The house is lovely and in an ideal location in the centre of the village with shops, bars, restaurants, boulangerie, ATMEtc and not far to walk to some of the local beaches. We loved the plage de port St Miquel. But best to check tide times as best around high tide (very shallow otherwise) then the grand plage is also close and is a deeper bay so you can swim anytime, both 8-10 minute walk. It’s possible to walk most places on the island. Great to hire a bike for a day to reach locations further South. Plage du Gored was also a favourite location offering a sheltered bay and a mooring platform that you can dive from! Walkable again in 20minutes. The house itself was very pretty, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need but the stove is just 2 rings so quite small. There is a microwave that has an oven & grill function - but we found cooking for a family of 4, we needed to cook certain bits of our meals in batches. The main drawback is not having any outdoor space which the owner was clear about before we booked - but we hadn’t anticipated the issue of not having any outdoor drying opportunity for swimwear and beach towels. It would also be useful to note to keep windows closed at night with any indoor lights on as we found we’d attracted garden cockroaches into the house (as well as mosquitos)! We learnt our lesson and they weren’t a problem after this! Overall a lovely stay, and Ile Aux Moines is so beautiful! Coastal walks are a must!
