-family compound with large pool. Main house has upstairs master BR with king bed, TV & sitting area; and full bathroom. Main house first floor has the main kitchen/dining area/living room and also has a second kitchen and a new bathroom with easy access from the pool. First floor has access to a large deck with two tables and 12 chairs.

Guest house has 4 br's--a queen room and a twin room on each floor. Each bedroom has its own sink and there is a separate toilet room and a separate shower room on each floor. There is an additional room with outside entrance on the first floor that we call the quiet room with a sofa and chairs for reading. We do not advise using it as a sleeping space.. Outdoor hot and cold showers, washer/dryer room, large deck with 2 grills (one charcoal and one gas) overlooking pool. There are many Adirondack chairs and three lounge chairs placed around the pool. There are two hammocks--one in front and one in back area. There is an equipent room with bocce, corn hole, floats, beach toys for children, and other outdoor equipment.

The house is in a very private setting but only 2+ miles from Lambert's Cove Beach .House is ideally situated, close to Cronig's up-island supermarket, and Tisbury and West Tisbury shopping areas. Being right in the middle of the island allows easy access to Menemsha sunsets, many art galleries, Ally's general story, West Tisbury library, farm stands, and equidistant from Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. This is the quiet part of the island and a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Vineyard in the summer although you can easily access the crowds and shops.

No linens or beach towels are provided although beach chairs are available.

Mv house with pool

Very cute living room so comfortable. Stairs to second floor bedroom a little narrow. 2nd house with four bedrooms a little musty smelling as I guess all beach houses are! Pool and grounds lovely and comfortable. My family loved staying there. Well equipped. We had a great time!

Perfect for us!

We loved staying at Bob and Dottie's place. It was perfect for our family and we really enjoyed the rustic vibe and more remote location. The whole crew loved the pool and were in and out all week. We got a pass for Lambert's Cove and had a great beach day there. We had a hot week and appreciated the fans provided. The owners were super communicative and a pleasure to work with! Thanks, Bob and Dottie!

Bob and Dottie were very responsive to our questions and concerns. If it says “ rustic” in the listing, this is accurate and depending on your expectations, fine. The pool and the toys are wonderful. Our 18 month old and 5 and 8 year old were well entertained. The kitchen(s) are well stocked. Be aware of scratched non stick pans that should be removed from use. There is no garbage disposal which can make for messy clean ups but is manageable. There is no ice maker so either get bags or plan on several daily “ice making” sessions. I grew up with the same amenities so this was not a shocker to me but depending on what you think the weekly rent should include, be prepared. There are issues in the house that should be addressed given the asking weekly rent but have not. Specifically issues with shower doors and some leaking even though specified directions were followed. Please know that we had a great week but I was disappointed with certain aspects of the house. There is no air conditioning. We were fine with the fans because our week was mild-70’s. If it was a Michigan 90 degree day.. not so much. The aesthetics could be improved. I’d love to see some attention to detail especially with the guest house and bathrooms. Martha’s Vineyard is rich in history and has an artistic, rustic vibe that could be expounded on here. Would I come again? I’d love to work with Bob and Dottie again but would like more attention to details.

Perfect vacation getaway for family

Set in the woods of a private association in centrally located West Tisbury, this lovely compound comfortably accommodated our extended family, each with different needs. for a week. The outdoors are wonderfully maintained. There’s a large refreshing swimming pool surrounded by an extra large hammock and Adirondack and lounge chairs. One shed room attached to the guest house is filled with every pool and beach need possible from chairs, to lawn games and pool toys and floats. Take the beach chairs over to Lambert’s Cove, our favorite beach on the island, to view the sunset with a resident walk-in pass. A laundry room with washer/dryer is in a shed there , too. The kitchen was amply supplied with every gadget imaginable for cooking up barbecues and family meals including even a coffee grinder and a meat pounder. Gas grill is in the yard.. The main house where my husband and I stayed was furnished with comfort and style for a family. Downstairs, in the main room, there’s a large TV with a full collection of DVDs for both adults and children, games, books, and magazines. . A second small kitchen in the main house is perfect for the family bartender. And my son in law was able to work at a small table there. A sitting area off the master bedroom upstairs (king bed) also with a TV, allowed me to take a much needed break from the Tennis match being watched downstairs. Nice bathroom with jacuzzi. The guest house had 2 , 2 bedroom suites, each with a bathroom, one bedroom furnished with a queen bed and one with 2 twin beds, perfect for my daughter’s and their families. . We rented a crib for my granddaughter which fit in the small bedroom. The baby monitor worked from the guest house to the main house. Make reservations in advance for dinner at State Road Restaurant, get lobster rolls in Menemsha Meat Market, indulge in ice cream at Bill and Dave’s Chocolates in Oak Bluffs and fabulous drinks at Donovan’s , visit the Field Gallery nearby, the artisan fairs at the Ag Center and the flea market in Chilmark. There are lots of trails behind the house if you have a dog. One warning, my Yorkie mix, a huntress, managed to escape the fenced in yard multiple times, mostly by going under the guest house, even through the stairs, but also in the back there must have been a hole where a resident bunny was going in and out. No traffic so we just had to get around and fetch her back. Bob was available for any questions we had.

Great experience - hope to come back

We had 8 adults in town for a week and this place was perfect. We loved having the pool and the various places to sit and eat, do puzzles, etc. We appreciated the serenity and central location. While this place is not walking distance to a town, it was great for us as we had cars and e-bikes and we were able to get everywhere pretty much in the same amount of time. We made lots of great memories here and hope to come back someday.

Peaceful Paradise with Pool

This may have been our best vacation ever! The pool is a great size and very clean, the water was warm but refreshing as the pool is in the sun almost all day. The house and neighborhood were very quiet and peaceful, and the beautiful hydrangeas and other plants even attracted hummingbirds. The kitchen is the most well-stocked I've ever seen, and there were tons of games, a gazillion books, and plenty of beach chairs. The pool was surrounded by comfy chaise lounges and Adirondack chairs, there was a great deck with two big tables and plenty of chairs, and a gas grill and two charcoal grills. The rooms were comfortable, and there were plenty of showers and sinks. Three comfy couches in the living room and a big tv with cable and all the apps. Good wifi. Supermarket a mere 5 minutes away, even though you feel like you're in your own private world. Airport is only about 10 minutes away, and I recommend Long Point Beach (look up Trustees of the Reservation), pristine and uncrowded, worth the $20 advance parking fee. Dottie and Bob were very responsive hosts. You will love this place!

We Loved it!

We had a great time and loved absolutely everything about this house. The pool and the outdoor space is fantastic, and the inside of the house is very cozy and warm. We will definitely be back!

Delightful vacation stay

The house was comfortable, spacious, and well equipped. We appreciated all of the games, books, and pool/beach toys that were there. We enjoyed the central location and privacy, and especially the wonderful outdoor space and pool. Thanks for your hospitality and responsive communication!

Great house!! Poor management

We had an amazing time with our family at Roberts house! The house got everything you may need fo a big family get away. The kitchen is well equipped with every gadget you may need. We enjoyed the pool so much and our dogs had a blast running around the yard! The only downside of our stay was our check in process since our reservation was totally forgotten and the house wasn’t ready for our arrival, once this issue was solved we were able to start enjoying our vacation.

The house was organized, well designed and perfect for my family. There were board games like checkers, uno, connect four, etc. The owner was thoughtful and even had games for the pool. I liked the layout of the guest house bathrooms. I would return every year.

Lovely property

We had a wonderful time. The pool was a huge plus with the varied group we had. The common areas were comfortable and perfect when the baby and grandmother wanted to rest. We had a little rain and we're very comfortable dining in. The kitchen is well equipped with an assortment of tool and works well for a team. We used the second kitchen for storing drinks etc. everyone had a great relaxed time. The house is on a quiet dirt road but still close to farmers market, groceries and beach. Highly recommend this property. Not fancy but spacious and comfortable
