About this property

Home nestled in a 14th-century ironworks and surrounded by natural beauty.

Intimacy as a couple or with family, Living in nature, Relaxing! Warmth during the day, gentleness in the evening,
Exceptional place recognized by the Catalan Pyrenees Natural Park, you are in a house-cottage air-conditioned above the river and in the enclosure (closed wall) of the remains of the forge, transformed into a flower garden and welcoming." A paradise" is the most used expression by visitors...
It is a moment in complete privacy and serenity, the property has no vis-à-vis (our house at 40 meters has its own spaces) . You have the choice at every moment of shade or sun, from the riverside or to dream in the rose garden. Ideal for recharging day and night!
At 560 meters above sea level, 20 meters from the river, alternating Mediterranean heat and freshness in the evening. Swimming is pleasant in the middle of the day, walking is early morning and there are many activities... or lazing about in Catalonia!
Plus, the cottage includes a sauna (autumn, winter, sometimes spring) and a decoration chosen by your host (professional artist, studio visit on request).

After 4 years of renting... family moment, playful moment, moment of dream, calm and discovery of the region, moment of writing or drawing, starting point for hikers or music lovers (#festival pablo casals)... all seasons find happiness under the great cedar and the twin plane trees...

Clarifications. Just enough isolated... 500 meters from any house, away from the hubbub of villages, you live in an independent house in a place of exception labeled by the reserve of the Catalan Pyrenees, on the valley of CASTELLANE (CATTLAR / MOLITG-LES-BAINS / CAMPOME / MOSSET)... (information on the website)
Biodiversity. Respect. History. Quiet, in the heart of a natural area of 3ha with exceptional biodiversity (fauna and flora), maintained without pesticides, in a cocoon decorated by the painter and decorator who welcomes you in a historic building of the forge (XIV) 2 km from the thermal baths of Molitg-les-Bains #chainethermaledusoleil #thermes #justcanigo
(note: special spa price on request except July/August - enjoy the treatments of the #thermal baths and the serenity of the #gitedugrandcedre, why not our wood-burning sauna)

Natural river, sauna, remarkable trees in the heart of a luminous forest, flowers, respected wildlife... the thermal baths of Molitg-les-bains 5 minutes away. A few good tables will surprise you.

(follow us on instagram: gite.legrandcedre; facebook: Gîte - Le grand cèdre)

You are far from the brouhahas of villages and other concentrated tourist accommodations linked to the thermal baths of Molitg les Bains
Here, there are no other rentals or rooms nearby, no roads, and not the spa guests on top of each other 24/7.

A garden...
You leave the only house in the heart of an enclosure in your garden surrounded by ancient walls (about 1000 m2 and the rosebushes, banana, lavender, magnolia, etc... are your neighbors. The music is that of birds and the river, a pair of squirrels, a small duke, and some other curious mammals...)
Several secular trees (including the great cedar) and the river protect you from the heat.

Hammock, deck chair or waitress?
A few meters below, in the property, you have access to the Castellane, river already wide and quiet at this place, which passes into the property of Mas de la Forge.
(level 4* - but we don’t want TV... Broadband internet streams).
The holidays are starting and you have the choice to stay away from the hustle and bustle or to participate in the many activities, 5 minutes walk ...
The thermal baths of MOLITG-LES-BAINS are 5 minutes by car, as is the village of Mosset. Restaurants, canyoning, concerts, etc.

You are 500 meters from other houses and the pretty village of Campôme, comfortable accommodation and decor by the owner/ artist, sauna, natural bath,... you are just isolated enough to be in the quiet (no busy road nearby, no other lodges or holiday home) : the river, the birds, the wind in the trees, the scent of the rose garden...

If you have children, they play in the quiet river and the water is soft enough to stretch out to cool off... or enjoy the games available...

The environment in summary
A haven of peace of 3 hectares surrounded by 3 villages: 2km from the thermal baths of Molitg-les-Bains and Massages - several restaurants and coffee. 5km from the medieval village of Mosset (small local producers and grocery store) 10km from Prades (all amenities) and 8 km from the village of EUS (one of the most beautiful villages in France). St Michel de Cuxa Abbey and St Martin du Canigou at 15 and 30 minutes.
Alone, as a couple, with a loved one, with children, or with friends. 5 beds - 2 beds of 160/200cm (including a high-end sofa bed) + booster seat (child under 1.65m).
Dream or work remotely, write or create... or simply to come and enjoy local cultural and sports activities or the valley...
Pablo Casals Festival; of cinema and short films "short circuit 66"; Walled city, cave, and yellow train, markets,... and our recommendations.

This small independent house, for 2 nights or several weeks, allows to discover the many surprises of this region.
It is a four-season cottage. Autumn, winter... the "wood-burning" sauna is on request and completes this moment of calm between the beauty of the seasons in the middle of nature and often under the lights of a very generous Catalan sun.

At your service & on request:
Artistic activities, wine list, local dishes and prepared dishes, basket of seasonal vegetables...

We welcome you in all seasons with joy in this place...
"Well, you get it, this is an exceptional place and we are in love... It is incomparable and all those who come say that it is a paradise..."

A small taste of paradise…

The gite was a beautiful historic building that has been modernized inside with all the comforts one could ask for. Our hosts were warm and welcoming… even their dog! The gardens were an absolute delight. I highly recommend visiting if you love the countryside.

Idyllic stay by woods and water

The photos do not do the cottage justice. Nestled in the Pyrenees, this charming property is built on the remains of an old forge. The hosts live in the old Master’s house, while the holiday cottage is separated by ancient walls and accessed by an old cobbled path. History fills the entire property, and the current owners are ensuring that the sympathetic restoration continues. The cottage itself is three stories open plan and beautifully and tastefully decorated. There is a large master bed and sofa bed downstairs. It is perfect for couples or those with small children like ours (10 and 13, respectively). There is also good air conditioning. The cottage has its own grounds with high rustic walls all around. Even though it was sweltering when we visited, the house and its surroundings were cool because of the large amount of tree cover and being next to a stream. It felt very private, and we enjoyed bathing in the stream, playing croquet, cooking outdoors, and swinging in the hammock. There is lots to do in the local area, and a lot of lovely walks can be taken from the house. The hosts are lovely, very welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasure staying here, and we wish our hosts every success for the future. We feel lucky to have booked such a gem!

Gabriella
