Why they chose this property
Kaatsview is a century-old artists cottage in the historic Catskills hamlet of Cragsmoor, New York. Founded in the 1870s by renowned landscape painters of the Hudson River School, Cragsmoor has thrived as a mountaintop idyll for creative types and nature-loving vacationers ever since. Many of the original painters homes still exist today, and have come to form the backbone of the hamlet’s rich architectural tradition. The cottage you’re staying in was once the summer home of Julia Polk Hunsicker, an early-century artist and model whose likeness graces the works of Cragsmoor’s most celebrated painters, including Charles Curran, Helen Turner, George Innis, Jr., and Frederick Dellenbaugh.
