About this property
Waterfront home on pristine lake w/ large deck above water, 5 min from Cape Cod
Enjoy the best of all worlds in this sunny, tranquil, waterfront seven room home.
This lakefront haven is situated just 4 miles from the Bourne Bridge and Cape Cod Canal…without the traffic! Located on the shores of Ezekiel Pond (3rd cleanest lake in MA) in South Plymouth by the Bourne and Wareham town lines, the home features three bedrooms (with a brand new queen mattress in the master), a kitchen, two dens (you can enjoy one den while the kids enjoy the other), a sunroom with dining table, one large bathroom, and an expansive deck overlooking the water and dock just 15 feet away. (Two bedrooms and 2nd den are in the finished walkout basement with windows, and the master bedroom is on the main floor where kitchen, bathroom den and sunporch are located).
Hardwood floors upstairs, ceramic tile downstairs, large kitchen with breakfast bar, and a bright open floor plan with plenty of windows and natural light. Complete with central air, gas grill, WiFi, and a new washer/dryer. The best feature of all is the large 26 ft long deck, which sits high among scattered trees and is just 12 ft from the shorefront. The back of the house is west facing, meaning it receives maximum sunshine and overlooks incredible sunsets on the water.
The peaceful, crystal clear, 36-acre, 24-foot deep lake is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and is the third cleanest body of water in Massachusetts. The gradually sloping sandy lake bottom is great for children. There is also a beautiful sandy beach on the lake with picnic tables, available only to those staying on the pond. If you prefer the ocean, Scusset Beach State Reservation in Bourne is just a 15 minute drive. This home comes with a canoe and kayak, and there is a hammock waiting at the edge of the water.
Plenty of stores and restaurants just ten minutes away on Cranberry Highway, and a country store (Sandy Pond Campground) just a half mile from the home. Close proximity to Onset and Plymouth waterfronts/downtowns, with a wonderful selection of restaurants and bars. The house itself is located on a very quiet residential road.
Attractions within 5 miles of the cottage: biking and hiking through Miles Standish State Forest; golf courses including the Atlantic Country Club 1 mile away; Water Wizz water park; Buzzards Bay; the ocean at Scusset Beach; the Cape Cod Canal bike and walking paths.
Enjoy a family cookout followed by a beautiful sunset while relaxing on the deck after a day swimming, kayaking, walking nearby nature trails, or or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of the lake and all the Plymouth area has to offer.
*Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Discount given on two week rental or more.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Tougias

I'm an author of many travel books and several true stories of survival and adventure. It was my dream to buy a house on a lake near the ocean so that I could enjoy the best of both worlds. My idea of a great day at the cottage is to take a morning bike ride, go to one of the nearby ocean beaches to body surf the waves or fish for striped bass, and then return to my cottage for a swim in the crystal clear waters of the lake. And of course, this is all capped off with drinks on the deck while watching the sun set on the lake and a dinner cooked on the outdoor gas grill.
Why they chose this property
While I love Cape Cod, I can't stand its traffic. So from my Plymouth house I can avoid the Cape during high traffic periods (weekends when people are going to rentals is the worst), yet I can drive to the Cape in just 10 -15 minutes at a time that is convenient for me. (There is so much to do near my house, I find that many family members and guests only go to the Cape for a couple brief visits during a week's stay, and instead spend most of their time on the lake or doing an activity in Plymouth or Wareham.) And for those folks that want to go into Boston, our location has easy access to the highway or commuter trains and the trip is much shorter than from the Cape. We give discount extended stays (2 weeks or more).
What makes this property unique
The road our house is on is extremely quiet, and the lake (Ezekial Pond) is peaceful. It is a good size at 36 acres (and 26 feet deep), with boating limited to residents. This makes Ezekial Pond pefect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (great largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing). I also like the fact that while you feel like you are way out in the country, a ten minute drive brings you to Route 25/6 which has every store and restaurant imaginable on it. This roadway also has activities for the kids such as mini golf, go-carts, a waterpark etc. At the house I've put together an entire booklet of some of my favorite places and few secret spots with maps and phone numbers. I want guests to have a week that has a mixture of fun, discovery, and relaxation. My whole approach is that when renters love their vacation at my lake house we all win -- those same people will want to return in future years, and each year they find new things to do and learn their own favorite places.
