Pleasant house in the center of La Salvetat / Agout

It is the home of my maternal great-grandparents. Ideally located in the centre of the village and close to all amenities.
A large terrace overlooks the river and offers a breathtaking view of the greenery of the surrounding mountains.
On two floors, you will have at your disposal after the clearance of the entrance the living room and its terrace.
On the ground floor a landing opening onto a beautiful living room including kitchen, and two bright bedrooms with a view of the surrounding nature, without vis-à-vis!
Below the house on the river side, the garden that Claudine and Cyprien maintain throughout the year. In the past, the gardens above the river were arranged in terraces, but traditions are being lost.
When you leave the house you can go for a walk towards Le Gouffre. Follow the Chemin du Moulin which goes down to the river. At the end of the path you will take a left of the "Propriété Privé Passage Interdite", to take the footbridge, 30 m further. You walk along old gardens on the left and the river on the right. A hundred metres later, you arrive at the chasm where you can swim, more in summer because the water of the river is cool:) and in autumn you can continue after the chasm to look for mushrooms in the wood, there are porcini mushrooms and chanterelles but you have to look hard to find them...
Back home, you will notice on the other side of the street (La Voie Pastorale or Route de Fraïsse) the Halle de la Source, recently built to replace Jeanne's café, known as the Café de la Source, where Elie, my grandfather, liked to spend the afternoons in the company of Marcelin, the former bus driver. At the time, there were no social networks and we played belote or rummy...
A little further on the road to Fraïsse is the post office from where you can send postcards with photos of the Lac de la Raviège or the Lac du Laouzas or the Saut de Vezoles.
Next to the house on the left is the freshly renovated and welcoming hairdressing salon. And after the show, the pastry shop at Flipo, with the best ice creams in Occitanie and the best macaroons too. But if you don't have the extra time, plan the C.B.
Still on the same side, the bar restaurant of the Balcony where you can enjoy a good menu at lunchtime and in the evening on the panoramic terrace with a bit of luck, otherwise inside and it's still good.
A short walk in the village, for that you have to go up the high street and pass in front of the Crédit Agricole ATM which is very useful sometimes.
After Marc Peltier's real estate agency, the restaurant La Commanderie for its Salvetois Hamburgers.
Just after, Le Chai de la Poterne which offers aperitifs in the evening when the weather is right. You can find very good Fitou but always in moderation.... Right next to the Chai an excellent butcher's shop which has taken over from the Palaysi butcher shop which had set up shop in place of the Chez Berthe hotel when the hotel closed.
On the square on your left, the old bakery of Régis which had to close due to the covid which got the better of many small shops.
Before arriving at the church, you will find on your left, at the corner, a shop that sells good bread from the Aveyron but not on Tuesdays and is run by residents of the ADAPEI home. It is in this shop, which was then a supermarket (the Etoile du Midi, that's why I am called Philippe de l'Etoile) that Elie and Hermance, my grandparents, sold olives in a barrel and kept the Roquefort in the cellar which was particularly cool and humid to preserve the cheese.
We continue the climb towards the Plateforme Forme by the rue des Consuls where the Auberge des Consuls is located, an excellent gastronomic restaurant with a fireplace and a warm welcome.
At the top of the street, the Tourist Office with its free WIFI hour although the 4G works very well in La Salvetat. An alley opposite will lead you to the Platform, the ramparts and the remains of the castle. A little further on the cross of the White Penitents of which nothing remains of the church. It must be said that in La Salvetat life was punctuated by the church tower and Sunday mass and vespers in the afternoons which have now disappeared.
