About this property
Stunning Downtown c.1890 Estate + Wraparound Porch by Lucky Savannah
Designed in 1890 by Hyman Witcover, the architect behind Savannah's iconic gold-domed City Hall, The Simon is one of the most beautifully preserved Queen Anne Revival homes in the Historic District. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and built for Simon P. Kehoe, son of beloved iron works founder William Kehoe, the estate has been thoughtfully restored to honor every original detail while welcoming up to twelve guests in the kind of style that Savannah does better than anywhere.
Wraparound porch. Formal dining for ten. Original tiger oak mantles with ornately carved faces. Leaded glass windows that throw rainbow prisms across the parlor on sunny afternoons. The Simon is the rare vacation rental that actually lives up to its photographs, and then some.
The location alone would be enough. Just off Lafayette Square in the heart of Savannah's Historic District, the city's best addresses are practically at the front door: the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Hamilton-Turner House, and the Andrew Low House are steps away. Pinkie Masters, McDonough's, and Hitch are around the corner. Walk a few squares south and you'll find Forsyth Park, a weekly farmer's market, and great coffee. Less than half a mile away: the SCAD campus, Savannah Theatre, the Davenport House Museum, the Owens-Thomas House, and Leopold's Ice Cream.
Inside, the sun-filled parlor overlooks Harris Street and the wraparound front porch, anchored by the home's architectural crown jewel — an original tiger oak mantle with ornate columns and intricately carved faces. A Sonos system keeps the atmosphere going throughout. The fully equipped kitchen comes stocked with stainless steel appliances, high-end cookware, and a cocktail and coffee bar built for slow mornings and long evenings alike. When it's time to gather, the choices are generous: the in-kitchen table, an intimate breakfast nook, a formal dining room that seats ten, or the porch — which, after one coffee out there, becomes the obvious answer every time.
All five bedrooms are open and airy, with high ceilings, tall windows, and the kind of quiet that only comes from thick historic walls. The first-floor primary offers a king bed, an en-suite bath with walk-in shower, and private access to the side porch. Upstairs, the second bedroom tucks a king bed into a signature Queen Anne bay window alongside an original fireplace and private dressing nook. The third has another king, an original fireplace, and beautiful leaded glass. The fourth is cozier in scale, a queen bed and a colorful original fireplace. The second-floor primary features a king bed, an en-suite bath, and a view of the Cathedral spire, with an adjacent bonus den fitted with a queen sleeper sofa and desk for those who need a little more room. Two full baths serve the first floor; two full baths serve the second. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, YouTube TV, Smart flat-screen TVs in every bedroom, a washer and dryer, and Nu-Calgon iWave air purifiers are all included.
Some guests never make it past the wraparound porch. Harris Street below, live oaks overhead, Savannah at its most unhurried. Honestly, we understand.
