Pretty location, no frills apartment
Perhaps if we had come just for the lake we might feel different, although the advertised strolling lakeside is to be accomplished on a very rocky small stretch of lakeshore. Beautiful view though.
The price of the rental should have included things like thicker walls (noisy neighbors), better mattress (we both sank/rolled towards the middle), better blinds (slats missing in bedroom and vertical blinds on patio door had many gone), a working ac vent in the bedroom, or if the cushioning of couch and armchair weren’t so worn making it difficult to get up (hips sinking below level of knees) we’d feel better about the price we paid. This is a 50+ year old building with little updates.
The folks renting the other apartment with a deck had two dogs who would bark at us if we sat out on our deck. Not the property’s fault, but it added to the overall negative experience.
The kitchen is equipped with dollar store level items. New items are cheap, old items worn. At least one bath towel was stained with a suspicious brown and the bathroom vent did nothing to clear steam from shower. It rained a good part of the time and we had to walk through wet grass to get to the unit since the sidewalk is overrun with weeds and plants disallowing use.
Just not acceptable for the cost of the rental.
