Véronique is a gracious host - from first communications during booking to clear instructions at our arrival (train strike prevented her from meeting us in person, however, her arrangements were thorough) to answering our questions promptly and sending her son to help with electronics to recommending G7 taxi services. Her apartment is tastefully decorated, clean, spacious for 2 people (however, narrow bathroom, see photo of WC - tiny sink and shower are to the left, shelves to the right). Vibrant neighborhood with Franprix and 2 other mini-markets, boulangeries/patiserries, fruit stores, seafood store, restaurants, shoe store, gift shops, the famous Rue Mouffetard 6-minute walk, open market, bus stops, Metro station, post office, hardware store, a store for rotisserie chicken.
(going north) a 15-minute walk to Notre Dame, 18 minutes to Shakespeare and Company; 20 minutes to a Batobus stop
(going west) 10-minute walk to Place du Panthéon; 16 minutes to Luxembourg Gardens
(going east) 6-minutes to Jardin des Plantes.
My pal speaks French and she had a blast going to Franglish and conducting research for her children's book series. I had delicious home-life (cooked 3 dinners) and work-life (turned that table into my desk).
Thank goodness for elevator; my knee gave out by Day 4 going up and down 4 flights of stairs. If you can tolerate city-street noise (I slept in the living room on the most comfortable sofabed and experienced "complete quiet" only for 3 to 4 hours starting about 3:00AM most days) and thin walls between apartments (you will hear neighbor's movements through living room wall; perhaps at one point one apartment was split into two. See photo - the white door cannot be opened; the space under that door lets in sounds from adjacent apartment). The glass-squared door next to smaller sofa is the bedroom door. My pal said she was pleased with the bedroom with lots of closet space, a small desk, and big window that overlooks inner courtyard. To recap my review of Véronique's apartment - 5 stars for a lovely home (with 2 huge windows in the living room looking out onto lush green leaves) and 5 stars for her graciousness. Merci beaucoup!
