Clean, comfortable & quiet. My only caution is that if you plan on cooking, plan on bringing everything you need. While there is plenty of plates and flatware, there is very little in the way of cooking utensils. Overall, a nice house. I would stay here again.

Simple, but nice

We enjoyed our stay at this well-appointed home. It had all we needed for a long weekend skiing at Wisp. The kids loved the bunk room and having their own TV. We were nervous about the steep grade getting to the house with the snow, but our AWD SUV did fine. It was quite chilly the first night and most of the thermostats were locked, but once the house heated up, it was comfortable.

Perfect Basecamp!

Adorable little home up on a mountain. Great location to all of the DCL attractions, close enough to get to all of the big box stores. Perfect amount of space for the four of us who stayed, along with two more who came to hang out for a few hours. Love that it’s dog friendly, my pup loved sniffing around where all the wildlife had tromped through. A lot of reviews mention complaints on low water pressure and hot water- this was not a problem for us at all. I take relatively long showers and I never ran out of hot water, and the pressure was just fine!

Mountain Retreat

Nice cozy house in the mountains. All appliances either new or in good working order. Bedrooms were nice size. Plenty of towels. Wish the baths were more elderly friendly. The tubs should have a nonstick surface and the shower head should be adjustable and able to adjust the height. My only complaint is not knowing how the dirt roads and inclines were after getting off the paved roads. Overall nice stay.

Quiet location, dog friendly

The house was perfect for 2 of us and 2 fur babies. Would easily accommodate another couple or small family. Inside was clean, lots of towels for the kitchen and bath. I really appreciated the house had basics like salt, pepper, TP, a roll of paper towels, coffee filters, a few dishwasher and laundry pods, soap, extra trash bags, and a kitchen scrubby. The yard is plenty large and flat. Located in a quiet neighborhood, but you will definitely need 4WD in the winter. Only minor complaint was most of the outdoor furniture was pretty dirty and there was no hose or stuff to clean it with. Overall, a great stay and I would recommend it!

Nice quiet location

The house was a nice location secluded. Much nicer looking on the inside than the outside could definitely use some landscaping because that was one thing that almost turned me off to renting this house until I saw the inside. The kitchen could use some utensils we had to go out and buy a can opener. House had an ample supply of towels which was very nice. Bed was very comfortable in the master bedroom. The house has a nice set up if you have two families because you have the upstairs which can be closed off. We had to supply our own batteries for the remote so they could be checked frequently and updated. Overall we had a nice experience and would definitely rent this house again.

Incognito McHenry home

Pros: Good location, quiet neighborhood with lots of deer, nice supply of start-up toiletries. Partial A/C was enough to keep house cool during heatwave. Comfortable master bed with its own A/C vent. Cons: Need a 4-wheel drive to navigate some steeple crush & run roads. House has small water tank, and owner wants renters to wait 30 minutes between shower use. Kitchen is very bare bones - bring your own cleaning supplies, foil, very few pans. Some safety concerns if need to take your pet outside after dark. Bring your own flashlight as it’s very dark.

Bedrooms were the best part

The nice part: the Bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms were very nice and clean, Kitchen was very clean with nice appliances. It was dog friendly which is one reason we picked it and it worked out well with that. The not so nice: There was no heat in the "living room". We turned the heat pump up in the kitchen to 86 degrees trying to get the front room warm enough to be comfortable. There is a wood burning stove but no wood was provided and that really isn't something we wanted to get into. The bedrooms downstairs have electric baseboard heat so those rooms were comfortable. The upstairs bedroom seemed a comfortable temperature but we didn't use that space for our needs. Also, while the house sleeps many people, the living room really only seats 2 people comfortably. Sitting on the futon provided on the other side of the room, you would not be able to see the TV. Again, worked for the 2 of us and our dog but any more than that would be a stretch. The road to get to the cabin is pretty rough/washboard like - we have a small SUV, not sure how well a car would do winter or not. Plan on going slowly!

Perfect Getaway!

This was the most perfect, quiet and quaint little area. It was in great distance to restaurants, stores, the water, etc. but perfectly tucked away where we could build a fire and relax. The house was clean, well-kept and perfect for 7 adults and a one year old. I already saved so that we could rent again!

Beautiful and Quiet Property

The home was in a wonderful area, quiet and perfect for a little getaway. The house had obviously been cleaned well, but there was one small issue. Quite a few ants had entered the kitchen, we found them when they took over our small box of donuts in the morning. I think this is just part of being in the woods, so I do not believe this is anyones fault. Other than this small hiccup, the house was perfect for my wife, my dogs, and I!

Most homes are well beyond $150 a night so it was nice to find a decent home to afford a weekend getaway. It slept 4 perfectly, could fit a few more. Bathrooms clean and stocked with towels. Only wish the living room was able to fit a larger or more comfy set up, but wood stove was nice addition. Would recommend; would return.

Perfect country getaway

We were looking forward to getting away and unplugging for a couple of days. We were able to do just that! Played card games and built a fire. Kicked the ball and even took the dog on a nice walk. The kids didn’t even complain that they didn’t have devices. And at night we just cuddled up and watched movies. We will be back for sure.
