We are located just steps from the 23 mile Volksweg Trail where you can bike, hike or walk; next door to Ivan's Campground, making us a perfect destination for large group gatherings and moments from Lake Red Rock, Iowa's largest man-made lake where you can boat, fish, or swim until your heart's content. We are also adjacent to the 32 acre Gladys Black Bald Eagle Refuge - making for outstanding bird watching.

For other excitement, check out the Sprint Car Capital of the World at Knoxville Raceway, or visit in early May for Pella's famous Tulip Time Festival. Historic Pella is a treat to visit any time of year with countless charming shops, dining options, and historic points of interest. Golfing is always a fun alternative!

A favorite spot to return to

Our 3rd time staying here, we're never disappointed! Always clean, cozy and inviting, which is why we come back. We've only stayed in the winter, so we'd love to make our next visit in a warmer season so we can utilize all the walking trails nearby.

Cozy and quiet.

Enjoyed our anniversary getaway at this cabin. It is well set up for cozy retreat. Beautiful area with the river and dam for good bird watching.

Refreshing Getaway

My wife and I needed a short getaway to connect and reenergize. Horns Ferry Hideaway delivered on all fronts. We will be back on a regular basis.

Very nice place in a very good location

Everything was clean and the cabin was well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay . Only minor thing was the gas fireplace. It was controlled by the room thermostat so you couldn’t keep it on manually once the set temp wax reached. Kind of killed the “fireplace vibe” sometimes.

Very clean tidy property. Great location, walkable to trails and Red Rock Dam. Everything provided for a very pleasant getaway. Close to Pella for sights n dining. Highly recommend this property!

Lots of wildlife

We had fresh snow the first night of our stay and it was a winter wonderland outside the cabin. We loved watching all the wildlife right out the back windows. Studio set up, no door between bedroom and living room. Convenient location to Pella.

Perfect getaway

My husband and I had a great weekend stay at this cozy little cabin. We went shopping in Pella and went to the races in Knoxville, both towns are just a short drive away. The cabin was super clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location was beautiful, so close to the lake and right next to an eagle refuge. We are already talking about when we can go back!

Very Relaxing!

Everything was as promised and the cabin was very well maintained. The owner called prior to our stay to ensure we understood everything and was very cordial. We really enjoyed the cabin and will definitely stay again. I highly recommend if you are looking for a getaway that is very relaxing you should stay at Horn Ferry's Hideaway and I am confident you will really enjoy your stay.

Fabulous Get Away

My husband and I had to cancel our wedding because of Covid . . . So we eloped to this little cabin instead! The patio was perfect for a little ceremony and it looked out to the river and the bridge, which was super neat! The place was very clean with a full kitchen, cooking was a breeze. The jet bath is the best for relaxing with your partner and the ambiance is great. The owner was super nice on the phone and checked in after our stay but not in a pushy way. The only thing I'd warn is that the internet is a bit spotty, this is not the place to vacation and work at the same time.

Our Favorite Cabin Getaway Yet!!

We LOVED our stay at Horn's Ferry Hideaway! Wow! From the incredible customer service from the owner, Hugh, to the cabin itself, we can't wait to go back. The pictures just don't do the cabin justice. This beautiful, cozy cabin is located right by Red Rock Dam in a beautiful, picturesque setting. It's perfect for couples to get a way from it all. Every detail is taken care of from the furnishings (all look brand new), to a basket filled with tea and popcorn, games, satellite TV, a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, dinnerware, etc., a huge comfy bed, a sunken tub for two, we felt like we were much farther away from home than we really were. We took in some of the area, had lunch at a local winery, wine tasting, and walked around Pella. We headed back to the cabin for the rest of the afternoon and evening to relax. We cooked a full dinner, and had a lovely evening. Deer came right up to the screened in porch to visit, it was just beautiful. Hugh, the owner stopped in when we got to the cabin to make sure everything was to our liking, showed us how to work the Satellite TV, told us more about the area - such great customer service. We are already planning our next little getaway to this perfect little magical cabin in the woods to get away from all the hustle and bustle every day life. Thank you, Hugh for making our visit extra special!

Great for wildlife lovers and hikers

We had a great stay and our host greeted us the day we arrived to give us tips what to see and do. It's a cute cozy cabin and very close to hiking trails. We enjoyed our stay and would go back in a heart beat.

This is a special spot! It's close to home and away from it all. My husband and I enjoyed our visit and were talking about our next. The wildlife is more impressive than average in the part of the country.
