Kimberlee,
We are sorry you feel this is the worst experience.
The hot water heater, when depleted, must have time to refill and reheat the new cold water. This is normal and can take up to 3 hours due to the size of the water heater when completely empty. You as a real estate agent, agreed. We sent you specifications, a Youtube video and other information on why hot water was not coming out continuously. You then stated on 7/12 @ 1:13pm "Let me clarify it’s not all the rooms. It’s just the main room upstairs by the kitchen, but that’s OK..." then never brought up the lack of hot water after that or any other issue/concern.
We had indicated that the 3rd floor shower was the furthest from the hot water heater, with more pipes and it may take a little longer for water to reach that spot, which it does because we stay in that room when we are there. We had just stayed the week before and many times before that as well...no other guest has ever not had hot water or stated they did not...you even stated you did, but lied in your review.
You stated guests (10 ) were all taking showers at the same time. This would more than likely account for the hot water being depleted often if it never had time to recharge. We asked you about the shower usage and you stated most everyone was taking long showers at the same time, which would/could be a cause for quick depletion. You stated you tried the water minutes after running out of hot water, but the water heater needs 2-3 hours to refill and recharge. You were expecting hot water on demand which is not possible. Now you're changing your story on this review that does not align with your messages.
You had extra guests as well that you did not disclose, breaking policy/rules.
As far as you alluding to potential hazardous conditions, this is a coastal home. Humidity and proximity to the Gulf being only a few hundred yards away, can have this effect. This is normal and those who frequent the coastal areas during this time know this.
As a REALTOR you should practice ethics and refrain from malice or intentional harmful claims. When you started to escalate your threats, you then brought up the construction site next door; which has nothing to do with us, and stated, "Also, your job site next-door has multiple safety hazards ..." We suggested you report that concern just as you could have reported any of these about our property to VRBO at that time. Instead you've now added more issues to your original concern.
As far as the elevator, you NEVER mentioned any issues with it whatsoever, until after you checked out.
You NEVER mentioned any issues with the house, aside from the hot water depletion; which you admitted to having after all.
In addition, you wanted to extend your stay asking for a free extension; which we could not do out of ethical and fairness of other guests who have paid for extended stays.
You boyfriend, Rohail, then engaged with us and took over your account, apologizing for your behavior towards us; and countless attacking messages past 5am; as we were simply trying to understand why a simple hot water issue, which was out of our control and functioning properly became so much bigger and you wanting to hold us accountable for your water usage when you had hot water the entire time.
He then offered to pay for a late check-out. Payment was remitted and you all checked out the following evening.
Because of your inappropriate behavior, we had to call VRBO, and they tried to call you several times; which you ignored and still have not addressed with them.
We explained to VRBO your concerns regarding the hot water. They reviewed our message thread and stated this was normal and wanted to discuss hot water operation with you. VRBO told us we were welcome to engage local authorities to have you removed due to your language and threats as well; which we chose not to after speaking with your boyfriend, still giving you an opportunity to mend the situation we did not cause. You stated you were still going to leave a bad review after all that.
Ironically you then remitted payment for a late check-out after all the complaints and attacking you had done.
Please help us understand...you had such a horrible time, never spoke to VRBO about your concerns after they contacted you many times, didn't have other issues until AFTER you departed, had your concerns addressed, admitted to having hot water (the basis of your review), complained about the coastal smell, complained about the elevator, paid for an extended check-out...yet you left a 1-star review?
Seems if you didn't like our property as you stated, you would have departed, not kept fighting to stay; and then paying more to stay longer.
Your boyfriend, Rohail, said, "We do not want to cause any trouble...we plan to enjoy the rest of our stay." He then concluded with, "Apologies again about everything again" in reference to your tirade.
Ultimately, the concerns you had; we gave 100% attention to. We addressed them immediately, offered solutions, offered suggestions and provided everything in our control to assist, up to and initiating that VRBO get involved to help.
We will provide evidence of this should any future guest like to know what was said, or the receipt of your paid extended stay as this review seems to heave been written out of malice.
Due to the messages you sent, VRBO extended our timeframe to file a damage claim as we were concerned with our property being damaged based on your threats. The washer unit was not in working order after your departure and as it was working during your stay, it was reasonable and safe to assume any damage that took place was during your reservation, which is why a claim was filed. Insurance is not optional as you stated. Things happen, whether accidental or intentional, but either way, this is why the claim was filed against your reservation. We never blamed or stated you intentionally caused damages.
In the end, there are things we cannot control. Depleting hot water is one of them. However, this concern you had, brought to light something to consider for us as homeowners of an investment property of this size...we will look in to adding an additional hot water heater as an added benefit that most other homes do not have.
Upon the next guest checking in the day after, there were no issues or mention of hot water concerns, elevator or odor at all.
We appreciate you staying with us and hope you arrived home safely.
