This house was amazing! There was plenty of space and seating for our group of 8 to gather in common areas. The cleanliness was pristine. The owners were easy to communicate with and were responsive to all requests. I highly recommend this property.
Beautiful location for a getaway weekend for me and my family
The Barn is a gorgeous home with very sophisticated art and furniture. The home is really comfortable, eight of us easily fit in the living areas and the beds were super cozy. We took a short drive to the town of Litchfield and had a fun time exploring the shops and restaurants there. Perfect place for a relaxing weekend.
The house was so cute and so clean. Loved the layout! And our kids and their teen friends had a blast. The town of New Preston is adorable. Alicia was so easy to reach and all went so well!
The Barn is a comfortable and welcoming property. It was our first visit to the area and we found there to be a range of interesting options. The property is well appointed and very spacious. It is generally well maintained and in keeping with the website photos. We were disappointed with a few issues that were either not working properly or broken but they were not showstoppers. As frequently is the case with VRBO rentals, the property could go from very good to great with a few modest investments, attention to details and modest improvements, particularly at this price point. The hosts, or property manager, was very responsive and helpful to our requests. All in all, a very positive experience. Thanks!
Excellent interior design and architecture, beautifully executed. Kitchen access and function perfect and made cooking and serving a joy. All amenities were available and functional. Hosts were available and helpful throughout our stay our family of 12 included adults. And six grandchildren.
We loved staying in your beautiful home. There was room for all eight of us to sleep comfortably and hang out together. The home was clean and well stocked, and there was nothing more that we needed to make our stay perfect. The hosts were responsive and lovely to deal with. They answered every question in good time. The only problem is that we left 2 gray raincoats--possibly in the closet near the front door. Please let us know if you find them. We will pay for the shipping. Thank you again, Alicia and Harry
We rented this lovely home to stay while we attended a family wedding in the area. Our adult children and two grands enjoyed being together in this comfortable and clean home. We were grateful that each family had its own bathroom. Our granddaughter loved playing ping pong too. Highly recommend!
The photos don't do this property justice! It is more spacious and the decor is more upscale than depicted. Plus you just can't capture "CLEAN" or "comfortable beds" in a photo. It's in a very rural area, but the nearby town is sooo quaint. Unfortunately, we weren't here on a pleasure trip but we'd love to come back to explore the town. We did get pizza at The Owl, which is not your usual pizza joint, their pizza's are gourmet individual pizza's. The cocktails were interesting and the ambiance and service was worth the visit. Thank you so much for opening your home to us. It was much appreciated!
Four college friends and spouses in our 60’s spent a relaxing 2 nights in Alicia and Harry’s beautiful home in the mountains of New Preston. The accommodations were clean, up to date and spacious and impressively equipped with all we needed. The kitchen was perfect for too many cooks to prepare a gourmet dinner. When in the home we spent most of the daylight hours in the living room and most of the evening hours in the family room downstairs. Our ping pong matches were fun. All the bedrooms were spacious and had full bathrooms. We would not hesitate to return.
We booked this property as a group of girlfriends and had the most wonderful time! Our hosts were so accommodating, allowing us to reschedule because one member of our group tested positive for COVID right before we were supposed to arrive. The house is beautiful and the property is so peaceful. We would love to stay again!
Family stayed here for a wedding and we had a blast. The property was wonderful. Well maintained. Great interiors. Really enjoyed our experience and would recommend.
The barn was beyond my wildest dreams. My friends and I (there were 8 of us) had never been to New Preston, and we couldn’t have asked for a better town or home to stay in for a summer weekend. The Barn is SPOTLESS, updated appliances and some rooms with remote-controlled shades, extremely spacious, even for a group of our size. Beds are super comfortable. The backyard is gorgeous, and the deck was a wonderful place for us to drink our morning coffee and chat. Alicia and Harry answered a million questions from me before the trip, which was enormously helpful for navigating an area we’d never been to.
My friends and I went into town to The Owl and Smithy’s sandwich shop as well as the store (highly recommend both)! Hopkins Inn was a beautiful spot for pictures over the lake.
We also kayaked on the lake, and it was super easy to just walk up and grab a kayak from the Clarke Outdoors kayak stand. They only take cash so bring some! So worth it.
It was a trip to remember and my friends could not stop remarking on how incredible the Barn was. Thank you Alicia and Harry for allowing us to stay in your amazing home.
We were a group of 10 , a mix of family and friends. The house is bright and airy and we had a great time hanging out in the family room with the eclectic selection of books and watching the stars on the deck at night . Would work great for four couples .Liked the set up in the kitchen and the coffee was lovely.
Everything worked out seamlessly with renting from Alicia and Harry. Their home is just as described and pictured. Very spacious, yet cozy and clean. The basement was the perfect play space for our kids. It was the perfect retreat for the holiday weekend.
