About the host
Hosted by MELANIE PATTERSON
i am a former Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. United States 1993 (crowned in Las Vegas), inventor & entrepreneur. This is the former family home of my Italian immigrant grandparents who moved here in 1949. It has been in our family for 70 years and now enjoys taking guests on a trip back to the eras of the 1950s, 60s, 70s & 80s! I enjoy history and fixing up old things and currently involved in an adaptive reuse project with a brownfield riverfront property that my husband and I own nearby and the former concrete industrial warehouse that my husbands family built in 1950.
Why they chose this property
There is nothing like this anywhere. The house has been featured with Dave Crawley (KDKA & WQED Reporter) on WQED PITTSBURGH 360 where he has described the house as a 'time machine' taking you to decades of the 1950s, 60s, 70s & 80s. It is truly an experience for all you remember how to percolate coffee, fill up ice cube trays, and operate and 8 track tape we have WiFi available too -- just in case you need to stick around in this century too.
What makes this property unique
A free trip down memory lane with working Rotary phones, percolated coffee, stereos, LPs, 45s, eight track tape player, 1975 Pinball machine, Ms Pacman Tabletop game, vintage board games, polyester suit & bellbottoms in the boys' bedroom, Brownie outfit & 1950s Prom Dress in the girls' room, and lots of nostalgic experiences with family & friends that will truly be stored in your memory bank for future withdrawels. Shop in an old fashioned street filled with Antique shops, Boutiques, Bakery, Grocery store, Taverns & Churches & a Parochial school (that I attended as a child).
