Town's End, a Private Estate with Mountain Views
Welcome to Town's End, a retreat for nature lovers! Named after my father, Townsend, this custom built 3,200 sf home is at the end of a private drive with mountains on one side, fields on the other, and woods behind.
This large and private estate boasts 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, 1 family room with games and large screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, 2 car garage and large gravel driveway for multiple cars, patio with outdoor dining, double hammock between 2 apple trees, seating around the Solo Stove by the garden, music room with piano, children's room with play loft, and a formal dining room with vintage chandelier.
Enjoy the tranquility of our 260 acre property situated between The Green Mountain and White Mountain National Forests. Town’s End will provide you with vast, open spaces indoors and out, immersing you in a true nature’s paradise. Perfect for family gatherings. (Please note: This is a quiet retreat, no parties.)
Town's End is surrounded by over 200 private acres of untouched fields and woods. The house sits at the top of a hill, at the end of a private, well maintained, dirt and gravel road. There are a few neighbors dispersed along the the road but all you can hear from the property are birds and the owls calling to each other at night.
You will enjoy the many comforts of this spacious and modern home, custom built for our family as a summer retreat. A few South Asian items and furniture from my father's travels contrast the bright white walls and wooden beams. High speed fiberoptic internet is provided for your convenience.
Town's End is ideal for family reunions. There are 6 bedrooms (plus a couch in one of the living rooms which can convert to a bed) including the newer addition of the master bedroom which is located in a separate wing of the house. The 6th bedroom is up a flight of stairs on the other side of the house and is located in the spacious office for those seeking more privacy. Each comfortable and bright bedroom looks out on to a different majestic view of pristine nature.
Sipping coffee in our well - equipped kitchen while watching the sun rise over the mountains, you may spy a grouse, deer, or a family of wild turkeys meandering through our property. You can walk straight our back door for a peaceful stroll around the rolling hills or on trails through the woods.
The outdoor space is stunning and vast, with outdoor dining on the patio (with a newly purchased large grill) and seating near the garden. There is a fire pit / Solo Stove where you can roast marshmallows while gazing at the bright stars at night. Wood, paper, matches, and lighters for the Solo Stove can be found in the garage.

About the host
Hosted by India Delphine Anna S. Swayze
Growing up in Washington, DC, I spent many summers in gorgeous Vermont. Being able to escape to the lovely mountains, tranquil fields and lush woods of our country home was vital to me and my family. Town's End has always been such a special, unique, and magical place, unspoiled and nurturing to the city dweller. I wanted to share this gem with you.
Why they chose this property
Town's End is located in a gorgeous and friendly Vermont town, where people value a healthy lifestyle and are supportive of small businesses like local organic farms. Especially within the past 5 years or so, the town and neighborhood has had an influx of people who wanted to escape places such as NYC and contribute to the town in unique and refreshing ways. Our property is on a private road named after our family. We bought the acreage in the 1970's after other relatives had moved to escape the chaos of city life. The neighborhood is comprised of a few houses connected by well maintained dirt roads that are essentially scenic walking trails.
What makes this property unique
Being surrounded by unspoiled nature, while staying in a very spacious house that provides you with everything you need, will rejuvenate your spirit. In terms of the house's aesthetic, I wanted to combine the simplicity of nature with the rich and sophisticated history of our family's travels. I am assured you will find peace here, and feel invigorated by the spectacular setting,
