Private and separate from the main house, guest studio in lovely Hakalau village community. This is an adorable and private room at the back of our detached garage. Easy access and parking, comfortable queen bed, desk space, private bath, spacious shower, HD Smart TV, cable, high speed WiFi and kitchenette. Lush landscaping and bistro garden area.
A short walk from the house is a spectacular rainforest hike down to the shoreline. Surfing, ziplining, waterfalls, and much more within a 15 minute drive from the house.

Nice little place

We didn’t spend too much time in the unit—mostly used it as a home base and place to sleep, but it was excellent for our purpose. Clean and well stocked, and the directions/instructions were clear. Nice area, lots of hiking and things to see nearby (short drives). The beach is harder to get to than a quick glance at the map might indicate, but it’s a nice walk. Check out Mr Ed’s Bakery

This Vrbo is perfect. The owners are super friendly and responsive to any questions you may have. They went above and beyond! We were on the island for a week and this is the perfect place to come home to and rest.

Atmospheric Stay!

This was a perfect place to stay on my drive to Hilo. The atmosphere was incredible—I loved listening to the tree frogs singing at night! The backyard was tranquil and green. The bathroom was also very nice, which is always a plus!

Nice place just outside of Hilo

We enjoyed the location of this rental, and it was nice and clean. It is fairly small, but that was not an issue for us as it was basically just used as a place to sleep between adventures. The interactions I had with the hosts were very pleasant.

Beautiful place and super quiet. Im definitely coming back. The only down side its that there is no AC and it gets pretty hot during the day, besides that this place its awesome.

Wonderful studio, gracious host.

The studio was well kept, lush landscaping, a place to rest and plan for relaxing and enjoyable day trips. The nearby hike in a natural rainforest to the beach had magnificent plants and flowers and streams leading to the ocean.

I'm your host, Karla. I've been a musician for many years and my husband, Jason does marketing for an online children's education company. We came to Hawaii on our honeymoon decided someday we would move here. So here we are. We fell in love with this part of Hawaii because it is so green and lush compared with Los Angeles where we spent so many years. We love the slower pace as well and we're extremely happy about the fact that we never sit in traffic anymore! :)
Jason loves the ocean and surfing. I love the mountains and hiking and there is no shortage of places to go on the island to keep us both happy.
We love exploring, meeting new people and sharing what we learn about the beautiful places we find along the way.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood, the fantastic ocean views and the peaceful community. Beautiful hikes that are walking distance from the house, or plenty of other Hamakua coast activities that are less than 15 minutes drive from the house. Our studio is a great place to make your 'base camp' where you can have a nice shower, get a comfortable nights sleep and then take day trips around the northern part of the island to see all it has to offer. We are out of town, but not so remote that we're completely isolated. The location is a good, happy medium.
