Lazy M Mountain Cabin- A Cozy Mountain Getaway. No Cleaning Fee
Our cabin is nestled in the majestic mountain terrain of Gallatin National Forest and is just twelve miles from Gardiner, a year round gateway to Yellowstone National Park. It is the perfect distance to be able to enjoy Yellowstone but be able to get away from the crowds. From The Lazy M Yellowstone National Park is a scenic 20-25 minute drive. Our cabin is 30 minutes from Chico Hot Springs, an hour from Livingston, and hour and a half from Bozeman Airport.
The cabin is adjacent to Cinnabar Creek, which is great for small trout fishing, and has a magnificent porch with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the beautiful mountain view. If you want to just sit back and relax you can spend hours sitting on the porch next to the creek drinking coffee or wine while reading one of our many books or just enjoying the peaceful environment. Watch deer, elk, and big horn sheep in the meadow out the front door, along the creek or on the nearby bluffs. Bears have also been seen from the porch and along the road. If you are really lucky you may even see a mountain lion. During the evening hours make sure to keep an ear open for howling wolves.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, pull out sleeper sofa in main cabin and a Tulikivi Fireplace.
This is a mountain cabin in the heart of Montana’s wilderness. While it has most of the amenities of home, it is still a rustic cabin. We have books, travel guides and games in the cabin. There is no TV or phone in the cabin. WiFi is satellite and therefore not extremely reliable; if you absolutely need internet during every moment of your stay you should look elsewhere. We did just upgrade to Starlink so internet should be faster and more reliable but it is still satellite so could be affected by weather (May 2023). We allow 2 night stays during off-season and to fill during summer. There is a $75 cleaning fee for 2 night rentals. All animal photos & photos of surrounding area were taken by Laurel Koller. Absolutely lovely cabin with a quiet, pristine setting that was just what I needed to unwind. A short drive away from the beauty of Yellowstone. Plenty of awesome restaurants and pubs in Gardiner to grab a beer and some grub after a long day of hiking. Laurel was wonderful and responsive.
Wonderful place for a quiet getaway. The creek added great atmosphere. The cabin was clean and roomy for its size. Laurel the host was responsive and great.
The Lazy M was the perfect place to stay for our winter getaway to Yellowstone. Clean and comfortable, beautiful and quiet Montana setting. We hope to return!
The cabin was wonderful! Its a drive down and little road and away from the hustle of town! Perfectly stocked with all we needed. Bed is comfy and host is amazing! The best communication Ive ever had with a host!
My husband nicknamed the property "The Pint". It was perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed our time there. It had everything that we would need and the added beautiful location and rushing creek was absolutely wonderful.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for!! It was defiantly a cabin in the woods away from the hussle and bussle of the city. We got to see wildlife right outside the cabin everyday. There was a nice porch to sit outside and enjoy nature at its finest. It was about a 25 minute drive to the front gate of Yellowstone National Park. Host were very quick about responding to any questions we had prior to our stay. Never had to contact them while were we there, so i guess thats good! There was not very good cell service there but it wasn't great in the park either which was kind of nice! Deinraly recommend booking this cabin if you want to be one with nature and nothing else!
Oh my goodness! This cabin was the perfect place to stay for our Yellowstone portion of the vacation. Laurel really put her heart into it with every detail thought of!
This was our fourth stay at this delightful cabin. It is comfortable and convenient for wildlife watching in Yellowstone. On a quiet road, with elk and bighorn sheep along the way.
This was our second time staying at the Lazy M and it was incredible and beautiful. Very private and Quiet, unlike the rush you would get staying at a hotel or resort. Once you stay, you will see why this place is special!
Great little cabin! Worked perfect as our home base while exploring Yellowstone! Not as secluded as I thought it would be, but would definitely stay there again.
This place was so near to stay at! You’re right in the mountains and are also very close to Yellowstone. Loved the space and would be happy to stay there again.

About the host
Hosted by Emily Sherman, Paul & Laurel Koller
Paul and Emily purchased our property in 1994 after looking for a number of years. Emily's great grandfather had owned a general store next to the Crow Indian reservation in the 1890's. Her grandmother grew up in Anaconda, Montana. We have always enjoyed the landscape and dry mountain air of Montana. Paul and Emily had vacationed for many years in Yellowstone National Park before we purchased the LazyM. Day to day operation of the LazyM is done by Paul and Emily's daughter Laurel
Why they chose this property
We choose this location because of it's proximity to Yellowstone Park and the beautiful scenery of Paradise Valley while allowing us quiet seclusion when needed. We enjoy hiking, fishing and both downhill and cross country skiing.
What makes this property unique
Sitting on the porch or deck you have a wonderful view of Cinnabar mountain. At night you can sleep with the sound of the creek flowing by and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Our cabin was built in the 1950's and we have tried to preserve it's original charm. We have white pine floors in the main cabin and rustic kitchen cabinets.
