About this property

The Palace of Dreams – Secluded Cabin on 68 Private Acres

Tucked away on 68 private acres of untouched forest in Princeton, West Virginia, The Palace of Dreams is a secluded cabin retreat designed for guests who crave peace, nature, and a touch of magic.

Originally built by my grandmother and father in the 1960s—with stones pulled from the nearby creek—the cabin has deep roots and family history. In July 2025, we completed a full renovation, blending the property’s rustic charm with thoughtful updates and modern comfort.

Recent upgrades include:
• Full interior repaint for a clean, refreshed feel
• All new furniture and room-by-room redesign
• High-quality bedding, linens, and curtains throughout
• Brand-new kitchen appliances, cookware, dishes, and silverware
• A cozy new coffee bar setup
• A refreshed fire pit area for stargazing and evening hangs
• Professional cleaning team hired to ensure top-to-bottom care for every stay

The cabin’s layout is simple, warm, and full of character—perfect for couples, solo travelers, creatives, or small families. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch, exploring forest trails, or unwinding by the fire, this is a place to slow down and reconnect.

🌲 What to know: Access to the property is via a half-mile gravel driveway that winds through the forest. It’s part of what makes the place feel so private and peaceful—but guests should be comfortable driving on rural roads. The cabin is surrounded by woods and wildlife, with strong cell service and reliable Wi-Fi. While the Wi-Fi generally works great, rare outages can happen due to the remote location.

If you’re looking for a stay with soul—not just a place to sleep—The Palace of Dreams welcomes you. Come experience the peace, the privacy, and the care we’ve put into every detail.

Overall, we had a great trip to West Virginia! Hats off to our host who allowed pets, so we took advantage of a long weekend with our two dogs to hike and sightsee. Property was clean and well maintained with plenty of amenities to make our three night stay comfortable. Property is secluded but safe, allowing our dogs to roam free. It was also within driving distance a whole host of small towns, state parks and lots of waterfalls!

It was a very nice and comfortable place to stay. Everything was clean and everything we needed for our stay was there. We really enjoyed the experience. Pay attention to the directions. They were accurate but gps took us on an adventure. The narrow one lane road was interesting but we saw some beautiful country. We really recommend the stay.

Some would call this cute, quaint, but we call it perfect! If you are looking something that is quite and secluded, this is your place. The approach up the mountain is via a one lane, tree lined, road; that featured deer and turkeys during our stay. Our host, Chistian, was very attentive checking to ensure we were comfortable, needed anything, or had any questions. The one time we needed assistance, a tree limb had been blown down across the driveway, Christian had it removed in a timely manner.

The property was peaceful and well maintained. It is very, very quiet - no road noise or neighbors. Definitely a nature filled vacation. Don’t be alarmed if the door won’t open after being unlocked! It gets stuck at the top, so just lift a little and it opens right up. **The driveway is long and has washed out spots. It is not steep, but I would recommend AWD or something with higher ground clearance just to accommodate some rocky patches. We took a front wheel drive with plenty of clearance and made it fine!**

We loved the cabin!! The road was a bit tricky to access, but that was due to the huge amount of rain during our stay and our vehicle. It was clean, just as described, full stocked, and wonderful. Thank you for a place to make memories with our family! We met the cleaning crew, polite and pleasant!

My husband and I take numerous trips throughout the year because he works away and it help us to spend more needed time together. We absolutely enjoyed this place because it's such a cute little cabin not far from town and it's such a peaceful location tucked away in the woods. Oh and we also took our baby(dog) Bruno and he had such a great time swimming behind the house in the creek. He's a lab so he does love water! The host was incredible throughout our whole stay and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some relaxing peace and quiet!

This unique property was absolutely fantastic! We traveled with our 2 large puppies and they had a ball in the creek behind the house! The host was responsive and he had everything there that you could need! We are already looking forward to going back as soon as possible to stay again! The serenity was perfect. I was looking for somewhere for my husband to disconnect from everything for our Anniversary. We had a wonderful time! Getting in and out of the driveway was quite the adventure too! Loved every minute of it!

Absolutely loved our time at the Palace of dreams. A lovely quiet hideaway in the mountains for a peaceful weekend. We took the dogs up for our anniversary and barely left the property. We spent the weekend hiking along the creek with the dogs. Everyone had a blast. The house was very cute and rustic while still having modern amenities. The drive up to the house is a little scary in our mini van but we made it! Just make sure your car can handle a bit of off-roading.

Incredible property

This was by far the best Vrbo we have ever stayed in. The house is homey and quaint, very secluded and scenic. We stayed for 9 nights, and still didn't want to leave. Neat places nearby, Moutain Lake Resort where Dirty dancing was filmed.

Why they chose this property

This land has been in my family for generations, so I didn’t choose it—it chose me. The property is nestled deep in the Appalachian hills of southern West Virginia, surrounded by forest, wildlife, and quiet. There are no crowds, no traffic—just space to breathe and connect with nature.

What I love most is how it feels like a world of its own, while still being just a short drive to historic downtown Princeton, local restaurants, antique shops, hiking trails, and river adventures. There’s a raw, grounded beauty here that’s hard to describe—but once you feel it, you get it.

This area is rich with Appalachian culture, history, and a deep-rooted connection to the land. It’s the kind of place where people wave when you drive by and time moves just a little slower. That’s why I’m here—and why I keep coming back.

What makes this property unique

The Palace of Dreams is a one-of-a-kind retreat tucked away on 68 private acres of Appalachian forest in southern West Virginia. Originally built by my grandmother and father in the 1960s—with stones from the nearby creek and no road, power, or plumbing—it began as a simple family homestead.

Today, it’s been thoughtfully restored into a peaceful getaway where guests can unplug, recharge, and reconnect with nature. The cabin carries deep roots: my grandmother was a Native American healer, and many visitors say the land still holds a calming, almost sacred energy.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a solo retreat, a creative hideaway, or a quiet spot to share with family or friends, this space was designed to help you feel grounded, inspired, and at ease. It’s rustic, real, and full of soul—just like the land it sits on.
