About this property
Historic Mt Lebanon, The Governor’s Estate
Experience Kentucky history and scenic farm-living at historic Mt. Lebanon while being nestled in the middle of thoroughbred and bourbon country. You will be within 30 minute drive to Keeneland Race Track, The Kentucky Horse Park, bourbon distilleries and the University of Kentucky. You are also just minutes from the well-known Claiborne Farms (Home to Secretariat) and the historical Runnymede Farm.
The recently renovated home was built by the second governor of Kentucky, James Garrard, in 1785 and is still owned by family members. It sits on 180 acres of beautiful rolling Kentucky hills.
Be prepared to be amazed by the features of this home from the stonework to the large, deep-well picture windows, to the antique furnishings (some even being original to house).
This house has been completely renovated with modern bathrooms and kitchen while preserving the history of the original parts of the house. The four bedrooms are spacious with high ceilings and lots of natural light.
You will immediately want to unplug on the back wrap-around porch for serenity with nature or good conversations with friends.
You'll have access to the entire house and can feel free to enjoy the fresh air and walk around the 180 acres of working farmland exploring the barns and creek. You will also want to spend time at the cemetery where Governor Garrard and some of his relatives are buried.
It is 3/4mile off of the main road but just a few minutes drive to historic downtown Paris.
This house is ideal for history buffs, families wanting a farm experience, friend weekends, couples retreats or those just wanting a quiet respite.
