The Island Sands Resort on Maui is located oceanfront in Maalaea, just a short four miles to Kihei and a scenic 15-mile drive to Lahaina. When you stay in this Island Sands Resort condo, you'll enjoy spectacular sunsets, whale watching in the winter, and walking along the five miles of white sand beach. This one-bedroom Island Sands Resort condo is complete with air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, free WiFi, washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, and an in-room safe. This secluded oceanfront property features a private oceanview lanai overlooking scenic Maalaea Bay. Island Sands Maui has both a pool, BBQs, and free parking. Centrally located close to all of the Valley Isle’s activities, shops, and restaurants, the Island Sands is one of Maui’s best condominium values. Spectacular sunsets are a daily event and guests often see humpback whales frolicking in their winter playground.

Nice stay

Convenient location only 15 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Kihei. Staying at this location does mean you're dependent on a car though as the ocean in front of the building is not swimmable.

Great location and absolutely lovely walkout and whale viewing patio! Although the unit hasn't been updated it was exactly what my two adult children and I wanted out of the rental a place: a comfortable, clean, stress free and convenient spot to base our adventures from. I would 100% stay there again.

The only good thing about this property is the location. Very run down. Dishwasher is not attached to the cabinet. Mirror on the lanai is cracked and taped. Cone coffee filters for a non cone pot. The AC is totally inadequate-- the bedroom never cools off. There are no wine glasfewfmatched glass

Not bad, not great

I would be hard pressed to recommend this place until it receives a much needed facelift. Sure, it was clean and matched the description, and the grounds themselves are really quite nice, but a lot of little things made it less enjoyable. The bed is awful and creaked everytime I rolled over, the ceiling fan in the bedroom makes a clicking or grinding noise, and the bedroom is right beside the koi pond (keep in mind the windows aren't air tight so you hear everything happening outside in the hallway). Needless to say we didn't sleep well. Moving into the kitchen the dishwasher has a broken bottom tray. One side of the tray is balancing on one roller. The price we paid for the week is enough to buy a whole new dishwasher, so what's the delay replacing the tray? The knives in the knife block were dangerously dull and need some sharpening - or just replace them all together. Everything else was great - there was a goody bag for us, towels, and like I said, it was clean and otherwise cared for. Great ocean views and whale watching right from the patio, and very central location if you plan to explore the island. Just really needs updating...

We never met or spoke with the owner, just with Vacasa. I couldn't sleep in the nice bed, even with earplugs, because the window in the bedroom was stuck open, with a koi pond and noisy waterfall right outside. I'm a light sleeper, so I had to sleep on the livingroom couch for 6 nights.Vacasa sent a man the day after I alerted them to the issue. He said the window needed to be replaced, and he'd look into it, but it hadn't been fixed by the time we left. Also..one of the lamps in the living room didn't work, and the bottom of the lanai curtain was torn.

I love the location of the property since its centrally located in Maui, we can visit Wailea (South) and Lahaina (West) just in minutes and its close to the airport too. Just make sure you a rental car. The property is clean and functional, all amenities needed are provided. Love the little snack bag provided by the host. We pretty much used the property just to sleep and eat because we did a lot of outdoor hikes and activities. Would definitely recommend this vacation property. Thanks for having us.Mahalo.

Great base for exploring Maui

It's a good place to use to explore Maui if you don't plan to spend much time in the unit. There were a couple of bugs but other than that nothing wrong with the unit it just doesn't have some of the features you may want if you plan to hang out there. Great access to the aquarium, some decent restaurants nearby. Other things are a bit further but nothing more than 30 minutes unless you have a specific destination in mind.

We liked the area, but not this condo.The bedroom was dark, noisy and not very clean. We would have enjoyed this vacation more if we would have slept better. My wife felt the sheets weren`t washed, so she spent time washing them, but we didn`t clean under the bed which had litter under it, perhaps from previous renters.
