Disliked: Check-in, communication
A modest cabin in need of maintenance and repair. Very clean but with a mouse and rat infestation.
A quiet and cozy cottage on Peaks! Nice cottage with comfortable beds, a smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals when not dining out. In a quiet location but you’re just a few minutes walk from the shops, cafes and restaurants of Peaks. I did not bring a car, and you can walk from the ferry or take a short taxi ride. Would stay again; thank you!
This was a true cabin in Maine experience. Loved the location and the simplicity of the place. The owner was easy to reach and it had all of the basics. Good TV! Very reasonable price. Close to the ferry and lots of places to walk. Would stay there again.
We brought mountain bikes and thought we'd have to keep them in the bedrooms but there was a 'flex' room we didn't expect. Worked perfectly! It was clean, quiet, close to everything and comfy beds. Will definetly book again.
The beds were comfortable and shower nice. Only recommendation is outdoor plastic Adirondack chairs. The one I was sitting on n collapsed . Will definitely keep your property in mind when coming back Jennifer. Thanks again
Jen
We enjoyed our stay on Peaks Island very much. Our host was attentive and responsive to my messages and needs. The house had all of the appliances in excellent working order and everything was very clean and bright.
My only issue wasn’t the host’s fault: I wish I had known that the only laundromat on the island had closed. Luckily as a former island resident, I was able to wash our clothes at friends’ homes. And I discovered there is a private laundry service on the island. I’m aware that many of the rentals on Peaks don’t have laundry facilities, and with the current lack of an island laundromat, it would be helpful to let renters know in advance.
We were given zero info. We did not even have the address. We had to figure out the ferry, groceries & island life on our own. The first day was awful. We were told the cabin was steps away from the ferry. In actuality, it's a half mile up hill. We saw no transportation options, so we hauled our 50-pound suitcase up the hill. It may be helpful to tell you we are 59yo & 61yo and disabled. That walk nearly killed us. The first night was in the 40s, and we had no heat. We almost froze to death. The owner said they'd been to the property and the heat was working for her. The handyman came after I told the owner that we would have to terminate our agreement if the heat was not fixed. The handyman told us that the heater (which was ancient & terrifying) was actually unplugged. So the owner couldn't have been at the cabin and found the heat to be working. The microwave blew a fuse, and the handyman grumbled that he'd have to go down into the cellar to reset it. He said he'd asked the owner to move the fuse box for years, but she's refused. Quite honestly, that attitude of hers was reflected all over that cabin. It was run down and so much was broken. On two occasions, the pedestal sink in the bathroom fell into our laps when we were on the toilet. Further inspection showed that the sink wasn't properly anchored to the wall and the sink & pedestal weren't actually attached. Yard wasn’t well-maintained & next door was a junkyard. Run down, unsafe, no character.
This is an older cottage on beautiful Peaks Island. It’s rustic, priced well, and was clean (my biggest priority). My only issue is that I would have liked a little packet with information including Wi-Fi (I texted Jennifer because I hadn’t seen it on the frig) and info on trash and recycling. Also, I had to reach out for check in info. Her communication in getting back to me was excellent. We had a wonderful time and the lower price was a good option for us.
We had a very nice week for vacation on Peaks. The cottage was great and well equipped for a week. We enjoyed our golf cart rental for the week exploring and having our boat up for the week allowed us to explore Casco Bay. The cottage is a nice value for a smaller family and can absolutely recommend it!
The house was very comfortable. It was in a great location - only about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the ferry. Highly recommend it especially for the price.
Nice little cottage stay that was as advertised. It was a quiet location, not too far from the shops/restaurants/ferry. The cabin has all the essentials and enough space for my family of 4. The coffee maker did not work, so I messaged the host and had a new coffee maker delivery by the afternoon!
Small cottage is in a nice location to walk to restaurants, market, and ferry. Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Photos accurately represent the property. Rented a golf cart to explore the island.
Cute little cottage. My only complaint is that the beds were not comfortable at all and we ended up sleeping on the couches. We had a great time and would absolutely return.
