The worst vacation ever....

Hurricane IAN destroyed most of the condos on the beach side and the owners told us that the infrastructure (like pool, elevator etc) is not yet working and refused a booking. Here in this apartment we were assured by mail that everything is working and fine. On arrival the guy wouldn't give us a pass because we have not been on his guest-list. Finally we got a pass for one night. Then we couldn't find the key for the apartment. With the help and local knowledge of neighbors we found the keys. The fridge and cupboards have been full with left-overs from previous gests. In the fridge was mold as well as on the icemaker at fridge door. The pool was closed for the rebuild, but could use another one in quite a distance. As we had no key for the gate we needed people inside to open the door. The roof was under construction 3 weeks out of our 6 weeks vacation, with hammering and drilling and a huge crane in front of big ceiling to floor window. Only one elevatoor was working and we had to share it with the roof people transporting the personel and material. The blew black dirt on our white car and the managment showed us where the hose is located, not very supportive. The floor in entrance lobby was coevered with dirty card board to protect the floor, the same was in the elevator, at the end of our stay the elevator really looked disgusting. With all these complaints we had no support from the owner and not at all from VRBO. We had to pay the full pre-season price.
