An interesting experience
We got to the house relatively late in the evening (about 8:30 PM). A motion light did come on that helped us unload my truck. However, none of the light switches inside the house work so the sidewalk to the front door and the area inside were pitch dark. Then, the house was hot as a furnace and we could never figure out how to turn off the heat. On top of this, we soon discovered there were people living downstairs and in the garage outside and this was not in the property listing.
When we went into the bedrooms, all of the beds looked like they had been slept in with the sheet and blanket roughly pulled up over the pillows. The water in the house is so hard that you feel like you can't wash off the soap and the towels are rough and scratchy. Oh, and you can't shut off the shower because of all of the calcium built up in the fixture, so you get hit with freezing water when you turn on the faucet in the shower.
Other than those things, this house was great. :-) I don't suggest you trust other rankings because the owners are aggressive about trying to get 5-star ratings to project the image that this is a really nice house.
Overall, the stay was pretty unsettling since there were people around we couldn't ever see but who parked three cars in the driveway, the beds looked slept in, and every time we thought we were turning down the heat, the house warmed back up to 76 degrees. I rarely do this, but I don't recommend this house at all.
We had a very pleasant stay! We came for our son’s graduation from West Point. Pat was a gracious host and made sure that we had up to date info. There were lots of thoughtful amenities, the beds and couches were very comfortable, we used the grill and sat on the deck which overlooks a wooded hill. The location is peaceful and in the country just down the street from a horse pasture. You can hear the brook bubbling across the way. The WiFi worked great and although there is just a window air conditioner we kept very cool, not even needing to use the fans provided.
House is very cute. The scenery in early spring was amazing. Very quiet neighborhood. Conveniently located. Very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Had everything we needed.
This house is located minutes from the highway making it easy to get to. Its a very scenic and country area so you feel farther away then you are. The house is extremely clean and well appointed it sits up high on a hill so you can enjoy the veiw of the country house across the street which has a small creek and gardens to enjoy theres even a pool to enjoy in summer months and a fire pit .this house was peaceful and perfect for the quick weekend getaway that we all needed. The host Pat was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and the interesting history of the property. I highly recommend this place and i will return.
Great place to hang out over the weekend while in the area. Kitchen is well stocked with small appliances and pots/pans. Extra bonus of fresh eggs in the fridge. Love the fact that we did not have to bring our own sheets or towels. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
The house was spotless and beds were comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet and lovely. The decorating is a little outdated. The kitchen is adequate for a quick breakfast and eating out. We would definitely stay again. If I were to be doing cooking, I would bring Tupperware, crockpot and some sharp knives.
Nice home Quiet area Close yo many different things. Thank you!

We came down for a family wedding and couldn’t have been happier in our choice to rent this house. Pat is, by far, the best host of any property we’ve ever rented.
Although we’re originally from this area and did not need much in the way of help finding our way around, he was very responsive to any questions we did have. He even checked in with us half-way through our stay to make sure everything was going well.
The house was perfect for our needs. It’s located on a beautiful country road where the crickets sang us to sleep. The bedrooms were good size, the kitchen was well equipped; all utensils, pots & pans, and small appliances needed were there. As a frequent traveler, I cannot overstate how wonderful having access to a washer and dryer is!
It’s close to all major roads and we were able to head down to Croton-Harmon to catch the train for a day in the city.
We’ll be down next summer for a family reunion, so I’m hoping this house is available at that time!
Thank you, Pat, for sharing your home with us!

The house was clean. We weren't there long, just needed a place to sleep after a wedding we attended. Unfortunately we were not able to get an Uber because of the location but we made do! I would consider staying again with my children because the kitchen was well equipped and it seemed like there were a lot of nice hikes and things to do outdoors nearby.
We so enjoyed our stay at Pat and Christine's.
They graciously accepted our last minute reservation with ease and flow.
The house was like a home away from home.
They even had delicious fresh eggs in the fridge from their chickens across the road. It doesn't get more home-y than that!
The kids really enjoyed swimming in pool and playing a board game. The back patio was lovely - surrounded by the sounds of nature. We walked a little trail on property and relaxed on the comfy couches. The beds were also very comfortable in our opinion.
Pat provided an excellent list of nearby places to shop, visit and explore
We highly recommend this property. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay and for being so accommodating!
This property was clean, inviting and located close to a major highway. The decor is outdated, but it was perfect for what we needed. The hosts left clean sheets and towel, the beds were super comfy and the view was pretty. There is a horse farm down the street which our daughter loved. Will definitely book again.
Quaint Home and beautiful scenery. Beds were super comfortable and we felt like we were at home. The homeowners were incredible to work with and very welcoming! Highly recommended and would stay again.
