Million Dollar View, river house w/ private dock & beach area

Northern Neck Hideaway on the Great Wicomico! Located in Burgess, this 2300sq ft 1950's cottage offers a private dock with 4+MLW, beach area and HUGE yard for entertaining. A 15 minute boat ride will put you at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and within close proximity to White Stone, Irvington and even Deltaville. Inside, you’re greeted with a bright sun porch leading to the fully equipped kitchen with commercial size refrigerator and stove. There is ample seating for your group at the breakfast bar and dining area. Spacious living room with long views of the water, 55" flat screen TV and lots of seating. The primary suite has amazing 90 degree water views, private porch, king bed, Smart TV and attached bath. Second bedroom offers king bed, water views, walk in closet and 32" flat screen. Third bedroom has a twin over full bunk and an additional twin, built in book case with Smart TV and games for indoor actives. Outdoors you’ll enjoy a gas grill, outdoor dining table with umbrella and lounge seating around the fire pit. The dock offers ample room for fishing, built in bench seating with umbrella, fish cleaning area and plenty of room to tie up your boat right beside the private beach area. We have corn hole boards, a kayak, paddle board and sand toys! Only 15 minutes to Kilmarnock and 20 minutes to White Stone, where there are tons of local shops and restaurants to enjoy.
Additional notes: we are on a well so there can be a sulfur smell especially after a good rain. The river is brackish water great for fishing but there can be oyster shells on the bottom and jellyfish around.

Central Location

Wonderful location for ferry to Tangier Island, Reedville, Heathville, Colonial Beach, Kilmarnock, irvington & Whitestone. Lots of shopping & antiquing opportunities. Great fishing off the dock. Lots of room & great supplies.

Relaxing River House

We really enjoyed our stay! The house is well stocked, clean, and the view is beautiful. My son loved playing in the sandy area by the dock. Would definitely come back!

Was a great get away with a beautiful view .

We had our adult children with us and brought our boat and celebrated 4th of July. The property was perfect. We had a great time . Hoping to come back next year.

Amazing view and house

The property is exactly as listed. An amazing view from the house. We spent a week here and it was absolutely the best experience we've had so far. Nice quiet area to take a vacation and have fun with family.

Perfect Getaway

LOVELY PROPERTY, GREAT VIEWS, CLEAN, COMFORTABLE HOME

We liked this home and had a nice stay despite having rain just about the entire 5 days we stayed but we made the best of it. The home was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hot tub was a nice feature. The property was huge and you could not hear any sound from road, which was really nice for us. We enjoyed our stay very much and got a lot of rest.

Wonderful Peaceful slice of Heaven!!! Gorgeous Views!

Truly a remarkable property! GREAT VIEWS! SO CLEAN! Kitchen well stocked. Fridge and Oven were awesome, plenty of room! Dock was awesome. Kids loved being in the water with the Kayak and Paddle Boards. Dawn was VERY responsive and accommodating. HIGHLY RECOMMED!

Lovely, well-equipped getaway

The home was lovely, had plenty of space (especially for just 4 people), and was well-equipped for everything we needed including cooking utensils, dishes, etc. We didn't travel during the warmest part of the year, but still enjoyed the outdoor areas (and the promise of being able to kayak/paddleboard if we felt we'd be warm enough!) The home is located near a few small towns and there are many relatively close restaurants and several breweries/wineries/distilleries to enjoy. We had a great time!

Summer Vacation

House was well stocked with updated appliances. All the beds were very comfortable! Fishing and crabbing were great and there is a crab trap at the dock. We all enjoyed the kayak and paddle board available to use. There is a lot of shade around the picnic tables & fire pit which was nice since it was a pretty hot week. While this property is listed as a dog friendly home..

Relaxing family fun!

This house was perfect for our family of 6. The dock was ideal for fishing/crabbing for the kiddos and getting some sun for the readers. The kayak and paddleboard to use have seen better days but they were so much fun to use in the river. Short trip to the grocery stores and other small town destinations(popcorn store!!). The hot tub inside was fantastic to unwind after your day and the kids appreciated tvs in all the bedrooms. Dawn is a great hostess and answered all my questions in a timely manner.

Million Dollar Views - Truly!

Just what we needed for a “time out”. The house is attractive, clean & easy to find. Dawn responded very quickly to a couple of questions. The dock is quite nice and we spent most of our time there gazing at the water, sky, stars & water birds. Kilmarnock and the Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve are short drives and must-visits. The area was very quiet; no impact from the campground nearby.

Can’t Beat The Location

The title says it all. This property’s location makes it the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy an incredible environment of calm and beautiful nature. We were pretty much glued to the dock fishing, crabbing, and soaking in some sun for the week we spent here. Caught a few fish and plenty of crabs. Our two young daughters keep asking to go back to the house on the river. The kayak and paddle board also got a lot of use and the house itself was very clean and well stocked with all the necessities and then some. Perfect vacation home that really did not have the need to go anywhere else the whole time for a great experience.

Nice place

Nice place clean except some pans were dirty. Dog hair on sofa could of been cleaned up. Disappointed in the little swimming area saw snakes and crabs not for little kids. We were planning on taking our dog but required documentation, but still paid pet free waiting on refund. Have to contact vrbo myself. Quiet place for family not much attractions around. We went to the Compass Entertainment Complex (movies, go carts,golf), Belle Isle State Park. Not a lot of good places to eat maybe because bad reviews.

Beautiful Views!

Overall we liked this location. It is next to a trailer park and it was a little loud on the weekends. Nice pier for tying up our boat. Good crabbing but I would recommend that you bring your own crab pots. The house had nice appliances but could use some better pots and pans. Our main complaint was the sulfur smell in the well water. Is also had a bit of a yellow color to it. With that being said, the host does provide a fresh water cooler although we did run out and there was not a replacement that we knew of. The host was very responsive to our questions. Best parts were the views, the pier, and the outdoor patio area.

Great house with great water views

Very nice house on the Wicomico river. Beautiful water views, with a big dock, with plenty of places to fish (we forgot our fishing poles but in December, not sure what we would catch anyway).. Kitchen was A1 with top notch appliances. Huge refrigerator /freeezer with great oven. Coffee pot is Kurig, so you need to bring pods, although the owners supplied some. No cable or satellite service but all TVS are smart and the internet speed is pretty good. i figured out i could stream my DirectTV so it worked out great. We had a couple of cold nights and the heat worked well. Nice hot tub but it is inside a covered porch so no stars. They also have a big propane firepit just outside the master BR which worked great and came in handy for sunsets. 2 minute drive to a pretty good winery that sells wine and vinegars. also close to other restaurants. If I had to pick at something, I would say the outdoor furniture could use an upgrade, but other that that a great place to stay.

Family getaway

We had our daughter and family (+8 mo old)as well as my husbands father(in his 80's). Everyone slept great in the beds, really appreciated that many basics were provided! The views were amazing but we did have some jellyfish to avoid. Did not have much luck with fishing. I love to paddleboard and kayak but due to how heavy they were could only use one of the kayaks. The layout was a little hard to figure out from the vrbo site pics but the master king bedroom and bath are in a separate wing and very private from the rest of the place. The porch with the amazing view and propane fire table is off of the master bedroom and you have to go thru there to get to it, not an easy space to share with the whole party. Be aware the bathrooms do not have any covering or shades but are fairly high so doubt anyone could see you, just kinda weird. A recliner would have been so helpful for our older family member and i thought i saw one in the pics but they had different furniture when we arrived. We loved the outdoor space and dock! The campground that lies adjacent to it seems a little sketch but other than some mild noise on the weekend it was fine. Owner was great to communicate with, we had a great time!

A few things made me not love this house and I felt that leaving a review will help other travelers. 1) The hot tub is not working. I was informed a week before arrival, which to me is time to get it repaired. Owner said they had tried and just shut it down. The hot tub was a big draw for me. 2) The water smells like sulfur. If the listing would have said this I would not have rented the house. Bathing in smelly water is not enjoyable. 3) Limited to 1 load of laundry or 1 dishwasher cycle a day. Once the owner told us prior to check in about the water, I over packed so I didn't have to wash my clothes in the water. 4) Wi-fi is terrible, you can't stream live sports, and if you want to stream a movie make sure no other devices are on. I had to work remote 1 day and got up early so that I had enough strength to remote into our cloud server. 5) Cell service is bad for our provider. 6) The next property over is a campground with a lot of run down trailers. Looking out the kitchen window is straight out to a RV and unsightly mess. I did contact the owner who promptly replied to me. Their response to a lot of the issues was "spotty". Wifi is spotty. Cell Service is spotty. I had left meds at home, had them mailed, when I asked when the mail ran, USPS service is spotty. The listing showed a hair dryer, I couldn't find one so asked, "oh a previous renter took it with them and I haven't replaced it yet". I just felt the owner didn't care for accuracy or want to fix issues.

Fall getaway

Lovely home right on the water. Dock was very new and HUGE. Sadly, due to a cold spell, we were unsuccessful at our fishing attempts. Beds were very comfortable. Dawn was extremely prompt with any questions we had. Hope to return in a slightly warmer season to test out that dock again!
