**Three Springs Myndus — Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia**
*Where the mountains breathe and time slows down.*
---
The name says it all. Three Springs Myndus — a place rooted in the land, shaped by water, and made for the kind of rest that actually restores you. Tucked into the folds of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this four-bedroom, 3½-bath mountain home offers the rare combination of genuine seclusion and effortless comfort. Arrive to the sound of rushing water — a clear mountain stream winds along the base of the property, its gentle murmur the only thing on the evening agenda. Whether you're here to unplug completely or use this as your base camp for adventure, Three Springs Myndus delivers on both.
---
**The House**
Three Springs Myndus is a full two-level home with generous space for larger groups, extended families, or two couples who want room to breathe. Four bedrooms and three and a half baths mean no one is waiting in line for the shower and everyone has a comfortable place to land at the end of the day.
The main level sets the tone — open, welcoming, and oriented toward the mountain views. Downstairs, the walk-out basement expands your living options considerably. A separate sitting area, dedicated dining space, and full kitchen make the lower level a genuinely self-contained retreat — ideal for guests who want their own rhythm, teenagers who need their own domain, or simply an overflow space when the whole group gathers and spreads out naturally across both floors.
Gas fireplaces on both levels mean warmth and ambiance are never more than a click away, whether you're gathered upstairs after dinner or settling in downstairs for a late-night movie.
High-speed internet keeps remote workers productive and keeps the kids happy on rainy afternoons — though we suspect you'll find better things to do with your time here. Guests arriving by electric vehicle will be pleased to find a dedicated **EV charging station** on-site, available for a modest additional fee.
---
**The Deck — Your Outdoor Living Room**
The heart of Three Springs Myndus is the expansive deck, and once you step out onto it, you'll understand why. The gas fire-pit takes the edge off cool mountain evenings, casting a warm glow while you watch the last light fade from the ridgeline. Gather the whole group for an after-dinner conversation under a sky full of stars. Fire up the gas grill for a proper mountain cookout, pour something local, and let the night unfold at whatever pace you choose. Mornings out here — coffee in hand, mist rising from the hollow below — are worth the trip alone.
---
**The Setting**
Three Springs Myndus sits along a quiet half-mile dead-end road — the kind of lane that was made for slow evening walks. Stroll it at dusk as fireflies blink on in the meadow edges, or wander out in the morning without a care in the world. There's no through traffic, no noise, just the kind of stillness that takes a day or two to fully settle into.
Below the house, the stream offers a natural soundtrack around the clock. In warmer months, it's a cool place to sit and dangle your feet. In all seasons, it grounds you in the landscape in a way that few other amenities can.
---
**Explore the Region**
For those who want adventure beyond the porch, Three Springs Myndus is extraordinarily well-positioned.
**Outdoor pursuits** are practically at the doorstep: the Blue Ridge Parkway is a short drive away, offering some of the most scenic driving and cycling in the eastern United States. Crabtree Falls — one of Virginia's most dramatic cascades — is within easy reach, as are countless hiking and biking trails threading through the surrounding national forest.
**Charlottesville** is a comfortable drive and offers world-class dining, live music, the University of Virginia's stunning grounds, and a thriving arts scene. **Lynchburg** is similarly accessible for a day of exploring, dining, and history.
**Wine, beer, and spirits lovers** are in heaven here. The region is home to some of Virginia's finest wineries, artisan breweries, and craft distilleries — many of them tucked into the very hills you're looking at from the deck at Three Springs Myndus. Plan a self-guided tasting tour, or simply follow whatever road looks most interesting.
History buffs will want to make the short trip to **Schuyler**, the real-life home of author Earl Hamner Jr. and the inspiration for **Walton's Mountain**, made famous by *The Waltons*. The nearby Walton's Mountain Museum is a charming, nostalgic stop that shouldn't be missed.
Outdoor water enthusiasts will appreciate proximity to the **James River**, one of Virginia's most beloved paddling corridors, offering everything from flat-water floats to Class IV whitewater depending on where you put in.
**Wintergreen Resort** is also close at hand, making Three Springs Myndus an ideal home base for skiing and snowboarding in the winter months, or mountain biking and golf when the snow melts.
---
**The Bottom Line**
Three Springs Myndus isn't just a place to sleep between excursions — it's a destination in its own right. The mountains, the stream, the fireplaces, the fire pit, the deck, and that quiet dead-end road have a way of recalibrating your sense of what a good day looks like.
Come for the weekend. Leave already planning your return.

Three Springs did not disappoint! The listing is accurate but doesn't do justice to seeing the beautiful ("arboretum") grounds and view from the deck. The interior was clean, roomy, and comfortable for us 5 adults (and nearby family of 4 who came to dinner one evening). The air-conditioning and wifi worked well and the beds were very comfortable. We also rented the downstairs unit (originally thought we'd be a group of 7 adults) which is like a little apartment all to itself, connected by an interior stairs - something to keep in mind if you need a little more space or a second refrigerator. The location is out in the country but offers quick and easy access to Route 29 just north of Lovingston. We loved the peace and quiet. Also, Debbie was a joy to work with and responded very quickly anytime I had a question. We hope to stay here again!
Everything was very nice and clean. However, one suggestion-the downstairs bedroom apartment has a problem with crickets on the floor.
The host was very helpful with everything and I’m sure this problem will be quickly resolved.

This year has been especially difficult with crickets. We have an exterminator come to the house once a month and I've addressed the problem with him. He's indicated there's not much more aside from the treatments that he provides that can be done as the problem is common in the area this year. We do our best to minimize them.
About the host
Hosted by Deborah Harvey
Some people spend a lifetime searching for a place that feels like home. We were lucky enough to be born into ours. I grew up in Nelson County, deep in the heart of the Blue Ridge, where the mountains aren't just scenery — they're part of who you are. The ridgelines, the streams, the country roads, the neighbors who've known your family for decades — it all shapes you in ways you don't fully appreciate until you've been away for a while. When my husband and I had the chance to come back and raise our own family here, we didn't hesitate for a moment. Our roots in this area run deep — generations deep. We know which trail rewards you with the best view, which winery pours something truly special, which back road is worth the detour, and where to find the kind of quiet that the rest of the world seems to have forgotten. Nelson County isn't a place we discovered. It's a place we've always known, and that makes all the difference in how we share it. Three Springs Myndus was born from that love. We wanted to create a space worthy of this landscape — somewhere guests could arrive as strangers to the mountains and leave feeling like they'd found a small piece of something rare. A place with enough comfort to fully relax, enough beauty to genuinely move you, and enough room for the people you most want beside you. When you stay with us, you're not just booking a rental. You're getting two people who are genuinely invested in your experience — neighbors, really — who want your time in the Blue Ridge to be everything you hoped it would be and then some. We can't wait to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
This isn't a neighborhood we selected from a map or discovered on a weekend drive. It's the landscape of our lives. The view from Three Springs Myndus looks out across the part of Nelson County where my parents and I were both raised — rolling ridgelines, quiet hollows, and the gentle geometry of an apple orchard that shaped my earliest memories. I know those hills the way you know a face you've loved for a long time. Every season brings something familiar and something new, and after all these years, that view still stops me in my tracks. Three Springs itself was my parents' home. It carries their story in every room. When the time came to think about the property's future, converting it into a short-term rental felt like the most natural answer — a way to honor what it meant to our family while keeping it alive, cared for, and shared with others who might love it just as much. My mother poured herself into this place in her final years. She developed the gardens with patience and intention, coaxing beauty from the mountain soil season by season. She decorated the home with the same care — choosing pieces that felt right, that belonged, that told a quiet story about a life well-lived in a place deeply loved. Her touch is everywhere here, and we wouldn't change a thing. What we enjoy most is simply this: sitting on the deck in the early morning, listening to the stream below, watching the mist lift off the ridges where our family has lived and worked for generations. It is unhurried and completely ours — and for the time you're here, completely yours. We hope you feel it too. We hope you find rest here, and beauty, and maybe something you didn't know you were looking for. Welcome to Three Springs Myndus. Make yourself at home — because in every sense that matters, it is one.
What makes this property unique
There are mountain rentals with good views. There are quiet retreats tucked away from the world. And there are well-located properties close to everything a region has to offer. Finding all three in one place is rarer than you'd think. Three Springs Myndus is that place. The views here are not incidental. They are the whole point. From the deck, the Blue Ridge unfolds in every direction — layers of ridgeline dissolving into sky, the same landscape that has defined Nelson County for generations. Look out toward the west and you're gazing across the very hollows and hillsides where this family planted apple orchards, raised children, and put down roots deep enough to last a lifetime. It isn't a postcard. It's a living, breathing place that changes with every hour of light and every turn of season. The quiet here is the real thing. Sitting on a private half-mile road with a mountain stream running below, Three Springs Myndus exists in its own unhurried world. No traffic noise, no neighbors crowding the view — just birdsong, moving water, and wind working through the tree line. Guests routinely tell us they forgot what genuine silence felt like until they spent a night on this deck. And yet you are never far from anything. Wineries, breweries, and distilleries are minutes away. Charlottesville and Lynchburg offer exceptional dining, culture, and entertainment. Wintergreen Resort, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Crabtree Falls, the James River, and some of Virginia's finest hiking and biking trails are all within comfortable reach. Most retreats ask you to choose between seclusion and access. Three Springs Myndus quietly refuses that trade-off — and that balance is what makes this place genuinely one of a kind.
