Thank you Anne we had a fantastic week. A great setting with all we needed to relax. Facilities and attention to detail were excellent. The balcony over the river was a lovely place to sit and watch the kingfisher, heron and dragonflies, a parasol would be a great addition so it could be enjoyed in the afternoon and early evening sunshine. We hope to return.
So secluded and so quiet, yet near shops for the essentials.
Ideally located for cycling, chateaux visiting, wine tasting or just lounging on the terrace, a bit of swimming and a bit of baby-foot (table football).
We loved our very relaxing week at the Moulin. We didn't do much apart from paddling in the river on the canoe, playing in the pool and resting on the terrace. The cottage is well equipped and very spacious. We also loved meeting the resident animals.
A little paradise. Anne was really kind and helpful. We loved the pool during the heatwave and enjoyed some trips on the boats. The mill has everything you could need. We chose to not have a car as we needed enforced rest. This place is lovely and relaxing. It is possible but next time we will bring a car so we can see all the sights. We will definitely return.
What a stunningly beautiful setting. It’s like being *in* a painting by John Constable. The river and surroundings are just exquisite. The house is beautifully furnished too. The owner greeted us personally and was warm and kind, and the checking out was very smooth. As others have said, it’s not for the elderly or for young children because the stairs to the bedrooms are effectively a ladder. It’s an old building, so inevitably quite a few dusty corners and the oven is small as is the dishwasher.
A real wow location, in a characterful old water mill. A wonderful piece of France, with plenty too see, eat and drink within an easy drive along pot-hole free roads. The Domaine de Cande was especially interesting, the location of the Traitor King's (Edward VIII) marriage to Mrs Simpson by a corrupt clergyman in 1937.
Lovely property, beautifully located on the river. It is well equipped, with everything that we needed. The rooms are spacious, particularly the master-bedroom. It was lovely to sit on the decking in the evening, watching the sun over the water.
The only slight downside was mosquitos - we needed lots of bug spray to keep them away.
Our family of four finished off a month of travels in Europe with a week at La Breuil and it was perfect. The setting is beautiful and the moulin had everything we needed. Anne responded immediately to any questions. We enjoyed boating on the l’Indre River, exploring nearby towns and chateaux, cooling off in the pool, and eating delicious French cheese and bread! We hope to return to the Loire again and would highly recommend this gem of a place.
Our 2nd visit this year. Stunning location. The photographs are wonderful but still cannot do it justice. The local town is 10 minutes away. Tours is obly 30 mnutes away but the accomodation feels like it is hours away from civilisation. Mill has everthing you need. Recommend highly
As other reviews say. A perfect locstion. I had an issue ( it turned out to me an issie with me not the property) however soemone was sent out within a few minutes. Hope to return
A fantastic week in Monts. The Moulin was ideal: tranquil river location, which was perfect for swimming kayaking and paddle boarding on the river. The children has an amazing time. Add to that the swimming pool, table tennis and table football and they had so much to do!
Guests should be aware the stairs in the moulin are very steep - entirely manageable, but steep! The only other point to note is the oven is limited, so Cooking plans are best made around gas hob options.
In summary, a great spot supported by a welcoming and very helpful host, Anne.
What a situation and what a great conversion to a holiday let.
We were greeted by the host, who had already lit the wood burner, this was most welcome as the weather was cold also left us a bottle of fizz.
We did find the stairs a little daunting but this was down to the fact we were all in our late 70's early 80's.
The main bedroom is vast, triple aspect with great views across the river which is also a bird watchers delight.
A great property in an amazing location.
Excellent place to stay in a simply beautiful location.
I came with my mother to relax and we certainly did. We saw lots of wildlife and caught plenty of fish. Of the one that got away as well.
The local town of monts has a small but servicable supermarket. Tours is a short diatance away.
The accomodation was superb. My one slight issue was that the beds in the back room were very old and clearly for children. It did not detract from the trip though. If i return to the loire valley again this is where i would hope to stay again.
We have stayed in many French properties and this one is unique. Very well equipped, very clean, and the large wood burner kept the whole house warm in late October. Unlimited logs supplied and a lovely bottle of bubbly on arrival.
Host met us on arrival and was very reassuring as there was severe flooding the week we arrived. We spotted deer in the fields as well as kingfishers, cormorants and a large heron. Unfortunately no fishing as the river was very high and very fast.
Incredible chateaus are easy to get to - Chateau D’usse and Chenonceaux. Chinon worth a visit as well as local markets.
Lovely 15 minute walk from the property to the gate through the cyclamen covered private woods.
Would love to come back
The mill is very nice and special, unfortunately the weather was not so good and therefore we had cold in the house. Only one of five electric heater worked in the sleeping room.
In the leaving-room you can only heat by makeing a fire in the fireplace and it takes nearly two hours until is getting slightly warmer in this big room. Unfortunately we could not use the extraordinary terrace because of weather
terms. I guess summer times it would be a great place to stay. I booked this big hours because there are two bedrooms even we were only in two. So I expect that all 4 beds are ready. Also I expect that there is enough toilet paper,(we stayed 8nights) we hardly could arrange for one day and this in two not in four. Ok now there is enough for the next stay we left one package. I know this are little things but makes a stay much pleasurable.
