Snow-dusted pines, quiet mornings, and the soft glow of firelight set the tone for a West Shore stay that feels both peaceful and connected. After a day exploring Tahoe’s winter landscapes, you return to warmth - steam rising from the hot tub, the fireplace flickering, and the calm that comes with being tucked into a quiet mountain neighborhood.

The space
Thunder Lodge is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home that comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests. All three bedrooms are located on the lower level, creating a restful retreat at the end of the day. One bedroom features a king bed, another offers a queen bed, and the third is set up with two twin beds. This level also includes two full bathrooms with showers, including a spa-like bathroom between the king and queen bedrooms with dual vanities, heated floors, and a heated towel rack.

A steam sauna and hot tub on the lower level make it easy to unwind after skiing, snowshoeing, or winter walks along the lake.

Living areas
Upstairs, the main living area is designed for gathering and slowing down. The living room centers around an indoor fireplace and a TV with standard cable, making it an inviting place for cozy evenings indoors. Large windows bring in natural light, and a reading nook offers a quiet corner to relax with a book or morning coffee.

Kitchen and dining
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals at home and opens directly to the dining area, where a table seats six. Whether you are sharing a homemade dinner or lingering over breakfast before heading out, the layout encourages easy, unhurried meals together. A half bathroom on this level adds convenience.

Outdoor spaces
A deck off the main level provides fresh mountain air and seasonal use of the gas grill. The home sits on a level lot with a private entrance, making arrivals and departures simple even in winter conditions.

Parking and access
Free driveway parking is available on the premises, along with a heated one-car garage. Self check-in with a lockbox allows for a smooth and flexible arrival.

Work and connectivity
WiFi is available throughout the home, and a dedicated workspace supports remote work or longer stays without sacrificing comfort.

Set in a quiet residential neighborhood on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, the home is within walking distance of the lake at Hurricane Bay and close to trail access at Ward Creek State Park. • Turn thermostat down to 55 (do not turn off!) • Turn lights off, secure and lock all doors and windows • Turn on electric Bear Fencing (if applicable) • Return keys to HRG Lockbox.

Tahoe Family Trip

Wonderful home in a quiet neighborhood close to the lake, beaches, shopping and great restaurants. The house was well equipped with everything you could need. Great for 6 people and having a half bathroom is a plus. Would definitely rent again.

Great house near Tahoe City

I rented this house for a quick girls weekend. Everything was great! House was clean and had everything we needed. The spa was clean and relaxing. Management was always helpful and easy to reach with any questions I had. I definitely recommend this house.

cozy home near lake Tahoe

Stayed here with a group of friends. Comfortable home with a nice big hot tub. Actually the nicest hot tub I've seen but temp locked at 104 degrees. I would recommend lowering temp and providing more towels. we felt there wasn't enough body towels for 6. There was a washer and dryer which helped. The kitchen is well stocked and we were able to cook and bake a lot. The beds were comfy and the location is close to main attractions. There were some crumbs/popcorn on the floor when we arrived, the previous guests may have made a mess that was difficult to clean. the patio table was a nice touch and allowed for a peaceful meal in the back. communication with management was easy. overall a pleasant stay.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The home is in a great location, close to the lake, stores, etc. The hot tub and sauna are the best features of this place. The hot tub was actually hot and pretty roomy. The sauna was really nice too. The beds were comfy but the bed frame was too bulky for the small room so we kept bumping into the sharp corners when walking by. Also the place looked a bit bigger on the photos tbh, but it’s not too big of a deal. Something I really didn’t like though, was that a lot of the mugs in the cupboard were dirty and looked like someone just drank coffee from them and then put them back and the coffee already dried up in them. The milk frother was also not washed. Just unpleasant :/ Overall our stay was good, I think the hot tub and sauna definitely made up for the other little things but I’d really suggest whoever cleans this place to do a better job and make sure all the dishes are clean.

Thunder Lodge 9/7-9/11/23

Beautiful outdoor location, as well as interior decor. Steam room and jacuzzi both available but went unused. Our brief stay took us out and about. All furniture was comfortable EXCEPT the leather couch in LR. Couch needs to be replaced. Fun games were available but we had brought our own. Great Kitchen appliances were available for use. Made great use of appliances and cookware but brought our own stock of food, seasoning and coffee. The overall unit was primarily clean except for kitchen island table. We washed pots & pans before AND after our usage. Kitchen trash and Bear Bins (outside) were all FULL upon our arrival. We couldn’t empty kitchen trash with bear bin full. Bear bin was not emptied until our third day at the cabin. NOT impressed with stair cases up to living room/kitchen and down to bedrooms. I guess I missed the description or pictures that said this was a tri-level unit. Both the STEPS and RAILINGS are unsafe. a. Steps are STEEP and metal hand railing too flexible. & insufficient length. One guest had to BEND DOWN to be able to grab hand rail at either stair location. b. Double-check California structure code!!!! c. NOT a disable-friendly unit. Bath area rugs need GRIPPER bottoms - unsafely slip. HRG staff always courteous. Overall, unit too unsafe for my group but enjoyed our stay in spite of issues.
