About this property
Serene mountain retreat - escape to a family-size cabin in the woods
Radiance Cabin (sleeps 2-9) is the newest and largest custom-built cabin on our 200-acre developing eco-preserve in the heart of the Sierra Nevada's. With three bedrooms and a pull-out futon in the large main room, full kitchen, 800-square foot redwood deck, miles of hiking trails at your doorstep, and a developed spring 150 yards from the cabin, Radiance Cabin is the ideal rustic mountain retreat space for families and groups seeking peace, quiet, and a chance to unplug and unwind in the forest.
This rustic high ceiling cabin is off grid and perfect for those seeking a country getaway.
Discover an abundance of local plants and wildlife while wandering through trails canopied with pine, cedar, and madrone trees. Waterfalls and swimming holes are available within 5 minutes' drive, with many more hiking trails and river access points within 30-45 minutes' drive. Our location in the mountains will take you far outside the hustle and bustle of the city, but don't worry - there is a small store just down the road with many essentials, as well as a gas station, organic market, and cafe within 30 minutes' drive.
The Cabin:
Offering more privacy than any of our other cabins, Radiance cabin is a spacious, 3-bedroom cabin that allows in ample natural light but is also well shaded throughout the day, keeping you cool in the summertime. The airy main room and redwood deck offer plenty of space for you and your group to relax, while the custom-built kitchen has everything you need for short and long stays.
PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom in Radiance cabin contains a freestanding tub and sink but does not have an indoor flush toilet or indoor shower. There is a clean outhouse less than 100ft from the cabin and private outdoor shower with hot water just outside the cabin. There is also an indoor flush toilet and indoor shower at the main house just 3 minutes' walk down the hill or a short drive away.
The kitchen in Radiance Cabin is equipped with a large propane refrigerator, 6-burner gas stove and oven, large slab countertop and sink, dining table and chairs, and numerous cookware and utensils. Each of the cabin's 3 bedrooms has a queen-sized log bed and dresser and there is a pull-out futon in the main room which can sleep 2, as well as 2 cots that can be used in the main room (bring your own bedding for the futon and cots).
There is also a wood stove for heating with firewood and kindling provided. Directions for how to operate the wood stove are posted in the cabins, but if you would like assistance please let us know. We are available at the main house from 8am-8pm for any questions you may have.
Please note the fee listed is for two people. For each additional guest there is a charge of $35.
Other things to note:
PET POLICY: Your well-behaved pets are welcome for a fee of $10 per pet, per night. Please note there may be other guests with pets on the property, so any pets you bring must get along with other animals and people.
CELL RECEPTION/INTERNET ACCESS: There is little to no cell reception on the property. Consider your stay an opportunity to disconnect from the virtual world and unwind. However, there is WIFI available outside the main house if you need.
VEHICLE ACCESS: Approximately 24 miles from Nevada City, California, the property is located about a mile down a gravel road. 4-wheel drive is required in wintertime (we are at higher elevation and frequently get snow), but the roads are accessible to any car in the warmer months.
DRINKING WATER: There is a developed spring where guests can obtain fresh drinking water 150 yards away from Radiance Cabin. Please bring your own bottles/containers.
SMOKING/FIRE SAFETY: During high fire season (summer and early fall) we must be extremely careful with fires and smoking. Smoking is allowed on the cabin decks, fire pit and picnic areas, and in your vehicle but not in the outback on trails as it is prohibited by the local forest service.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: On the property you will find many miles of developed trails and forest roads to explore. We are located only 5 miles from Malakoff Diggins State Park and close to the beautiful Yuba River and Bullard’s Bar. The small town of North San Juan is 20 minutes’ drive away and offers several restaurants, a gas station, a locally owned thrift store, and a small organic market. Nevada City and Grass Valley are approximately 45 minutes’ drive away with many options for dining and shopping. Please don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations!
