We are glad that you enjoyed staying at Summer Shade. Sorry the home was not super clean last December. The home has since had a deep clean on February 1st, so it is fresh for the season. We hope you visit again soon!

We are sorry that you did not like the home. We do tell everyone in advance that the home has not been updated with new appliances or furnishings in the listing description, so that should have been expected.

We are sorry this guest was not able to enjoy her stay. We are not sure what was meant about black mold unless there was a little on the tub guard that keeps water inside the tub. We are not aware of anywhere else. If we had been informed about this guest's concerns during their stay we could have asked the cleaning company to send out a housekeeper to clean whatever this guest was referring to.

We are sorry this guest was not pleased with the home. If this guest was unhappy about the floors, we wish they would have let us know during their stay, and we could have asked the cleaning company to send out a housekeeper to redo them. The house is dated, and we always let everyone know in advance about this before booking. This is not a luxury home, and people should not book this home expecting a luxury property for the reasonable rates we offer. We have repeat guests that know what to expect and love Summer Shade.

This guest sent a message at 6:43 pm the day they arrived and did not call to inform me about anything. I just happen to check my messages about 10 pm that night and saw her message and immediately responded. The manager of the cleaning company did not notice that the previous guest had broken the bed frame or notice the pretzels that were very far back against the far edge of the wall on the other side of the bed in a dark area. I had contacted the handyman that night, and he replaced the bed frame and removed the pretzels from underneath the bed the next day. Otherwise, the floors were swept and mopped and the carpet vacuumed. The housekeeper brought a clean bedspread and came to clean the pretzels under the bed too because they did not know the handyman took care of that. However, the housekeeper said the guest told them that it was ok and did not allow them to put the clean comforter on the bed, so the housekeeper left it with them in a bag. After this guest stayed the cleaning manager found the comforter in the bag folded the same way, so they apparently did not even use it. The cleaning manager said that the bedspread that was previously on the bed was found on the floor wet with sand on it as if the guest had used it as a big blanket for the beach. If that was the case, that was not cool as bringing bedding or towels to the beach is not allowed. Regarding the photo of the A/C vent, a small amount of mildew from humidity by vents can sometimes accumulate, but when it is noticed or brought to our attention, it is addressed as well. We do live in Florida. I want every guest to enjoy their stay and always respond to concerns as quickly as possible when I become aware of them. Calls are always much better than an email message though. If there is a cleaning issue, the cleaning company is always willing to correct any oversight. This home is older and not updated but priced accordingly to reflect that. This home is perfect for couples or small families not needing a luxury home but wanting to be close to the beach and to the shops and restaurants of Seaside Resort.

I am the Rental Manager, and to clear up a misunderstanding, I did not say this guest was wrong. What I did tell her is that the manager of the cleaning company, HERSELF, cleaned the home, and yes, I think the manager of the cleaning company would admit if she made an error. She has worked for us for years. This guest's main concern was about what she called a footprint on the bed. We never were shown any videos, not that a video could be verified. The cleaning company manager was going to be called again after speaking to the guest to see if the manager could send a housekeeper out later in the evening because we were not contacted right away, and housekeepers do not usually work at night. However, we were not given the opportunity to even ask the cleaning company manager because the guest had already decided that they wanted to find another place and said they would let us know whether they found another place or whether they would stay. They chose not to stay. The guest did not ask whether they could get a refund if they left for just one night and then returned. They just wanted to find another place, and the guest told me she did not care if they got a refund. This guest commented in her review that the sectional sofa was too small for them to sleep on for one night. I can understand this, but this comment is confusing because if they were willing to sleep on top of the couch if it had been big enough, would they not have also been willing to sleep one night on top of the actual beds that are big enough? Perhaps, after all, the home did not meet this guest's expectations since it is not updated like many of the other upscale homes in the area. Regardless, we always do our best to quickly solve any guest concern when they are reported. Our goal has been and will always be for all guests to enjoy their stay.
