The 2-story single-family home sits on 6.5 pristine acres of tree-studded land, with a meandering path and blueberry patches in the Spring leading to crystal clear, private 225-acre McCurdy Pond lake near the ocean. Strategically located within a quiet, natural setting that ensures privacy, the home is spacious and light-filled and well-appointed for easy living. An outdoor deck with picnic table, bbq, and seating. Beautiful surrounding lawn with firepit add to the enjoyment of the setting. The common areas include a spacious Living Room w/TV, Dining Room, and Breakfast area just outside the kitchen. An inviting master bedroom and bath are conveniently located on the first floor, along with the home's ½ bath, den and working fireplace. Upstairs are an additional three bedrooms and bath, all spacious, comfortable and accommodating for multiple guests. Numerous vantage points in the home draw views of the picturesque lake, which is ideal for swimming, canoeing, and fishing. You can pull the canoe up on the property or at the nearby McCurdy Pond Association dock/boat landing. For added convenience, the house has a full basement and a two-car garage. Great location to points of interest.

Testimonial:: We just got back last Saturday from Maine. We’re still trying to adjust to life in South Florida again, but we keep dreaming of Maine and all its wonders. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and had a terrific time at the lake. We swam, fished, canoed, and picked wild blueberries and raspberries down at the edge of the water. In the evenings we would sit by the fire, roast marshmallows and then step outside to watch the night sky filled with thousands of stars. Though we’ve stayed in other houses in Maine, your house is in a wonderful location and so comfortable. Our favorite activity is to pack a lunch and to go sit on the rock ledge by the lake where we picnic, swim, canoe, and fish. Afterwards we finish our day with a scoop of ice cream at Round Pond. We also explored the different peninsulas, ate lobster rolls (repeatedly), and enjoyed every second of the cool weather. Damariscotta is a lovely little town as are so many in the surrounding area.

It’s a beautiful location and the house is very nice. We wish the water access was easier (and less full of ticks) but other than that, we really enjoyed our stay in the house. It is good for four adults and some children.

Peaceful stay on beautiful property

We had a wonderful time, canoeing on the pond, swimming and watching loons. The owner accommodated our unexpected arrival a day early, which was very kind, and the property manager was responsive and efficient. We hope to be back next year.

This was the 4th time that we have stayed at this property and our family and dogs had a blast. It is secluded but not far from anything. Wonderful retreat

Our family had a lovely time at this property. The lake was great with a few little islands and rocks that were fun to paddle board around. There was a window unit air conditioner I’m not sure if it was listed, but it was definitely appreciated. And I t’s true the walk to the lake is a little long and winding, but it’s also beautiful! We would visit again.

We all loved our stay on McCurdy pond. The house was just fine for our family who gathered to celebrate a birthday. Our favorite part was the rock, water, canoe and we brought kyacks too. The location of the house is perfect too. Spending July 4th there and giving thanks for our freedom was so memorable. Many, many thanks.

Mccurdy Pond is a gem

We were so happy to be back at McCurdy Pond after several years away. It’s so peaceful, with great swimming, paddling and just reading lakeside! And near to the ocean too. The house is great. I even got to enjoy the walk down to the water—a well maintained mossy path. My only complaint was with VRBO, which blocked my access to the owner’s check-in instructions and wifi password, causing me to have to call on arrival ( which was immediately answered).

Beautiful home with a view

We very much enjoyed the location of this property and the view of the lake was beautiful. We loved using the canoe and swimming in the lake. The house does have a significant water problem in the upstairs master bedroom - water leaked through the skylight every time it rained, in the living room at the doors and in the garage. As long as the weather remained nice, this was very easy to look past. We do hope to return again.

Hiking getaway

We booked this location very last minute as our holiday plans were derailed with cancellations elsewhere. We arrived pretty late and had a slight issue upon arrival in which the property owner quickly rectified within 24 hours. Location is ideal for hiking in Acadia, which we did 2 days of, enjoying driving from lighthouse to lighthouse and all the lobster in the area. We immensely enjoyed the canoe that was accessible with the property. Overall house was well maintained and stocked. The only recommendation I would provide is to have non slip shower strips installed. Would stay again.

Wonderful property

This property was very clean upon our arrival and appears well-kept. Furniture is in good repair and comfortable as are the beds. There is no air conditioning upstairs but there are fans. The kitchen area is small but served our needs well and it is well-equipped. With all the torrential rains this summer the path to the lake was a bit mushy in places but all of us thought the path was beautiful and enjoyed the short walk to the lake. The swimming at the lake was even better than we expected. There is a lovely large rock to sit on but there is also a very nice gradual, sandy entrance to the lake. There are some reeds, if you are squeamish about such things, but we loved the swimming and stayed in the water for hours. It's a beautiful, quiet lake/pond and the fishing was good. A great vacation!

Third time at this great property

We have stayed in this home 3 times over the past 12 years and it doesn't disappoint. The woodsy setting is unique to a "lakefront" home and the large grass yard is great. McCurdy Pond is beautiful and quiet, especially this time of the year. The home had everything that we needed, but could use a little maintenance and upkeep. The kitchen utensils were a bit lacking and there could be more seating in the main living room based on the number of guests that can be accommodated. Several of the lightbulbs in the home need/needed replaced and during heavy rain on Saturday evening, there was a minor leak from one of the skylight windows in the upstairs queen bedroom, which made its way (possibly) to the closet in the first floor master. Again, the home was clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would certainly stay here again and recommend to others.

Beautiful Property in a Beautiful Location

We recently returned from a wonderful stay at this home. Laurie was very accommodating as we booked our stay from Monday to Monday (which was much appreciated). If you haven't been to the mid-coast region before in the Fall, I strongly suggest it and if you are looking for place to stay, this home can't be beat. Just don't book the week that we want!! The views overlooking McCurdy Pond were fantastic with the "rock" providing sufficient access for fishing with my young kinds and launching the canoe and my kayaks. The wooded path to the water was great with a well maintained path and the rear yard provided plenty of space for the 5 kids we had with us (all under 7) to play and roam. When in town, be sure that you don't miss out on the local delicacy...no not lobster...Pemaquid oysters!! For my money, they are the best in the world. Freshly shucked on the back porch with some lemon, cocktail sauce, and a frosty beverage is pretty touch to beat. The house itself was clean, well appointed and in good condition. The floor plan is open which was perfect for the 4 adults and 5 kids we had along. There are plenty of bathrooms and I have to say the beds are very comfortable. The only thing missing were a couple trash cans in the garage. We had a yet another great trip to the Damariscotta region and made more great memories. We will certainly be back and would strongly recommend this home to anyone.

Wonderfully private property and lovely trail (3 min) down to the lake where we canoed, fished and swam. The rock has a natural seat and there is a bench there but an additional one or some chairs would have been perfect. The loon calls were so peaceful, think it was my favorite part of our trip. The house was comfortable and spacious for our family of five and two dogs. The back steps off the deck might be a bit steep for senior guests. Really loved the fire pit and picked up some local firewood for $2 a bucket down the road. Would love to stay here again.

This home is beautiful and the outer surroundings are fabulous. I would highly recommend air-conditioning on the upper level along with re-installation of window screens in an effort to gain reasonable ventilation.

Wonderful time…

Overall it was a great experience for 5 teen boys and 4 adults. Beds were very comfortable which makes a difference. The walk to the lake no ideal but we enjoyed the rock and swimming. It was great to be back in the area after 2 years off. Not far from all the great local attractions. Kitchen could use an update of cooking supplies but overall a great time. Thank you for sharing your Maine cabin.

Such a beautiful house with interesting art, a stunning view over the lake and the best fishing and canoeing spot. We would love to return to the same place again! A few more mosquito screens would be amazing : to be able to keep windows open and listen to the earie calls of the Loon.
