Great Getaway!
We celebrated my dad's 80th birthday and had a blast! The owner and property management were very responsive to our needs. The game console and game room were so much fun, and we really enjoyed the outside spaces (fire table, jacuzzi, and balconies) and it was very comfortable for our party of 8. The kitchen was very well stocked, with enough utensils, and dinnerware for 16-24 people, which is rare to find in a rental. We would definitely go back.

Massive escape
This property has plenty of space and lots to do, you don’t want to leave. We stayed 2 nights because we went to Octoberfest the first night and it was just down the street. We relaxed in the jacuzzi after and enjoyed that there are heaters everywhere. Everyone had their own room and bathroom which is always nice with large groups of people. We would love to go back if it’s still listed next year.

It’s actually taken a week to write this…
Aside from my sweet family taking a well-deserved day or so away from busy work lives, aside from them wanting to spend my birthday weekend with me, our stay would’ve been a bust. There were definite housekeeping & mechanical problems, but the biggest suggestion is to say the owner should let his management company manage, period. Our experience was the man just has zero ability to curtail himself. 1. Before we even booked, dogs are shown as allowed but I inquired if they would be okay with our two who are quite large. Mgmt already responded positively to me, & I booked & paid the deposit, including the pet deposit. The owner piped in the next day & instructed to pay the pet deposit directly to him. 2. We felt like it was an overabundance, oppressive amount of correspondence & instruction from him & that’s a story I won’t go into here. Basically there were 3 major mechanical issues, 2 were resolved promptly & competently by mgmt (the 3rd was an issue at construction w/ the washer). The housekeeping was beyond suspect & there’s no excuse for it (several issues including a toupee-sized long black, drain-covering hair mat in BOTH master showers and the backyard is unsafe to walk - nails through wood sticking up, dozens of nails in general, broken glass - unreported). Mgmt was receptive, apologetic, & concurred w/ what was reported. Then the unconscionable manner in which the owner responded to my reporting. The 3 mechanical issues, he emailed to say that was “human error” on our part or it was simply unbelievable. The hair in the drain, he said it was unbelievable because it was “noticed 2 days later” (although noticed 24 hours after check-in & reported at the same time as everything else). Then further said it’s our dogs’ hair & they must’ve been showered! Why would we decide to shower dogs in someone else’s house? I would add these are 2 Great Danes who don’t go in the shower. If they did, why would we do that anyway and then not only show the hair to the owner but then complain about it? I remind, this was a bunch of long, black hair, an amount that would indicate a significant pathological health issue, particularly if lost in a 24-hour period. Beyond that, I have platinum blonde hair, my husband shaves his head in entirety, and both dogs are short-haired - one white and the other tan. More excuses the next day - no apology, no responsibility. After returning home, said he was leaving a good review of us & seemed to be fishing for in-kind.

Last minute family trip!
My wife and son wanted to see the snow before he went back to school. It’s an amazing home with tons of activities. The game room was awesome. Our dog phoebe loved it’s as well it was her first time seeing snow I’m sure she can’t wait to see it again.

great time
It was a great experience. Beautiful house. The ceiling leaked in the garage, which got worse over time, so it affected our ability to enjoy the garage. Also, just as a helpful thought, I think you need more towels for larger groups, or give a reminder to bring some more of your own. Your staff and management are awesome, and we loved the Christmas decorations!

Why they chose this property

Centrally located, not far up into the woods, modern, updated, spacious, and incredible deck areas with wonderful amenities. You will know the moment you set foot in the home - there's none other like it... Every room is spacious - there is no 'cramped' feelings in this chateau! Plus, the double water filtration system that we have installed means that ALL water is crystal clean and clear - you can absolutely drink from the tap! We have a home water filtration system with carbon filter system, PLUS, a second 3-stage filter system with carbon, as well!! You are going to love it!

What makes this property unique

The Grand Chateau is a large cabin, yet central to everything in Big Bear. Off of Division, it's close to the main Boulevard, the Street Fair, the lake, Village... and it's not in Moonridge or West Big Bear, or Sugarloaf. This is as central as you can get - easy access to ski slopes, etc. You want to relax, but you do NOT want a maze to get home... enjoy The Grand Chateau!!
