If you are looking for an actual Northwoods experience, this is the place. I have been visiting the Northwoods of Wisconsin since 1992 and have stayed at many locations. All have their pros and cons. Pros: It is located on a great lake for fishing and is close to other attractions, such as waterfalls and touristy towns like Boulder Junction. Cons: Bring your own drinking water, as the rust is severe on this property, which is typical. Oh, the mosquitos are the state bird up in Valis County, and again, that is just par for the Northwoods. Bottom line, I will be going back to Idyllic this year. Chris has made the cabin very dog-friendly.
We love this Cabin! Very Clean! Spacious and perfect place to relax and enjoy the Northwoods! Chris is fantastic, very responsive, generous and kind. We love our trips to the Northwoods! Will be back!
Great, quiet property out in the woods on a beautiful lake. Boat slip for a boat, but a little bit shallow. Great outdoor space for relaxing. Host very responsive
We loved our week at the cabin and hiking the old growth forests of the Northwoods and U.P.! The cabin is spacious and well equipped with all that you need for a relaxing stay. The night sky is brilliant plus we had the bonus of experiencing the northern lights during three nights of our stay! Chris is a responsive host but we really had no issues throughout the week. We hope to return in the future!
Great location, easy access, comfortable beds/furniture, nice and clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful spot - Bad water
The home is in a beautiful setting and fit all of our needs for a few days of ice fishing and relaxation. 5 stars in this category. The water on the other hand was not so great. I understand it's in iron country but it was pretty gross both stained and smelly. We could not drink the tap water, didn't feel clean after a shower, and bought gallons of water from town to drink and cook with. I suggest the owner do better at maintaining the filtration system or install a more robust one that can do the job. If not then be very clear in the listing that the water is virtually unpotable and to bring your own. I don't like giving negative reviews but this is the truth.
My husband, myself and our 4 year old had a great stay. Easy to access house, clean, plenty of space and great northwoods charm! Would definitely stay again.
The place was near perfect. The location & the scenery were outstanding. Unfortunately, the tap water was poor. As we showered, it discolored our hair and finger nails; we used bottled water for cooking. It was still well worth the price.
Chris’ cabin is great! It’s in a perfect location between Land O’ Lakes and Boulder Junction. We easily jumped about to the best restaurants and art studios the county had to offer!
Had an absolutely wonderful time staying here with my two small dogs. We did have a few rainy days during our stay and really appreciated all of the books and records to give me something to do. As soon as I entered the house and began to look around I said I couldn't wait to come back. The house was just filled with so many thoughtful little touches from the notebook full of stories from past guests to a stocked bar and chilled glasses in the freezer.

We were very happy with our stay. The place was perfect - clean, well maintained, and everything we needed was provided. If you plan to bring a boat it's a little tricky due to a lot of stumps at the end of the dock but it's well marked. We would definately rent here again!
We have stayed here multiple times both during the summer and winter. Always an enjoyable time for my husband and I along with our dogs. The view is always amazing and the stay is always without any issues. We will be back again soon!
We had a peaceful relaxing time. Went to Bond falls and up to Porcupine Mountains including Lake in the Clouds. Also went to the lumberjack show in Minoqua. The location is great. Not in a busy location and so quiet while sitting by the lake. Weather was great and we enjoyed Swimming at Black Oak Lake just toward Land O Lakes. The beds were really comfortable. Nice size bedrooms and nice bathroom. Enjoyed sitting by the fire pit two nights, but last night rained. We brought our projector and screen so watched a movie since you had internet. That is a plus. Thanks again for sharing your cabin.
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! It was clean and cozy and very private. Chris was one of the most attentive hosts I’ve ever experienced, any questions and he got back to me immediately. We will definitely come back

Why they chose this property
There's no better place to get away from it all. Phenomenal fishing, or just watch wildlife on the gorgeous lakes. Close to many great golf courses, and superb bicycling paths all around. Ten minute car ride to the General Store for fresh coffee and breakfast, or all your staples as well as adult beverages.
What makes this property unique
Surrounded by six wooded acres, and only one (excellent) neighbor, you are truly alone out here as much as you want to be. The lake is twenty steps from the back porch, and a long pier amidst the lilly pads takes you to a relaxing bench out on the water.
