The Heartwood Cabin is a freshly renovated rustic retreat nestled in the sleepy hamlet of Red Rock, NY.
We just lovingly rebuilt and redecorated this charming cabin as a family getaway —we set out to create a place where we would be proud to bring our family and friends.

The cabin was even better than pictured. You can tell the owners put a lot of love and work into the home. We loved the property and had a fantastic time exploring the area. Will be back again!
We booked this escape as a 1/2 way point between family in NJ and MA and what a hidden gem it is! Dog friendly was a priority, but the magic of this place was a welcomed surprise. All weekend we commented on wishing we stayed longer and that we must come back to really enjoy the property and cozy feel that warms the soul! The cabin is meticulously maintained and it is very clear that the family loves their home away from home! Can’t wait to return!!
We booked a couple nights to attend a show at Tanglewood and Chris and Ellen's Heartwood cabin did not disappoint. Great proximity to countless things of interest (amazing digital guidebook provided by hosts) we were only able to scratch the surface. So grateful dogs are able to enjoy the cabin and the gorgeous grounds. We will try to return down the road for sure!
The cabin is perfect getaway, complete with fireplace, fire pit for toasting s'mores and a contemplative pond. The cabin was immaculate, and our host Chris was extremely informative, pleasant and helpful. Hikes around here are beautiful and easily accessible, with a state forest down the road and two land conservancies nearby. We would love to come back if it ever becomes available...because I predict this will be a very popular spot!
The cabin is everything as listed and more. The attention to detail is wonderful. Feels like you are out in the woods in a rustic cabin but with all the creature comforts you could need, good beds, great linens and towels, with beautiful touches like antique lighting and period appropriate appliances. Fireplace was wonderful to take the chill off, living room and dining room more spacious than I anticipated for a cabin and really comfortable. Loved the antique and vintage touches, furniture, kitchen design, art work, etc. Enjoyed the grounds with the little pond and fire pit. This is truly a gem and Chris and Ellen could not be better hosts.
Property has multiple really lovely outdoor seating areas and is very, very comfortable inside as well. It was a very hot and humid weekend so we stayed indoors unfortunately but had a wonderful time visiting the street fair in East Chatham and then heading the short distance to Tanglewood. No shortage of things to do and many hikes on my AllTrails app within 5 miles. We are all 60 and the loft was fine, beds all comfortable. AC was a godsend but would love to go back when we didn't need it. Owner extremely quick to respond and every detail perfect. Highly recommend. Would like to return. Well priced - too bad only one bathroom.
I had very high hopes just from the reviews and the photos, but I STILL managed to be surprised and delighted throughout my stay. The cabin and property get all the details right. It’s a real cabin, in all its old charms, with wooden beams throughout, antique furniture, a working fireplace, and a 50’s kitchen stove. It’s also endlessly comfortable, in all the modern ways that are important (like great mattresses and linens, soft bath towels, throw blankets everywhere, a great sound system, and efficient heating). It has so many sweet touches, too (the throw pillows!), without ever being precious. Loved the area hiking, too, and identified more than a dozen birds by song just sitting on the front porch. Great communication from the owner AND I got to bring my dog. What more could I ask for?
While the cabin is small, it is thoughtfully designed and had everything we needed. One of the beds is in a loft accessible by ladder, so you have to be sure footed, but we thought that was fun.
We enjoy the Berkshires every summer. Some of our favorite places to visit are Jacob's Pillow and the Great Barrington area. We choose the Heartwood Cabin because we wanted to have a quiet location that was an easy trip to our usual haunts. This place hit the mark and more! Chris, the host, was so pleasant and easy going. I could tell it was a high priority for him to ensure we had a wonderful visit. The "Cabin" which it is referred to by the hosts, is VERY comfortable. I am not a camper and like my creature comforts and I felt right at home here. The Heartwood Cabin seems to be recently renovated with an eye on creative design. Although it is not a large space, the high ceilings and light streaming in provided a very comfortable and spacious feel. We had 2 guests visit us for two nights (with Chris' permission) and the space still felt right. The bathroom and kitchen are nicely designed, very clean and just what we wanted. I often have trouble sleeping in new surroundings, but the beds were so comfortable, I slept well from the first night. One of our favorite activities was to read on the front porch and enjoy the peaceful locale. We also found new favorite areas in NY State. I would highly recommend the Heartwood Cabin and can't wait until we have the opportunity to return!
Well maintained and appointed cabin in upstate NY. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our small family and this house was perfect. Would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely time staying at the cabin. Very clean, beds were super comfortable and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
I would suggest that you download the guest book before you get to the cabin so you have Wi-Fi ID and password. Cell service is non-existent. We realized that once we got there and then had to get in the car to drive 5 miles to get cell service to download online guest book with house information. It would be helpful to have that information in a book at the cabin.
This little place made for a delight of a weekend! The decor, cleanliness, and quiet of this home were a much needed break from our typical cityscape. The owners are extremely responsive to messages and what you see / read on the listing is what you get!
The aesthetic is so cohesive throughout with tons of little details. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful yard, even the landscaping. Love the fire pit, grill, pond and hammock on the property. Quiet neighborhood. Host was easy to communicate with.
This was our 2nd Memorial Day Weekend at Heartwood Cabin. Much better weather this time. As charming and comfortable as we remember it. I love all the wonderful design details and boardgame selection. We can’t wait to come back.
We had a great time at the heartwood cabin, very peaceful and relaxing. It feels far removed but is very close to hiking trails and the cute little downtown. Would definitely recommend!
We had a grand time! This place was magical! Every design detail was included to make rustic cabin a modern comfortable place! Love love love and we highly recommend!
This is one of those times where reality far exceeded expectations. Every detail in this cabin is amazingly perfect. It all combines into a magical sense of time and space. Cozy, relaxing, fun, and thoughtful. Everything you’d need is provided. All ages had a wonderful stay. Come stressed, leave smiling!
We had a wonderful time, even though it rained the entire stay and we didn’t get to enjoy the hammock or the fire pit. The house was super cozy. We are eager to come back.
