Sea Spray Cottages were built in 1950. There are 5 cottages in total, each cottage is similar to the others, but unique in its own way.
My wife and I have been operating the SEA SPRAY COTTAGES OBX for vacations rentals since 2009. We run a mom & pop operation, an experience from a day gone-by but thoroughly enjoyed by our guests.
Sea Spray Cottage #3 rents weekly only in the summer, Sunday to Sunday. We will consider partial weeks, if the stay starts or ends on a Sunday. You will have to inquire about that option. The pricing of this unit will mirror Cottage #5 pricing for part-stays in the summer.
Sea Spray Cottage #3 is perfect for those looking for a quaint space to enjoy time at the beach. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other bedroom has 2 twins. It has a comfortable living room with wide-screen TV, galley kitchen, and sweet breakfast room. You will not believe how comfortable and charming it is until you spend some time there. If you are looking for a private get away or to vacation with just your immediate family or just you or just your significant other, this is the place.
Dogs are welcome, we try to keep it to 2 (the cottages are primarily for folks). $125 for the first two and $100 each after that.
The location can't be beat. The beach is just across the street and at about mile post 11.7 (just south of Nags Head Pier and north of Snowbird's Soft Serve Ice Cream), all of Nags Head's offerings are close by.
The cottage has a front porch for lounging and enjoying your favorite beverage as you watch the world go by as folks stroll, run and bike along the multi-use path that is across the street. The cottage also has a private back porch, patio in the rose garden, and fenced in yard. Bed linens and towels are NOT provided, but Billy or assistant manager runs a side gig and can hook you up, if you prefer not to bring your own.
Check in is at 4 and check out is at 10:00.
If your desired dates of travel are not available in this cottage, we have others. There are 5 cottages in total at Sea Spray Cottages OBX, all similar in vintage, but unique from one another. If you are a regular on the Outer Banks, they are the gray cottages with the pink doors on the beach road in Nags Head.

Nice small house that was perfect for our get away. Glad it was dog friendly and an easy walk to the beach. Would book again.

The cottage is lovely, pet-friendly and welcoming with a fenced in backyard, in a great location - we were so happy to have found this spot and can’t wait to return!
The host provided very timely communications, detailed information/instructions, cottage was clean and appliances, and amenities modern and operational. Attention to housekeeping and bedding very good.
This property was perfect for our little family getaway. We brought our dog and it was set up perfectly for both him and the family to enjoy. Within walking distance of everything we wanted to do in a beautiful/quiet location. We would absolutely book here again!
We loved this rustic cabin. We could easily walk to the beach and were halfway between cape Hatteras and Corolla. It had all the ammenities we needed. Host was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
Quiet cottage in residential neighborhood. About 100 yards to a sand dune "walk thru" with nice viewing platform overlooking the beach. Well stocked kitchen; great air conditioning. Great price.
Great little place with everything you need. Maybe a 2 minute walk to public beach access you are right across the street from the beach. John is very nice and responds to messages quickly. I cannot recomend this place enough. If you want a place to stay thats close to the beach and affordable stay in one of these cabins.
Everything was as described and met our needs perfectly. Our only suggestions would be a repair of the front screen door, house flies were a menace., and some additional eating forks and spoons.

Actually it’s coming off. Screen doors can’t hold up with our wind down here. Thanks for the heads up on the utensils. Have a ton of them in the barn and would have provided more during your stay had you mentioned it then.
Fun, shabby chic decorated beach cottage from an earlier time.

great spot, cozy little house!
nice beachy house...far enough away from the beach road but close enough to the beach. Well appointed with all the necessities. We even met John due to some concerns about flooding in the back. Will stay here next go around!

It was great meeting you and your sister and look forward to hosting you in the future. Crazy, the folks behind us were sinking in their pool, which required them to pump up ground water that settled on back of their lot adjacent to our cottage. After a conversation with the pool contractor, all was remedied.
Accommodations were as described and met our needs completely. Quiet, comfortable, and private. We were in the area for it's history so were out most of the day. Only complaint was that the door to the "twin beds" room wouldn't close without something holding it closed. I would stay here again.

glad you enjoyed the stay and cottage. thanks for the head up in the door, not something we would discover when we are cleaning and prepping for guests. wish you gave us a heads up while you were there and we would have seen after it.
Lovely cottage with real wood interior in a great location. Everything was nice and clean. Central AC. Kitchen is well furnished with basic dishes and flatware but we did bring our mobile kitchen with a heavy frying pan, carbon knives, coffee-making, drink-mixing kit. Beds are good (bring your own sheets). Short walk to the beach, near restaurants and services. Great communication.
A quaint cottage with all wood interior. All the basics you need. Nice and clean!
Could use some maintenance paint ,screens on front door and back door.
Some landscaping maintenance in back would be nice.
We had a great relaxing visit. The owners and management were so kind and responsive.

Thanks for the feedback. The screen doors are on their last leg. It's a fulltime job keeping up with them given the OBX wind and our 4-legged guests. Once these go, they will not be replaced.

quaint beach getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was clean and well stocked. I liked that there was a dining area for our family to enjoy some meals at home. It was a short walk to the beach, just across the street, and we also enjoyed the ice cream shop just a couple of minutes away. One of the highlights was a day exploring the sand dunes and swimming in the sound at Jockey's Ridge State Park, which was also just around the corner. I loved the location and the cottage. Our host made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing that was less than ideal was having to arrange bedding and towels separately through the housecleaning service, which was an extra expense and we had to make all the beds on our own. But, I would definitely recommend this cottage. We enjoyed it, and we would love to come back!

Glad you enjoyed the cottage, your stay, and the area. And thank you for raising the linen issue, it warrants discussion. Most of our guests (85% or more) prefer to bring their own linens. I am not sure if that is for financial reasons or otherwise. That is, however, the tradition on the outer banks and with most beach areas where you are not renting from a true resort, hotel, or a large rental agency (with large price-tags). But, in our shared economy that tradition is being challenged. To meet that challenge, we have paired up with our cleaner to ensure that linens are available on premises, if our guest choose not to bring their own. This service is a-la-carte. We have found this to be the most economical for all of our guests. If we "included" sheets and towels for all of our beds and guests for each stay, our prices would have to increase significantly and I believe as we would have to hire someone on a fulltime basis to keep up. Accordingly, we will continue our current practice for the foreseeable future. Just reach out if you would like to rent linens and I will provide you with my cleaner's contact information. It is a pretty easy process and her rates, I am sure, are one of the most affordable options available on the beach.
For those people looking for elegant, upper crust accommodations, this isn’t your place. These cottages were built a long time ago, and is a reflection of what I would describe as “fishing cabins”. Wood paneling and ceilings throughout, small but adequate kitchenette. There’s a nice, large HDTV, queen bed in one room, two twins in the second bedroom. The cottage is centrally located on the beach road, away from the major traffic on the bypass. It is in the middle of the Outer Banks, so either direction is an adventure. You cannot see the ocean from the cottage due to the extensive buildings on the ocean side of the beach road, as well as the sand dunes, which help to protect the properties.
We chose this location to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. In researching rentals, I found these cottages (there are a total of 5), to be among the very few that accommodate just two people. Most sleep 6 up to 20, and are priced accordingly. Also, the cottages are pet friendly, which isn’t easy to find. Our 2 labs were right at home.
The front porch has comfortable chairs, and a gate to contain pets or children. It makes for a relaxing afternoon, and was enjoyable to get to know the like-minded neighbors!
A large variety of restaurants are close, or just fix a meal in the kitchen or on the available grills. It’s the perfect get-away for retirees or “red-necks”……like us!
The places was perfect! Listing photos show you what you get, and if anything, downplayed the charm of the place. It was perfect for my family of 4 and our furry friend who loved the fenced yard. Easy access to the beach and a short walk from a burger shack/ice cream spot made it perfect for solving all children complaints of “I’m hungry” and “ I want ice cream” :D Great communication before, during, and after and I hope we will be back soon!
My wife, Laura Lee Garrett, has been vacationing on the Outer Banks her entire life. She introduced me, John Vollino, to the area when we were dating and have been vacationing there ever since. In 1991 we purchased our first cottage. In 2007 we purchased the Sea Spray Cottage Court. They were built in 1950; there are four cottages in total (two available for vacation rentals).
Why they chose this property
Sea Spray Cottages were slated for demolition to clear the lots for construction of 2 large 5-bedroom cottages. We purchased the lots with the requirment that the cottages remain. With preservation in mind, our intent is that we and others can enjoy a simple, yet confortable stay at the beach in a historic property.
