About this property

Lake Cabin Retreat on the Olympic Peninsula

Our cabin on Carney Lake is the perfect retreat for couples, families, a girls' or boys' weekend, scrapbooking getaway, or even group or corporate events. It is a fully functioning home, but tucked into the trees of the Olympic Peninsula with a beautiful view of the lake from the Adirondak chairs on the deck. It is quiet, cozy and welcoming. In the summer, the swim float is ideal for the kids' King of the Float contests or just to bask in the warm sun. There is also canoe to explore the lake in its entirety. There is a fire pit for s'mores and hot dogs and plenty of grass and beach to visit with friends, watch the kids in the water or simply enjoy the quiet.

In the colder months, snuggle up on the big couch by the gas stove while reading, watching movies, tackling a puzzle or playing games.

There are two bedrooms, but also two lofts. Each loft has a futon as well as additional mattresses. There are plenty of soft places to land.

If relaxation isn't the only thing on your mind, we are about 20 minutes from the Bremerton ferries, taking you into Seattle for the day, or head south on Highway 16 to do some shopping and eating in Gig Harbor. Heading west just a few miles will take you to Hoods Canal, and more water and hiking adventures beyond that all across the southern Puget Sound and Olympic Peninsula. And five miles down the road is Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club for the golf and fly enthusiasts.

Whether you are here on business, pleasure, to see friends and family, or to get away, our retreat on Carney Lake will be all you are looking for.

Please ask for special rates/agreements for long-term rental opportunities September - May.

Great weekend away!

We loved our weekend at the lake! Very reasonable price and owners very responsive with pre-trip questions. The outdoor space this house provided was awesome! Huge lawn, fire pit and access to a beautiful clear water lake. Loved it, would love to stay again

Great, but just a few tweeks needed.

We loved the location, right on the lake! The house was big, but with a lot of the beds upstairs, and the stairs are more like ladders, it was hard for the older people in our party to maneuver. Also, the pots and pans were limited, plus there were no small plates, only large. Those are small details, but generally our stay was fun.

Thank you for your stay, Debbie. We will take a look at our description to be sure the loft stairs are described accurately. We will also inventory the pots and pans; a very large set was there just weeks ago. We will also add to the plate set (also complete this summer). We appreciate you letting us know, and do hope you had a wonderful stay.

Fun lake cabin stay with family and friends

We loved our four-day stay at this serene lake cabin retreat! Kitchen, bedrooms and common areas were comfortable and thoughtfully upgraded. Nice beds and soft linens; plenty of bath towels. I appreciated the storage in the bedrooms that allowed us to unpack our luggage. The kitchen also had cabinet storage for food and was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking and serving meals. We enjoyed sitting and relaxing on the cabin's well-furnished porch. The lake and grounds were beautiful and peaceful. Our hosts provided several paddle boards, kayaks and a canoe for our use in exploring the lake. We enjoyed swimming out to the property's premium floating dock that's anchored several yards from shore. The cabin lakefront and shoreline are lined with trees and shrubs to create privacy. There wasn't anything we would have changed--everything was perfect. We loved our stay and hope to return again.

Thank you, Kristen! We always love hearing that other families and friends create the kind of moments and memories we do at the lake. We are looking forward to having you create more memories at the lake soon!

Lovely refuge!

Booked this for a long weekend with my Sailor son. Needed a place where he could decompress away from base, and we could reconnect. Great having kitchen (he desperately wanted to cook) that had everything we needed. More than enough room for the two of us, and my brother and his wife joined us for one night so the lofts came in handy (they are already considering booking the cabin for a summer getaway!). We had a fire in the fire pit, and used the gas grill. We were fascinated by the vast collection of books at the house, and even were tempted to borrow a few and mail back. Lake view was gorgeous -- in the summer it must be so nice to get out there and enjoy it! I was initially worried as the location was not what the website promised (it has since been corrected). I thought the cabin was more centrally located, but it didn't really matter. We were able to get into Bremerton for meals or the ferry within 20 minutes, and it's a lovely drive. Two small suggestions: sharpen the kitchen knives (lol), and provide a spreadsheet for all the remotes! Only real complaint? The WiFi was really bad. It worked well the first day, then was effective only about 10%of the time after that. And, since cell phones don't really work (texting does) out there in the woods, it was a bit of a hassle, as we both had work we needed to do. As my son put his uniform back on early Monday morning to return to his ship, he looked around and said he really didn't want to leave because it was so cozy. Thanks for allowing us to have some great mother-son bonding time! Not only would I stay here again, but I have already shared the listing with several other Navy families!

My father actually bought this house in 1999 as his own home. He passed away in 2008 from ALS and left this beautiful retreat to our family. We live only 45 minutes away, so it is an ideal getaway for our busy lives (three children under 14), but we are also so busy we don't use it nearly enough. We have been so happy and blessed to share it with so many who fall in love with the lake house as soon as they walk in the door. It really is the perfect swimming and canoeing lake in the summer; fire, movies, puzzles and games in the winter. Wine in the Adirondak chairs on the deck is perfect any time of year.
