About this property
A Little Camp with Big Views & Amazing Sunsets Steps from Moosehead Lake
Due to cancellation there is availability for the International Sea Plane Fly-In in September! Book now before it's gone.
Little Moose Camp was built around 1930 as part of the Birch Point Sporting Camps just 1 mile from downtown Greenville. The cabin is steps from the water and almost every window has views of the lake. The screened porch and yard (fire pit!) offer up gorgeous views across the lake at Little Moose and Big Moose Mountains where you can sip wine to the sunset. You will even be able to watch the seaplanes take off and land. Although the sporting camp no longer exist, this cabin has been restored and provides a wonderful escape from the rest of the world and brings you back in time just a little bit to the North Woods.
The camp has an all new kitchen and bathroom and is decorated in the spirit of the Maine woods with many pieces from local artisans, repurposed items, and lovely textiles. The bird feeders bring a wonderful variety of birds including hummingbirds, cedar waxwings, goldfinches, and purple finches. You might also meet the resident chipmunks who are known to beg for food along with a troop of mallard ducklings who are absolutely shameless with their cheeping.
The cabin is a single open concept camp with a queen firm bed, small sitting area that includes a comfy reclining couch, tv (bring your Netflix/Amazon login), dining table, gas fireplace for chilly days in September, screened porch with loveseat and table for two, plus an outside picnic table and firepit. Trees and flower gardens create a beautiful outdoor area to enjoy. There is a private dock (boats cannot be tied up here, but it's great for loading into canoes/kayaks, or jumping into the water). Additionally, Birch Point residents share a cove with a lovely swimming beach, dock, swim raft, and jetty. You can rent kayaks/canoes locally and put them in right here steps from the camp (you can even paddle back and forth to town). While this camp is not secluded in the woods, it is situated to provide privacy in the yard on the lake and on the porch. As an added bonus you can walk/ride bikes to the Dairy Bar for icecream after dinner cooked on the grill.
Little Moose is perfect for a single person or couple. Hikers, fishermen, birders, leaf-peepers, and paddlers will delight in the proximity to the trails and waterways of the area. Readers will never have to leave the camp - enjoy a great book surrounded by the lake and mountains. Anyone looking for a front row seat to the International Sea Plane Fly-In in September will be thrilled with this location. We typically due Saturday-Saturday rentals, but feel free to reach out if you need something different and we'll see if we can make it happen.

cabin was cozy with the most beautiful view. Enjoyed feeding the local chipmunk and the ducks. The grocery store and other attractions were close by. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously.
We fell in love with the cabin when we first seen it, did not want to leave. It was very peaceful, relaxing, comfort of country charm. gorgeous views.looking forward to another visit got to remember to take fishing equipment next time.
Little Moose cabin is so cozy and comfortable! Situated right on Moosehead Lake, the views are beautiful in every direction and the sunsets are spectacular. We enjoyed watching the ducks and chippies during the day and listening to the calls of the loons at night. We swam off the private dock and kept cool on the hot days. Greenville shops and restaurants are close by, so we enjoyed sampling the local cuisine and ice cream. We had a wonderful week at Little Moose cabin!
We had an amazing time at the camp! The cabin is a small 1 room cabin but perfect for my husband and i. Everything was clean and the outdoor fireplace and dock was perfect to relax at. The owner was extremly communicative and helpful! We will be going back!
The little Moose cabin was exactly as it was described online. It was small but did not feel that way, it is perfect for two people. It was comfy and cozy and it had everything you would need for your stay. Kelly Anne did a great job utilizing every inch of the space. Loved the location too, on the water with a nice dock and it was near the center of Town. We loved it and hope to be back. One of our favorite things were the little family of ducks, chipmunks and humming birds who visited with us daily. Unfortunately, there was a ban on fires with the drought, which was out of Kellyanne’s control but we enjoyed the stars just the same. Thanks for a great stay!
Little Moose cabin was the perfect getaway. The cabin had everything we needed to spend time in beautiful Maine. Drinking coffee on the screened porch each morning, watching the sunset on Moosehead Lake, and star gazing in the backyard were definitely highlights. We hiked several hikes we read about in a book of day hikes that was in the cabin. We were able to cook our own meals in the well stocked kitchen as well as try some of the local restaurants and ice cream shops. We highly recommend this cozy cabin on the lake.
What a beautiful spot on Moose Head Lake. The cabin had everything we needed for the week. Kitchen had what we need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. We loved watching the sea planes take off and land right in front of the cabin. We spent the week hiking, canoeing and shopping in town. The owner of this property was just a text away. She was great.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Moosehead Lake awaits your return.
My husband and I had such a great time at this little cabin. The porch and the yard were both private and the view was wonderful. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen had a nice amount of cookware/bakeware. There were several games available; cards, chess, cribbage. Multiple pamphlets and booklets about the area were provided. We enjoyed toasting the sunset by the fire pit, playing games on the porch, perusing the shops downtown and hiking. All around it was a fantastic getaway!

Thank you so much for this delightful review. We love to play cards on the porch too! Moosehead awaits your return. :-)
We had a lovely long weekend trip at this beautiful cabin. It has been updated perfectly and everything was so well thought out but the charm was preserved. It had everything we could need and more. The view was breathtaking with the lake just steps away. We loved watching the seaplanes take off and the sunset over the mountains every night by the fire pit. It was romantic and secluded but also close to the town, stores and restaurants, and many hiking spots. Honestly the pictures don’t do this property justice! It was absolutely perfect. We absolutely cannot wait to come back.

We are so glad you enjoyed Little Moose. It's now an extra-special place for you, congrats on your engagement. We hope to see you again at Moosehead. All the best!
Perfect for two close people, small but well organized. Had everything you need but slope to water is steep so for older adults it was not easy but that was our only issue!! Close to town, great seaplane watching, and a wonderful screened porch. We saw and heard loons, fed a few ducks and a resident chipmunk who is quite brave!!! Lovely sunsets and a nice firepit!!! Too cloudy for star gazing but I bet on a clear night it is good to watch for shooting stars!!

We agree on the slope to to the dock and we have a local geologist building a natural stone staircase this fall - we're so excited for the easier access. On a clear night the stars are amazing at Moosehead - it's. certified Dark Skies area, so truly breathtaking!
We had a truly lovely stay in this cosy cottage. “Little Moose” is well equipped and the owner is very responsive. There was a temporary problem beyond her control about which she kept us well informed; worked hard to come up with a temporary solution; rectified as soon as possible. We still had a fabulous getaway. The loons were a definite highlight. The weather was on the chilly side, but that meant we did more hiking and kayaking than swimming. The new dock on the property was an unexpected and welcome bonus. We would be very happy to come for another stay here.

We hope you can find the time to return another summer. The loons will be waiting for you.
We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Little Moose cabin, which felt like a cozy home away from home. We were delighted to be greeted by owner Kerryane, who ensured we had everything we needed.
Kerryane also introduced us to the wild birds, squirrels, chipmunk, and friendly duck families that were a hoot to feed and observe.
The screened porch and private yard with Adirondack chairs were great for views of Moosehead Lake, the mountains, and the gorgeous sunsets. The cry of the loons in the evening was truly peaceful.
The town of Greenville had several good restaurants and yummy ice cream spots just minutes away. We also enjoyed a lake cruise on the historic Mt. Katahdin and a beautiful afternoon at Lily Bay State Park.
We had a perfect and memorable week's stay at Little Moose cabin. Thank you!

Thank you for this lovely review - you both were wonderful guests. Come back again!
Title of Rental is Spot On! Little camp with big views and amazing sunsets.
We wanted a cabin experience with amazing water front views and proximity to outdoor activities. This cabin surpassed those wants. First, Kerryane is an amazing host. She is very responsive and so nice. She checked on us regularly to make sure everything was ok and inquire if we needed anything. The cabin is - as described - living, kitchen, and BR in a single room with a private bath and an attached screened porch. It was perfect for my wife and I and makes a fantastic couples retreat. We cooked steaks on the grill and ate on the screened waterfront porch. We then used the fire pit and spent the evening enjoying the quiet and a billion stars. It was just perfect. If you are looking for a cool place in a cool town next to a cool lake and appreciate a camp from a simpler time - this is it.

Thank you so much - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Moosehead Lake and Greenville are truly special places. Come back anytime!
We had a very enjoyable stay at this cabin! It was comfortable, compact and was equipped with all the necessities. Host was very prompt in replying to any queries. Situated on the lakes edge - great for evening sunsets and morning moon sets! Offers peace and quiet yet 5 minutes drive to town.
Definitely plan to return!
This cabin is absolutely perfect for two people. Cozy and all the comforts of home. Despite its close proximity to neighbors, we never heard or saw anyone. Sitting on the porch, which is directly facing and close to the lake, is very private.
I cannot say enough about the friendly, consistent communication with the owner. We had a terrific stay!
This little cabin was ideally located for enjoying activities on both sides of the lake and in Greenville. We cooked all but two meals, and found every kitchen item we needed. Being able to eat all our meals on the screened in porch with no bugs and excellent views was a plus. The host communicated with us on an on going basis to ensure we were happy. Great couples get away cabin.
Small but comfortably furnished; the perfect getaway for two. Pots and pans, dishes and cutlery enough to cook most any meal. A gas grill right outside. We enjoyed feeding the ducks and resident chipmunk. Owner was responsive and checkin was easy. Highly recomended.
The Little Moose was just as advertised! Beautiful camp! So nice inside! The spot on the lake is amazing and the Sunsets are 2nd to none! Hiking for all levels around the lake, lots of options to dine out and everything you need to dine at the Camp!

The sunsets at Little Moose truly are wonderful - we're so glad you got to enjoy them! We hope you return to Moosehead Lake because it is such a special place.
Our first time at Moosehead Lake and we loved our perfect stay at Little Moose right on the water. Great location and you can’t stop looking at the views. It had everything we needed
very clean and comfortable. Can’t wait to return!
What a great little place for a quiet couple getaway. This is a studio which includes a kitchen. Snug but big enough to move around comfortably.
Very welcoming queen bed with luxurious linens. Kitchen is well equipped and there is a grill. Perfect seats for sunsets over the mountains and lake, including a big fire ring to complete the view. You are only 25 feet from the waters edge and essentially zero boat traffic.
We climbed down the rocks to the water to swim a few times. A little tricky but this 60-something managed. The neighbor houses are close but you barely see or hear them. No a/c but the fan kept it cool at night.
Overall, highly recommended for a very, very quiet spot that is close to town but a million miles away.

Thank you for your review - we are so glad you enjoyed Little Moose. We plan on installing a dock for easier access to the water next spring. Also the beach on the cove is a shared beach and you are welcome to swim there as well - we like to take a plunge off the jetty and swim in! We hope you come back.
This is a perfect getaway cabin. The cabin is nestled right on the lake and it’s honestly the most picturesque stay I’ve had to date. My partner and I stayed here for a week. It’s small but the place is really functional/had everything we needed in terms of bathroom and kitchen supplies. The bathroom and shower is brand new though it’s not pictured in the photos. No AC, but it doesn’t get too hot and there is a fan. Wifi works well. There is a shared jetty, floating dock and small beach with neighboring houses. The only thing that was bothersome was that the bed smelled of moth balls, recommend bringing your own pillows if that bothers you. Just a mile from town. The screened in porch keeps all mosquitos out. The host is super responsive and kind. Overall a quaint and lovely stay that we HIGHLY recommend.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. And we're so sorry about the mothball smell, it's part of the winterization process of seasonal camps to keep furry friends away. Clearly, I went overboard. :-) I will replace the pillows as soon as possible so thank you for letting us know!
We had a wonderful time. This one-room cabin has been carefully restored to preserve its vintage charm while adding modern comfort. Although it is small, the use of space is so well thought out that all the essentials are there, and more. Kitchen, dining area, bed, living "room," bathroom, and porch, are all well equipped to meet your needs.
We ate most of our meals on the porch, enjoying the breeze and the view. The kitchen is equipped well enough for real cooking, and even baking. The bed is comfortable, with extra bedding as well as more storage space underneath. Rustic, nothing fancy, but cozy, perfect for a lakeside getaway.
This isn't wilderness, by any means, with neighboring cabins close by, and a lot of boat traffic and sight-seeing planes coming and going, but it is still absolutely peaceful, with the sound of the loons and the lake only a few feet away. A nearby shared beach is pebbly, but provides easy access to swimming and room to launch a canoe or kayak. We brought our own canoe and enjoyed paddling right from the cabin, but even better was the day we took the canoe a few miles up the road to Lily Bay State Park, where all the busy-ness of Greenville seemed to disappear. The cabin is in a perfect location, convenient to stores, restaurants and all sorts of activities, but also with easy access to the more remote parts of this beautiful lake. Highly recommended.

Thank you for this lovely review (and from our first guests!). We are so glad you enjoyed our little camp, it brings us joy to share our lake dream with others. Happy summering! - Kerryane & Robson
About the host
Hosted by Kerryane Monahan
Kerryane is a biology professor and Robson manufactures trailers in Florida. Having spent summers in Maine as a child, Kerryane requires an annual summer dose of the North Woods. Robson can't decide between the woods and the water, so he opted for a lot of each. Both of us are avid outdoors people and love the hiking, boating, birding, paddling, and fishing opportunities at Moosehead.
Why they chose this property
We dreamed about owning a home on Moosehead Lake since we first came here together in 2004. We stumbled upon this dilapidated camp and decided we loved the view so much we would attempt to restore the cabin. In 16 days working 14 hours/day during the pandemic, we gutted it down to the frame and then built it back up again (new roof, new insulation, new electric, new plumbing, new walls, new ceiling, new kitchen, new bath, etc), we even jacked it up and put in new support piers. It was a labor of love that nearly broke us (actually, there were a few injuries) but we are so glad we did! We love spending summer here, breathing in the clean air, enjoying nature, and being so close to the water. And now we can share it with a few other lucky folks!
What makes this property unique
Little Moose is close to town but still has that on the lake in the woods feel. There's so much to do here, ATVing, fishing, hiking, paddling, boating, birding, swimming, etc. Or just read a good book while soaking in the views.
