Location was convenient to beach and restaurants. Great property backing up to water. Nice views and comfortable house with neat eclectic decor!!! Would stay again!
Perfect place for us to stay. On a quiet street within walking distance of the bridge over to the island. If the fishing had been a little better it would have been a perfect vacation.
We enjoyed the atmosphere ..Its corky but definitely unique..We felt like we were at our second home..Overall this is our second time, and we will be back..Oh and its on the water..We could hear the ocean from the back seating area..Give it a try..
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect…close to the beach, stores, restaurants, and fun activities…yet also quiet and private.
We loved having fishing equipment and the ability to fish from right in the backyard!
2nd time staying at fish camp for our guys trip. We really enjoyed fishing the sound in the back yard & Surf City area. Clean lovely home with everything thats needed to enjoy vacation for small family
The place was absolutely gorgeous and spacious. And looked just as described. My family and I had a wonderful relaxing vacation here. We fished and crabbed and just relaxed by the water and enjoyed the beach during the day which was a very short drive. The best of both worlds! Great place to stay if you are not into beach front but love the water! Justin was very responsive and helpful in every way! I would definitely make a return trip and recommend this place to anyone! Thank you for the wonderful memories!
Cute little quirky place! We had a great week. Owner was quick to respond with answers to questions. While the layout was a bit unusual, it worked. The new deck furniture was really appreciated. The kids loved being able to fish from the backyard.

Loved it
Only issue I had is it is a bit over grown, scratched my new truck pulling into the driveway. The house and the property is awesome, someone put a lot of thought into the place for sure!
You have an unique place. Very interesting collections and decor. I found the outside vegetation and plants a bit overgrown. I was surprised when we drove up. We found the inside clean and and very well laid out. . My son in law enjoyed kayaking and fishing in the water behind your place. My daughter and I enjoyed the beach and walking over the new bridge for a morning outing. Thanks for allowing us to rent for the weekend.

Puts the 'Fun' in Funky
This is a sweet place. Lots of personality, well equipped kitchen, sharp knives. Not the best location for walkers or beach access, since the highway doesn't lend itself well, and location is on mainland side of swing bridge. Since the weather went chilly and rainy, it was fine for curling up with a book. Good wifi, good selection of books & DVDs. Master bathroom ceiling leaks (oops!), and other cleaning, maintenance indicated...
The place was exactly as described. Very clean! There were a couple hiccups but after communicating (with quick response) with the owner they were quickly addressed!! Definitely recommend!
Parts of the house however are not for the very tall! My husband (6’3”) had a hard time in the shower and kitchen but nothing that would keep us from ever booking a return visit! Really enjoyed being able to dish from our backyard!! Our family of four fit comfortably for the week with plenty of space to have some quiet time as well without feeling cramped on top of one another!!

Enchanted Cottage
The official name is Cozy Waterfront Cabin, but my cousin and I thought it was the Enchanted Cottage. It is adorable and sparkly clean. The entire place is filled with eclectic treasures. We saw something new at each turn. It was like spending time in a museum with many interesting things from the past and collections. The furniture is comfy, functional, and the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed. It is located on a beautiful river with places to sit and enjoy the view.
Be careful of the uneven floors, but we navigated just fine for a quartet of seniors. We enjoyed our stay.
The house was as described. Lots of room and beautiful back yard. Some home decor is a bit eccentric but just made it interesting. The back building with the screen porch is very relaxing. The home is much larger than in the pictures. Justin, the homeowner is very easy to reach and very responsive. The location of the home is nice. Close to the the grocery stores and there is an ice cream shop a short walk away. We didn't do that well fishing or crabbing this week out back but that's fishing. Great sunrise on the back porch to see with your morning coffee.
The beaches were nice. But fair warning to newcomers to the area. Parking lots over the bridge in town and at beach access areas are pay to park. And is strictly enforced. Go left at the end of the bridge towards North topsail beach and there are Onslow County free parking lots with easy access to the beach.
Overall, Great stay and we enjoyed our time there.
The property was as advertised. There are numerous minor maintenance issues such as door and sink fixtures were loose to falling off, holes in the screens or missing screens, broken windows, missing light fixtures, and loose boards on the back porch. A little TLC could resolve those issues. The biggest issue we had was a horrible smell of something dead as soon as we walked into the house, to find a dead, rotting crab beside the computer desk. There were also mice that ate anything left on the counters every night. The location is amazing as it is close to the beach but away from the crowds for quiet evenings. The yard and water access was nice. The beds are all very comfortable but the adjoining bedrooms were a little awkward. I would recommend this house if the issues were all corrected, but probably would not return myself.
First let me say the host, Justin was a very responsive nice person to communicate with. This property is truly unique. Every room is filled with antiques. My husband and I being in our late 60's could relate to the furnishings within the home.
The home sits on a quiet street. We felt safe and secure in the neighborhood. It is about 2 miles from Topsail which is over a long bridge to the beach and ocean area. The home sits on an inlet area. We enjoyed the herons and egrets.
The master bedroom was wonderful with quality oil paintings and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. It was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it, lol. The kitchen had everything you'd need and room to prepare it.
You could tell the place had a history. It started out as a mobile home and was added on to from both sides. With the many upgrades it was hard to tell.
The outside porch/deck area had really nice furniture where I sat and played my guitar a couple of mornings. The firepit area down by the water was our favorite spot in the evenings. We'd watch the moon come up. It was truly lovely being so close to nature and the wildlife of the waterways.
We loved the place and our stay, but to be fair in the review I need to mention two things. One was the neighbors yard light that was so bright you could hardly see the stars at night. The other were the windows. No screens, many didn't lock or close fully. I'm sure those upgrades will happen. I know windows are costly. :>)
The location/view was amazing.. if the review was solely based on that I could give ten stars…
But…..
The property needs a lil love. The screens at both the front and rear doors were ripped/detached allowing insects( and the occasional lizard) to get in..
The furniture, while unique, wasn’t the most comfortable and the table on the deck was entirely unusable.
The biggest issue was the bed in the master. Was it comfortable? It was, very. Was it almost impossible to get onto? It was. The bed is very very tall making it nearly impossible for anyone who may be short (or with any type of mobility issues for that matter) to easily get onto the bed without some kind of assistance. I feel that information should be part of your property description.
We all loved our stay. The house was great and in a quiet location. Loved being able to walk out the back door and able to fish anytime I wanted. We sat around the fire pit at night and just relaxed and talked. That is something we just don’t take time for anymore. I would stay here again.
Owner was extremely easy to work with, did not encounter any issues with the property. The location was wonderful, the neighborhood (& neighbors) were very nice, Oct weather was wonderful. I'll be back! My son loved it and may try to buy it! (JK...a little). Kitchen had EVERYTHING needed + and the beds were so comfortable. Enjoyed the fishing, rented a boat and had a blast and the cool weather was perfect for a fire at night. ***** Retirement can't come fast enough!
This was such a beautiful, very clean, spacious & welcoming home! Definitely plan to stay again if available & would highly recommend to persons of interest. Overall fun inside home or outside fishing.
